INDEPENDENCE DAY: TO THE FOURTH POWER

To the 4th PowerTO THE FOURTH POWER (2013) – This film was one of the sleeper hits of last year. You’d think it would be impossible to do something creative with the mock documentary format at this point but To The Fourth Power proves to be a thought-provoking and inventive piece set “just a few years from now”.

The movie depicts a near future in which the Continue reading

ROOTS 3: THE BEN AFFLECK STORY

"I come from a long line of slave-owning scumbags."

“I come from a long line of slave-owning scumbags.”

Ben Affleck, best known for being a cowardly apologist for and enabler of Muslim homophobia and misogyny, is at the center of a new controversy because of his heavy-handed attempts to get his family’s history of slave-owning censored from a PBS documentary. Meanwhile, another film has been released about Affleck’s slave-owning family.

In the new movie titled Roots 3: The Ben Affleck Story, Affleck was quoted as saying “I learn a few lines for movies and that makes me above you commoners. My role in life is giving finger-wagging lectures to the peons. I should be above the humiliation of being exposed as the scion of a repulsive family of slave-owners. That’s off the record, by the way.” Continue reading

ANIMAL HOUSE 2015: SABRINA ERDELY BLUES

Animal House 2015The 2015 remake of Animal House hits theaters this week just in time to coincide with the Columbia School of “Journalism” (LMAO) releasing its results about the Sabrina Erdely UVA article at Rolling Stone magazine. The fraudulent report Jann Wenner’s publication ran has been exposed as a failure of every basic practice of reportorial decency and fundamental fact-finding.

Cult director Eddie Wozniak scores again with this bawdy and hilarious look at an innocent fraternity of young men at an unnamed university in the American south. The fraternity, Phi Kappa Psi, is a heroic band of youths minding their own business when they are blindsided by a sleazy, opportunistic reporter for Strolling Rune magazine, campus hate groups and the university’s corrupt president. FUNKY FERGUSON: HELD OVER ANOTHER SMASH WEEK

Hands Up Don't Shoot

Unidentified black men making with the ubiquitous new hand-signal which means “I have a very small penis.”

FUNKY FERGUSON – This late December release continues to absolutely dominate the box office. Funky Ferguson is the title character of this very dark satire which uses the style and structure of 1970’s blaxploitation films to comment on the horrific events in Ferguson, MO. Continue reading

ELVIS PRESLEY AS GENERAL ANDREW JACKSON IN ROCK’N’ROLL VS THE REDCOATS

Elvis IS General Andrew Jackson at the Battle of New Orleans

Elvis IS General Andrew Jackson at the Battle of New Orleans

January 8th of each year always represents the general rift that separates American pop culture from alleged “high culture”. On the one hand it’s Elvis Presley’s birthday. On the other hand it’s also the anniversary of the Battle of New Orleans, in which General (and future President) Andrew Jackson teamed up with French pirate Jean Lafitte to hand the British their worst defeat in the War of 1812.

It’s not tough to guess which event gets more attention year in and year out, but for this 200th Anniversary of the Battle of New Orleans cult director Eddie Wozniak took a break from the film world to write, produce and direct this new musical comedy which premiered last week on the 8th.

General Jackson as a one-man USO show for his battle-hardened troops

General Jackson as a one-man USO show for his battle-hardened troops

Rock’N’Roll vs the Redcoats is Wozniak’s hilarious but educational fusion of Elvis’ birthday with the martial anniversary. The musical comedy depicts the events of 1815 as they might have been depicted in an Elvis Presley movie with an actual Elvis impersonator in the lead role. So basically the star of Rock’N’Roll vs the Redcoats is a man playing Elvis Presley playing General Andrew Jackson.

If you enjoyed the musicals 1776 and Bye, Bye, Birdie you’ll no doubt love the way Wozniak works in historical trivia without deviating from the overall “Elvis Movie Feel” of the piece. Many of the songs play into this perfectly – Hermitage Howlin’ deals with Jackson’s Tennessee background, a characteristic he shared with the Man from Memphis; Rachel, Will You Marry Me Again covers the way Andrew Jackson and his beloved wife Rachel were forced to marry a second time when it was learned that she had unknowingly committed bigamy and My Tallahassee tunefully recounts the way General Jackson seized Tallahasee, FL in TWO separate wars.   Continue reading

THE FIVE MOST DARING MOVIES AND TV SHOWS OF 2014

Here at Balladeer’s Blog I like to save up my lists about highlights of the year until after the year is officially completed. Here’s a look at the most truly irreverent and iconoclastic pieces of work from the year just past. The number one entry will shock you.

Would ALEC BALDWIN find the plot of this movie a little too close to reality?

Would ALEC BALDWIN find the plot of this movie a little too close to reality?

5. THE WORLD’S A STAGE – Yes, I know this film was not the most daring of things, but that’s why it’s in last place on the list. The World’s A Stage still went where other movies fail to go in this age of celebrity worship. Actors in a popular political drama let their roles go to their heads and begin putting on airs as if they are as authoritative as the characters they play.

The foolish voters actually think the actors and actresses must have real gravitas and elect them to high office with hilariously disastrous results.   The idiocy of taking shallow, uninformed and emotionally unstable celebrities seriously when it comes to complex real-world issues is magnificently lampooned in this comedy. Think Aristophanes or Eupolis but in a 21st Century setting. FOR MY FULL-LENGTH REVIEW CLICK HERE: https://glitternight.com/2014/02/26/movie-review-the-worlds-a-stage-2014/

4. AGENTS OF I.S.L.A.M. – This television series was like the flip side of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. The title organization, I.S.L.A.M. (Intolerant Savages Loathing All Modernity) were violent practitioners of a blood-soaked religion which was never named on the show. Various fan theories developed over what religion was being criticized by the program.

The television series depicted agents of I.S.L.A.M. roaming the world and beheading people, mutilating the genitals of women, slitting the throats of infants and countless other acts of random violence against innocent human beings. This was the must-see show of 2014 but the creative team behind the program better stop being so coy in 2015 and finally reveal what religion the show is referring to. Jefferson in his favorite mink stole.

Jefferson in his favorite mink stole.

ZOMBIES OF MONTICELLO (2013) – Halloween month continues at Balladeer’s Blog with this review of cult director Eddie Wozniak’s blood-soaked combination of horror and commentary.

Learn the REAL cause of Thomas Jefferson’s death on July 4th, 1826! On the 50th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence the zombified corpses of all of Jefferson’s dead slaves rise from their graves and besiege him and his extended family in the Jefferson mansion at Monticello!

The pompous hypocrite who penned noble words about freedom and equality while OWNING other human beings tries everything to wipe out the undead legions pressing in on all sides. Continue reading

AGENTS OF I.S.L.A.M: EPISODE FIVE

A SYMBOL OF HATRED AND SLAVERY

A SYMBOL OF HATRED AND SLAVERY

These are busy times for the blood-soaked madmen who serve as agents for the group of homophobic and misogynistic religious fanatics called I.S.L.A.M. (Intolerant Savages Loathing All Modernity)

I.S.L.A.M. STRIKES – In Iraq, through ISIS, just one of the many global franchises of the thriving fascist movement called I.S.L.A.M. At any rate in Iraq the agents of I.S.L.A.M. have opened a SLAVE MARKET WHERE THEY SELL WOMEN. Sandra Fluke, however, probably STILL thinks she has a rougher life.

I.S.L.A.M. STRIKES- Again in Iraq, where agents of I.S.L.A.M. buried 500 Yazidis alive and have told the rest to convert to their barbaric religion or die. American Liberals weighed in to praise I.S.L.A.M. as “gallant freedom fighters combatting western oppression.” Continue reading

AGENTS OF I.S.L.A.M: EPISODE FOUR

I.S.L.A.M. - Where you're never too young to learn to kill and kill and kill some more.

I.S.L.A.M. – Where you’re never too young to learn to kill and kill and kill some more.

The summer of 2014 will forever be remembered as the summer when Agents of I.S.L.A.M. took the nation by storm. This sensational cable television series features the savagely superstitious practitioners of a bloodthirsty religion which is never explicitly named in the series. I.S.L.A.M. (Intolerant Savages Loathing All Modernity) operatives want all gay people dead and treat women like slaves, even mutilating their genitals.

Last night’s episode featured the religious maniacs (I’d love to know what religion they are supposed to represent but producer/director Eddie Wozniak still refuses to say) committing atrocities around the world. Among the actions taken by these barbarians included:

a) shelling a hospital full of their own people and blaming it on another country

b) enslaving hundreds of Yazidi women in Iraq

c) using their own alleged places of worship as recruitment centers for their terrorist attacks Continue reading

A GOLEM BATTLES HAMAS: THE 21st CENTURY GOLEM EPISODE GUIDE

Golem depicted by Philippe Semeria

Golem depicted by Philippe Semeria

With the psychotic barbarians of Hamas proving once again that Islam is the greatest obstacle to world peace it seemed like a good time for a quick take on each individual episode of the cable series 21st Century Golem. For two seasons that edgy, irreverent show presented Jewish folklore’s clay monster the Golem defending Israeli children and the elderly from blood-crazed Hamas butchers with time out to battle the Muslim Brotherhood and Boko Haram for good measure. The pro-Hamas Barack Obama was the blustering comic-relief villain of the series and the actor portraying him has since been subjected to an IRS audit. Here’s a look at the highest-rated cable series in history!

EPISODE ONE – “21st Century Golem” – In the premier episode a Rabbi in Israel brings the clay monster called the Golem to life to fulfill its usual mission of protecting Jews from the hatemongers who always want them dead. The Golem heroically fights off dozens of murderous Hamas child-killers, but Pallywood – the Hamas propoganda arm – tries to make it seem like the Golem is to blame for all the violence. Barack Obama is the only world leader fooled by this and he calls on the U.N. to denounce Israel, which it does with giddy abandon. EPISODE TWO – “Tears Fall From the Sky” – A group of delusional college students from America show up to show their solidarity with Hamas despite Hamas’ misogyny and homophobia. In a possible reference to the real-life Rachel Corrie incident the episode featured the college students summoning up the ghost of a naive young woman who died showing her devotion to terrorism.

This ghost battles the Golem but eventually realizes the error of its ways when the ghost witnesses the Hamas madmen raping and killing the college students who summoned her. The Muslim terrorists were doing so because of the students’ support for women’s rights. The ghost of the slain woman – called “Corinne Smith” in the story – joins the Golem in defeating the Hamas rapists/killers before they can do further harm.
