HUTCHINSON COLLEGE BLUE DRAGONS ARE NJCAA FOOTBALL CHAMPIONS

The Covid-prolonged college football season came to an end with TWO final games:

Hutchinson Blue DragonsNATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – The number 1 team in the nation – the HUTCHINSON COLLEGE BLUE DRAGONS – clashed with the 2nd ranked SNOW COLLEGE BADGERS for the NJCAA football crown yesterday.

The Blue Dragons were chasing the Badgers 14-3 in the 1st Quarter and 14-10 come Halftime. Snow College held a 21-16 advantage to close out the 3rd Quarter but in the 4th Hutchinson College blazed from behind to win it all by a final score of 29-27. * THE BLUE DRAGONS ARE NJCAA FOOTBALL CHAMPIONS Continue reading

MORE COVID-DELAYED COLLEGE FOOTBALL RESULTS

Kilgore CollegeTEXAS THRILLER – The KILGORE COLLEGE RANGERS traveled to face the TRINITY VALLEY COLLEGE CARDINALS. A 9-7 Rangers edge in the 1st Quarter was reduced to an even tighter 15-14 score by Halftime. Kilgore College got a little separation from the Cardinals in the 3rd Quarter, going up 33-26, then held on against a Trinity Valley College rally in the 4th for a 40-36 triumph.

Northeastern_Oklahoma_AMNEO ON THE ROAD – The NORTHEASTERN OKLAHOMA A&M GOLDEN NORSEMEN were likewise on the road, in their case at the BLINN COLLEGE BUCCANEERS. At the Half the Golden Norsemen led the Buccaneers by a score of 14-7 and never looked back from there. After the break Northeastern Oklahoma A&M led 34-14 to end the 3rd Quarter and won the game 41-21 in the 4th. Continue reading

Coffeyville Red Ravens helmetONE-POINT WONDER – The COFFEYVILLE COLLEGE RED RAVENS played host to the BUTLER (KS) GRIZZLIES in a true thriller. A 14-7 1st Quarter lead for the Grizzlies turned into a 16-14 edge for the Red Ravens by Halftime. The 3rd Quarter ended with Butler College back on top by a score of 21-16 and in the 4th Coffeyville outscored their opponents 13-7 for a 29-28 victory.

ASA Miami Silver StormSHUTOUTS – The ASA COLLEGE (FL) SILVER STORM paid a visit to the FIELD OF DREAMS SPORTS ACADEMY STALLIONS and struck them down by a commanding score of 28-0    ###     And the HOCKING COLLEGE HAWKS were less than gracious hosts to the SUSSEX COUNTY COLLEGE SKYLANDERS, drubbing them by a final tally of 25-0. 

Cisco College helmet BLUEWIN IT IN THE FOURTH – In this game the CISCO COLLEGE WRANGLERS took it on the road against the NORTHEASTERN OKLAHOMA A&M GOLDEN NORSEMEN. The Golden Norsemen were out in front 6-0 in the 1st Quarter and 13-0 by the Half. In the 3rd Quarter the Wranglers pulled to within 13-7 before coming from behind in the 4th to win it 17-16. sussex county skylandersHISTORY WAS MADE – The SUSSEX COUNTY COLLEGE SKYLANDERS are playing their very first season of intercollegiate football and have now logged their first W, three games in. The Skylanders welcomed the CAPP ACADEMY CRUSADERS and dominated their opponents on both sides of the ball. By the time the dust settled Sussex County College had triumphed by a score of 48-8.

garden-city-broncbusters-helmet-newDEFENSIVE EPIC – The 4-0 GARDEN CITY COLLEGE BRONCBUSTERS traveled to face the INDEPENDENCE COLLEGE PIRATES. After a scoreless 1st Quarter the Pirates held a 7-0 lead at Halftime. Neither team was able to put up points in the 3rd Quarter, but then in a comparatively action-packed 4th the Broncbusters’ offense finally came alive for a 14-10 triumph and a 5-0 record to this point. Ave Maria helmetNAILBITER IN GEORGIA – The GORDON STATE HIGHLANDERS welcomed the HOCKING COLLEGE HAWKS. Neither team scored in the 1st Quarter but by Halftime the Highlanders were on top of the Hawks by a score of 6-3. The defenses dominated once again in the 3rd Quarter with no points put up, and in the 4th Gordon State held on for a 12-10 victory. 

Navarro CollegeWHAT IS IT BETWEEN TEXAS AND OKLAHOMA? – Teams from Texas and Oklahoma have some classic rivalries and classic games between them. In this matchup the NAVARRO COLLEGE BULLDOGS took on the visiting NORTHEASTERN OKLAHOMA A&M GOLDEN NORSEMEN. A 7-0 1st Quarter lead for the Golden Norsemen turned into a 10-7 Bulldogs edge at the Half. Each team logged 13 more points after the break as Navarro College won it 23-20.

ONE TEAM WAS PLAYING BASKETBALL – The TYLER COLLEGE APACHES tore apart the REZOLUTION PREP WILDCATS by a count of 61-0   ###   Meanwhile the GARDEN CITY COLLEGE BRONCBUSTERS humiliated the HIGHLAND COLLEGE SCOTTIES in a 58-0 laugher   ###   And the INDEPENDENCE COLLEGE PIRATES eviscerated their hosts the FORT SCOTT COLLEGE GREYHOUNDS by a “burn the game tape” score of EIGHTY-FOUR to NOTHING!  Continue reading

MORE NJCAA COLLEGE FOOTBALL RESULTS

More makeup games from Covid reschedulings last fall.

Hutchinson Blue DragonsQUITE A DIFFERENCE – Dedicated fans will remember that the games between the HUTCHINSON COLLEGE BLUE DRAGONS and the BUTLER (KS) GRIZZLIES were often played with the Jayhawk Conference title on the line. Instead of an Instant Classic, this time the Blue Dragons dominated their hosts, leading 28-3 by Halftime on their way to a 41-10 beatdown of the Grizzlies.

Arkansas Baptist College Buffaloes NEWSHUTOUTS – Two Shutouts with unusually low scores this time around: the ARKANSAS BAPTIST COLLEGE BUFFALOES defeated the visiting ELLSWORTH COLLEGE PANTHERS 6-0 with a 4th Quarter TD    ###    And the HOCKING COLLEGE HAWKS won a 10-0 affair at the SUSSEX COUNTY COLLEGE SKYLANDERS. NJCAA COLLEGE FOOTBALL RESULTS

Like the NAIA, the NJCAA’s 2020 college football season extended into this year because of Covid delays.

Snow College Badgers helmetONE-POINT WONDER – The closest game for this time around pitted the SNOW COLLEGE BADGERS against the home-standing IOWA WESTERN COLLEGE REIVERS. The Reivers led their opponents by a score of 7-0 in the 1st Quarter, 13-8 at Halftime and 27-18 to end the 3rd Quarter. In the 4th the Badgers came roaring from behind for a 31-30 victory.

Navarro CollegeTEXAS TUSSLE – The NAVARRO COLLEGE BULLDOGS welcomed the TYLER COLLEGE APACHES. The opening Quarter ended with the Bulldogs on top 14-10, which became a 24-19 edge at the Half. In the 3rd Quarter Navarro College extended their lead to 38-29 before having to hold on against a furious Apaches rally in the 4th. The final count was Bulldogs 53  Tyler College 50. COLLEGE FOOTBALL: NAIA CHAMPIONS CROWNED

The Covid-prolonged NAIA college football season at last came to a close with last night’s title tilt.

Lindsey_Wilson_KYNATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – Grambling Stadium was the site of the NAIA title game. The last two teams standing were the LINDSEY WILSON COLLEGE BLUE RAIDERS and the NORTHWESTERN (IA) COLLEGE RED RAIDERS. This all-Raiders affair saw Lindsey Wilson College go up 7-0 in the 1st Quarter. Continue reading

COLLEGE FOOTBALL: NAIA SEMIFINAL RESULTS

The Covid-delayed college football postseason in the NAIA continues.

Northwestern College Red RaidersFIRST SEMIFINAL – The NORTHWESTERN (IA) COLLEGE RED RAIDERS took down the two-time defending national champions, the MORNINGSIDE COLLEGE MUSTANGS. The Red Raiders visited the champs and spent most of the game chasing them. A 14-9 1st Quarter edge for the Mustangs became 27-23 by Halftime. The 3rd Quarter ended with Morningside College on top 34-29 but in the 4th Northwestern College roared back to win the game 44-41. Continue reading

COLLEGE FOOTBALL PLAYOFFS: QUARTERFINAL RESULTS

For newbies, the many reschedulings over Covid from last fall meant that the NAIA college football playoffs didn’t get started until last weekend. Yesterday was Round Two.

Northwestern College Red RaidersFIRST QUARTERFINAL – The NORTHWESTERN (IA) COLLEGE RED RAIDERS traveled to face the GRAND VIEW UNIVERSITY VIKINGS (should be the Zebras). A 7-0 1st Quarter lead for the Vikings became a 14-7 advantage by Halftime. The 3rd Quarter ended with the Red Raiders on top by a score of 17-14, then both teams notched 10 more points in the 4th as Northwestern College won the game 27-24.

Morningside MustangsSECOND QUARTERFINAL – This game pitted the 2-time defending National Champions – the MORNINGSIDE COLLEGE MUSTANGS – against the visiting BAKER UNIVERSITY WILDCATS. The Wildcats were as tough as ever, leading the Mustangs 14-9 in the opening Quarter and holding a 21-9 lead at the Half. After the break Morningside College came stampeding back, going up 24-21 in the 3rd Quarter, then winning out by a comfortable final count of 45-29. Continue reading
