SCREAMTIME (1984): FILM REVIEW

Screamtime 1Screamtime is one of the forgotten horror anthology films from the 1980s. Supposedly the three main horror tales were originally filmed as individual episodes of a British tv series. Depending on which source you use either the series was cancelled (or never picked up) OR the episodes were deemed to be of too poor a quality.

The trio of horror stories were then edited into movie format for theatrical release with a wraparound story set in New York City. The oddity of the hard-assed New Yorkers watching three veddy, veddy British horror tales is part of the fun of this lame but bearable film. VHS it ain’t. Hell, it’s not even Beta Continue reading

Benedictine RavensNUMBER SIX FALLS IN A DEFENSIVE EPIC – Over in the NAIA (National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics) the BENEDICTINE COLLEGE RAVENS paid a visit to the number 6 team in the nation – the GRAND VIEW UNIVERSITY VIKINGS. CCCAA FOOTBALL RESULTS

Santa Barbara City College helmetDOUBLE OVERTIME DYNAMITE – The SANTA BARBARA CITY COLLEGE VAQUEROS played host to the CITRUS COLLEGE OWLS in a game for the ages. The Vaqueros trailed the Owls 7-0 in the 1st Quarter and 14-10 at Halftime. The 3rd Quarter ended with Citrus College on top 28-17 but Santa Barbara City College came back to force Overtime with a 31-31 tie to end Regulation. The teams exchanged TDs in the 1st OT but in the 2nd the Vaqueros’ Carlos Benitez returned a blocked PAT for 2 points, cutting it to a 44-40 Owl lead. From there a TD run made it a 46-44 SBCC win. NJCAA COLLEGE FOOTBALL SCORES

Kilgore CollegeRANGERS TOPPLE THE APACHES – The unranked KILGORE COLLEGE RANGERS took the field against the number 8 team in the nation – the TYLER COLLEGE APACHES. The Rangers trailed the visiting Apaches 10-0 to end the 1st Quarter but pulled to within 16-14 by Halftime. After the break Kilgore College took control, ultimately upsetting Tyler College in a 50-29 rout. 

Coffeyville Red Ravens helmetWHEN RANKED TEAMS CLASH – The number 11 COFFEYVILLE COLLEGE RED RAVENS traveled to face the 17th ranked DODGE CITY COLLEGE CONQUISTADORS in a Jayhawk Conference showdown. The Red Ravens seized a 14-6 1st Quarter lead and expanded that to a 24-12 advantage by the midpoint. The 3rd Quarter ended with Coffeyville College clinging to a 24-19 edge over the Conquistadors. In the end the Red Ravens prevailed 31-26.  Continue reading

CCCAA FOOTBALL RESULTS

Saddleback_CANUMBER THREE TAKES A FALL – The 6th ranked SADDLEBACK COLLEGE GAUCHOS welcomed the number 3 FULLERTON COLLEGE HORNETS for a Battle Royal. The Gauchos trailed the Hornets 14-6 in the 1st Quarter and 21-17 by Halftime. The 3rd Quarter ended with Fullerton College clinging to a 24-23 edge but Saddleback College managed a 4th Quarter comeback for a 30-27 victory. Continue reading

COLLEGE FOOTBALL RESULTS FROM OCTOBER 22nd

davenport panthers helmetDAVENPORT CONQUERS THE WORLD – As usual an NAIA team toppled a team from a higher division in yesterday’s action. The NAIA’s DAVENPORT UNIVERSITY PANTHERS squared off against the visiting QUINCY UNIVERSITY HAWKS from NCAA Division TWO. This was a true game for the ages, with the Panthers squeezing out a 14-10 upset.

West Texas A&MTHAT WAS NUMBER FIIIIIIVE! – The unranked WEST TEXAS A&M BUFFALOES welcomed the number 5 team in the nation – the MIDWESTERN STATE MUSTANGS. For 4 bruising Quarters these two teams went blow for blow but there could only be one winner. That winner turned out to be the Buffaloes, who dragged down the Mustangs by a score of 35-27.   Continue reading

COLLEGE FOOTBALL RESULTS: CCCAA

Golden West College RustlersTAKING DOWN NUMBER TWO – The unranked GOLDEN WEST COLLEGE RUSTLERS engaged in a gridiron grudge match with the visiting 2nd ranked SADDLEBACK COLLEGE GAUCHOS. After a scoreless 1st Quarter the Rustlers managed a 7-0 edge by Halftime. From there Golden West College clung to a 14-10 lead over the Gauchos to end the 3rd Quarter and held their opponents off for a 20-17 upset win. 

Mount San Antonio College MountiesNUMBER FIVE WENT DOWN, TOO – The number 13 MOUNT SAN ANTONIO COLLEGE MOUNTIES hosted the 5th ranked LONG BEACH COLLEGE VIKINGS (should be the Beachcombers). The storied Mounties seized a 6-0 1st Quarter lead then expanded that into a 20-3 advantage by the midpoint. After the break Mount SAC stayed in control, improving to 4-2 with a 34-3 triumph.  Continue reading
