Comment: What better way to kick off Frontierado holiday week than with a college whose teams have a western theme? The name Roughriders always conjures up Continue reading
Recently I looked at NCAA Division 3 players signed to NFL teams. Now let’s take a look at the NAIA football players signed by NFL teams in this year’s odd, frenzied period of free agent signings.
The Chargers took Patrick Crayton from the NWOSU Rangers, the Bills took Michael Jasper from the Continue reading
Here at Frontierado international headquarters things are as hectic as you would imagine with the Frontierado holiday coming up this Friday, August 5th. Various mayors, governors and heads of state are all contacting me to get the official Frontierado imprimatur on the events they are planning in their communities. I’m never too busy to pass along a tip, though and for the past few years I’ve gotten my buffalo steaks, buffalo butt chili and other items from Buffalo Gal! Express delivery is available and Buffalo Gal now carries elk meat as well!
At the Media Day events for the Jayhawk Conference (Unofficial slogan: The greatest concentration of cool-named teams in college sports) the Hutchinson Blue Dragons were picked to finish second, behind perennial nemesis Butler (KS). The Blue Dragons are fresh off a 10-2 season and a Salt City Bowl victory over the Eastern Arizona College Gila Monsters. Will this be the year they Continue reading
It’s the most wonderful time of the year! Just one week until Frontierado and then the event that we all look forward to all year long will be over, so let’s milk all the enjoyment we can out of this Frontierado season! This picture is of the Drovers, the Official College Sports Team of Frontierado! They play for the University of Science and Arts of Oklahoma, the very first school to give my blog publicity last summer and to make their student-athletes available for my probing yet inane interviews. You could say Drover is the 21st Century word for a cowboy.
Anyway, with just one week to go I figured I’d do a Fronteriado Roll of Honor involving the non-shy people who okayed making their Sagas public. Here are the names, and for added fun I didn’t add links this time – all of you can have fun doing a google search under your Frontierado names, since you’re all the number one result under each of them! (Sorry, Lady London, but you’ll have to search under “Lady London Didi” because of all the London entries)
SIX-GUN SARA – This ballsy lady was the Continue reading
Remember all the way back to last football season, when the Gulf South Conference was still being called “The SEC of Division 2 Football”? What a difference a year makes. Last season Balladeer’s Blog covered the departure of teams from the GSC and the Lone Star Conference in order to form the Great American Conference. The Gulf South was hit the worst, losing over half their football schools, as opposed to three from the LSC. Though retaining an overall membership of nine institutions only five of those remaining GSC schools sponsor football. Wow.
The Delta State Statesmen are the preseason pick to Continue reading
With the NFL strike officially over Free Agent signings have begun so the time seemed right to look at some of the Free Agents picked up from the divisions Balladeer’s Blog covers.
Since I’m starting with Giovanni Stanley of the Whittier College Poets (one of my Cool-Named Team of the Day entries from awhile back) that’s why the Poets’ logo is featured here. Stanley stayed on the west coast by Continue reading
A look at my detailed entry on the Inuit goddess who ruled over narwhals. For more Inuit deities click here: https://glitternight.com/inuit-myth/
ATUQTUQARNAQ – The narwhal goddess, who had the form of a whale-sized mermaid with her hair sculpted into the traditional horn/tusk of the narwhals she ruled over. Before Sedna transformed her into the narwhal deity she was an abusive mother to Continue reading

Comment: As always I have a soft spot for teams that combine my passion for college sports with my passion for mythology. I think they should adopt a cheer that Continue reading
We are just 12 days away from the Frontierado holiday on Friday August 5th.We’ve examined Sagas, weird westerns, quality westerns and other Frontierado traditions. Time for another drink recipe for those of legal drinking age. Previously I gave you the recipe for a Cactus Jack and now I’ll give you the recipe for another traditional Frontierado drink. It’s called a Deuces Wild and Continue reading
