As one of my overseas readers put it recently “A lot of Americans need to grow up and stop thinking that their elections, alone of all nations in the world, are paragons of honesty.” Independent Voter site Balladeer’s Blog doesn’t need convinced of that. For 11 years, since 2010 I’ve run several blog posts regarding news stories about vote fraud, including arrests and convictions or confessions. (And remember, I don’t go along with conspiracy theories. YEARS ago I dismissed the Q-Anon items as nonsense, so none of my opinions were ever based on that.)
I’ve also written quite a bit on how largely discussed it is that the 1876 and year 2000 elections saw the likely losers go on to occupy the White House because of less-than-honest maneuvering regarding the counting of ballots. Admitting such things has not resulted in the collapse of the country.
Most recently, regarding the 2020 election we’ve already seen several court rulings that the last-minute changes to how to count mail-in ballots were against election laws and should not have been allowed. Obviously, there is no going back now to change results in key states, which presumably was part of the reasoning behind making changes so close to the election – it allowed too little time for the cases to be heard before Election Day.
For even more suspicious hijinks the Supreme Court, which abetted the execrable George W Bush sneaking into the White House in the year 2000, played a new game with the 2020 election. First the court refused to hear cases because the election hadn’t been held yet, then when cases reached them AFTER the election they ruled that the cases were moot because the election was over. And yes, one of the many things wrong with America’s Supreme Court is the way it is allowed to decline cases on a whim, when cases brought by states (among other exceptions) should be required to be heard.
And as I always remind anti-Trump loons, RELAX. None of the investigations into the clear violations during the 2020 election will be able to remove Biden and replace him with Trump. But the investigations must be done in the hope of preventing similar situations in the future, just like the deep looks into what happened in 1876 and the year 2000. Like the above overseas readers said, “grow up.” America is not an “exceptional” place where such events cannot occur. Study them and learn. (And remember the poll that said more than half the voters believe the election was not on the level.)

HAPPY MEMORIAL DAY! As usual, Balladeer’s Blog marks the occasion with a look at a neglected aspect of American military history. Spare some thoughts today for the men who perished in this action. 
With the World War still raging, the other Allied Nations prevailed on President Woodrow Wilson to divert some American forces intended for the Western Front to Archangel and beyond, joining a combined army of Brits, Poles and White Russians. The fighting in North Russia dragged on past the end of the global conflict in November of 1918 into June of 1919. The fighting in Eastern Russia dragged on until January of 1920. In other words, if the Americans sent to Russia had instead gone to their original destination of France, their combat operations would have ended on November 11th, rather than continuing for more than a year of further bloodshed and loss of limbs from frostbite. All the more reason to remember the often-neglected troops who served there. 
Independent voter site Balladeer’s Blog notes ONCE AGAIN that the Democrats’ media outlets have humiliated themselves because of their reflexive, irrational need to wrongly label information “lies” just because that information came from de facto Third Party President Donald Trump. Last year the very valid statement that there was some evidence linking Covid-19 to a Wuhan Laboratory was hysterically condemned as a “lie” by Democrats in the media and Big Tech Fascists at Twitter, Facebook, etc rushed to censor that information. Now, the CDC and even the Democrats at the New York Times, Washington Post and elsewhere are admitting they were wrong AGAIN, with some of them hilariously blaming Trump for their mistakes. Actually, the corporate media’s well-known biases are to blame, as usual. This has happened over and over to the point that it’s becoming a truism to say that there may be nothing truer than something that was labeled a “Trump lie.”

WITH THE FRENCH FOREIGN LEGION IN SYRIA (1928) – Written by a British former member of the French Foreign Legion using the alias John Harvey. Previously, Balladeer’s Blog examined the excellent 1895 short story collection titled 
John Harvey’s With The French Foreign Legion In Syria instead wallows in the tawdry and brutal side of the Legion. Instead of James O’Neill’s poetic, astonishingly prescient tales, this volume presents an ugly and sensationalistic take on the FFL. It would have stood in stark contrast to stories romanticizing the Legion as written by P.C. Wren and others. No movies of the time would have touched these violent, vulgar Peckinpah-style antics. Get ready for a look at some Legionnaires who would make The Wild Bunch look genteel. 
And yet ANOTHER anti-Trump lie is finally abandoned by the Democrats at the New York Times (links below). Here at Independent Voter site Balladeer’s Blog I can certainly understand hostile feelings toward given presidents. Regular readers know how much I despise George W Bush and Barack Obama, but I also pointed out when I thought negative stories about them were absurdly over the top. With de facto Third Party President Donald Trump it’s like the media did nothing BUT absurdly over the top stories about him that fell apart under the most casual scrutiny. 
Balladeer’s Blog takes a look at several buried treasures which legends maintain may still be out there for the finding. 
Independent Voter site Balladeer’s Blog can’t help but notice that the corrupt and senile Joe Biden has been far worse than advertised. His all-out war on the working class and the poor has inflicted untold suffering around the nation. His hate-filled and racist travel ban against India is a disgrace. Biden has been the most hate-filled and divisive president imaginable as well as being one of the worst for the poor and needy. A disaster like Joe Biden and his ilk should never be wished upon any country.
