BAD MOVIE SHORT: THE MEANEST MAN IN THE WORLD (1954)
The United Fund
THE MEANEST MAN IN THE WORLD (1954) – This heavy-handed United Fund short was probably effective in its day. Back then people may have felt they were being too callous by openly laughing at the antics in this public service message.
Our central character, “Jim”, comes home late at night after a marathon work day. He startles his wife, who, in typical 50’s fashion sleeps in a separate bed. In fact he startles her SO much you get the impression she had a man on the side who may have left her bed a little too close to Jim’s homecoming for comfort.
Jim’s got even bigger problems, though. Money is tight, so tight that Jim tells his still-paniced wife that this year they won’t be able to afford their usual contribution to the United Fund. Our hero then falls asleep, while the disgusted narrator of this ham-fisted production sneers at his alleged callousness.
Now the real fun begins. This joyously tasteless production tries to equate being unable to afford a United Fund contribution to monumental acts of deliberate cruelty. LIBERALS AND CONSERVATIVES ARE THE EXACT SAME KIND OF PEOPLE
The ruling class enjoying a moment together far from the chaos they’ve mired the rest of us in.
This week we got another reminder that the Democratic and Republican party office-holders consider themselves “the ruling class” and the rest of us mere peasants. In Congress there was at last some bi-partisan cooperation – BOTH parties now admit what a disaster Obamacare is and introduced legislation TO EXEMPT THEMSELVES AND THEIR STAFF MEMBERS FROM IT!
If Obamacare is so wonderful why do they want exempted from it themselves and why do they feel it will attract quality employees to their staffs to have the PERK of being exempt from it? Sounds like those demagogues hate Obamacare as much as the rest of us do and as much as EVERY doctor that I and everyone I know has spoken to hate it.
Let’s look at other reasons why Liberals and Conservatives are the same kind of people:
Liberals think they are the country’s official “intellectuals” and that they possess “the one true world view”. They feel that this qualifies them to use the apparatus of government to rule every aspect of our lives. ENGINEERS DO IT WITH SLIDE-RULES – The unranked ROSE-HULMAN INSTITUTE ENGINEERS managed a split with the number 9 MANCHESTER SPARTANS yesterday. The Engineers doubled-up on the Spartans by a score of 6-3 in the first game but the Spartans turned the tables on them in the second game, crushing them 10-1. Believe it or not this was the only upset in the Top 25 in yesterday’s action!
