NJCAA DIVISION ONE

Walters State SenatorsEAST CENTRAL DISTRICT: CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – The storied WALTERS STATE SENATORS faced the GORDON STATE HIGHLANDERS in this District’s title tilt. A 2-1 Highlanders edge in the 1st Inning became a 2-2 tie in the 2nd.

The Senators added additional Runs in the 4th, 5th and 6th Innings on their way to a 5-2 triumph. Walters State Pitcher Blake Petty threw for the win. * THE SENATORS ARE CHAMPIONS OF THE EAST CENTRAL DISTRICT

Central Arizona College Vaqueros NEWWESTERN DISTRICT: CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – In this matchup the CENTRAL ARIZONA COLLEGE VAQUEROS did battle with the COLLEGE OF SOUTHERN NEVADA COYOTES. In the 1st Inning the Vaqueros shot out to a 7-0 lead.

By the 4th Inning Central Arizona College extended that to an unbelievable 16-2 advantage. The Coyotes’ attempted rally fell far short as the Vaqueros won it 16-7 for Pitcher Avery Jones. * THE VAQUEROS ARE CHAMPIONS OF THE WESTERN DISTRICT *

NJCAA DIVISION TWO

Monroe Rochester College TribunesEAST DISTRICT: CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – The MONROE (Rochester) COLLEGE TRIBUNES took the diamond against the ULSTER COUNTY COLLEGE SENATORS. Neither team scored in the first 3 Innings of this Pitcher’s Duel.

In the 4th Inning the Tribunes went up 1-0 then made it a 2-0 game in the 7th. Four more Runs in the top of the 9th Inning let Monroe at Rochester advance to the World Series with a 6-0 shutout. Matt Petrossi got the Win. * THE TRIBUNES ARE CHAMPIONS OF THE EAST DISTRICT * Continue reading

COLLEGE BASEBALL: NCAA D3 REGIONALS

NCAA DIVISION THREE

Denison University Big RedADRIAN, MI REGION, DAY ONE: The top seeds – the DENISON UNIVERSITY BIG RED – took on the 4th seeded LA ROCHE COLLEGE REDHAWKS and shut them out 4-0.    ###     And the 2nd seeded HEIDELBERG UNIVERSITY STUDENT PRINCES won a 4-3 game for the ages over the 3 seeds – the ADRIAN COLLEGE BULLDOGS.

Cortland State Red Dragons logoCORTLAND, NY REGION, DAY ONE: The top seeded CORTLAND STATE RED DRAGONS did battle with the 4 seeds – the ALVERNIA UNIVERSITY GOLDEN WOLVES – and defeated them 7-3.    ###     And the 3 seeds – the TUFTS UNIVERSITY JUMBOS – folded, spindled and mutilated the 2nd seeded PENN STATE AT HARRISBURG LIONS by a final count of THIRTEEN to FIVE.   

Susquehanna University River Hawks logoBALTIMORE, MD REGION, DAY ONE: The 4 seeds – the SUSQUEHANNA UNIVERSITY RIVER HAWKS – toppled the top seeded COLLEGE OF NEW JERSEY LIONS in a 5-4 Instant Classic of an Upset.    ###     And the 2nd seeded JOHNS HOPKINS UNIVERSITY BLUE JAYS downed the 3 seeds – the FARMINGDALE STATE RAMS – in a 6-2 affair. FINAL THREE COLLEGE WORLD SERIES CHAMPS CROWNED

* NCAA DIVISION TWO *

Tampa SpartansCHAMPIONSHIP GAME – The storied UNIVERSITY OF TAMPA SPARTANS took on the CATAWBA COLLEGE INDIANS for the D2 title. After 2 scoreless Innings the Indians took a 1-0 lead in the 3rd but the Spartans countered that with a 2-1 edge in the 4th. The University of Tampa shut out Catawba College the rest of the way while slamming in an insurance run in the 7th Inning. The Spartans won their 7th National Championship and their 2nd in the last 3 years by a final score of 3-1. NAIA WORLD SERIES TITLE GAME AND MORE COLLEGE BASEBALL RESULTS

Lewis-Clark State Warriors NEWCHAMPIONSHIP GAME – The 4 seeds – the LEWIS-CLARK STATE WARRIORS – did battle with the Cinderella 9 seeds – the SAINT THOMAS (FL) UNIVERSITY BOBCATS. The Bobcats looked like they might keep on dancing as they seized a quick 5-0 advantage in the 1st Inning. The Warriors cut that lead to 5-1 in the 3rd but Saint Thomas University stretched it back out to a 7-1 lead in the 5th. No one knew it at the time but that was the last run the Bobcats would score in the game. Lewis-Clark State put up 2 runs in the 6th Inning, 1 more in the 7th and after a lightning delay SIX more in the 8th. The Warriors won their 17th title in baseball and their 1st since 2009 by a score of 10-7. ONE MORE CHAMPION CROWNED PLUS ADDITIONAL WORLD SERIES ACTION

Tyler ApachesCHAMPIONSHIP GAME – The last two teams standing in this division’s World Series were the TYLER COLLEGE APACHES and the JOLIET COLLEGE WOLVES. After a scoreless 1st Inning the Apaches seized a 3-0 lead in the 2nd. That became a 4-2 lead in the 4th Inning, 7-6 in the 5th and 9-6 in the 6th. Tyler College added 1 more run in the 7th while the Wolves logged 3 of their own. That ended the scoring, however, and the Apaches won this game for the ages by a count of 10-9. ANOTHER CHAMPION CROWNED AND MORE COLLEGE WORLD SERIES ACTION

Cortland State Red Dragons logoCHAMPIONSHIP GAME – The CORTLAND STATE RED DRAGONS won their first ever National Championship yesterday! The previous day the Red Dragons had won Game One of the Championship Series against the UW- LACROSSE EAGLES. They seemed in danger of losing Game Two, which would have forced a rubber game. In the top of the 9th Inning Cortland State came to bat trailing 2-1. LATEST COLLEGE WORLD SERIES RESULTS

* NCAA DIVISION THREE *

Cortland State Red Dragons logoCHAMPIONSHIP SERIES – The CORTLAND STATE RED DRAGONS won Game One of the 2015 World Series in D3 in commanding style. First up the UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN AT LACROSSE EAGLES fought the TRINITY (TX) UNIVERSITY TIGERS for the right to play the Red Dragons. The Eagles won a 10-7 affair to advance to the title series.

Cortland State parlayed a 2-0 1st Inning lead into a 5-0 advantage in the 2nd on their way to an ELEVEN to THREE rout of UW-Lacrossse. Pitcher Brandon McClain got the win. Game Two in the best of 3 series comes next.

St Thomas (Fl) Bobcats logoDAY FOUR – GAME ONE – The Cinderella 9 seeds – The SAINT THOMAS (FL) UNIVERSITY BOBCATS – are still dancing after eliminating the top seeded OKLAHOMA BAPTIST UNIVERSITY BISON. The Bobcats were on top most of the way, leading 1-0 in the 1st Inning, 3-0 in the 4th and 4-0 in the 5th. The Bison notched 1 run in the 6th Inning and 3 more in the top of the 9th to tie the score at 4-4. In the bottom of the 9th St Thomas University knocked in a run to win the game 5-4. COLLEGE WORLD SERIES ACTION CONTINUES

St Thomas (Fl) Bobcats logoDAY THREE – GAME ONE – This elimination game pitted the 9th seeded SAINT THOMAS (FL) UNIVERSITY BOBCATS against the 10 seeds – the VANGUARD UNIVERSITY LIONS. The Bobcats seized a 3-0 lead in the 1st Inning and made it a 5-3 lead in the 3rd. Saint Thomas University let a 9-4 5th Inning lead slip away and the score stood at 10-10 when the Lions were done batting in the top of the 8th. The Bobcats slammed in 4 runs in their half of the Inning and rode them to a 14-10 victory. Chris Rodriguez got credit for the win. Continue reading

Mercyhurst University Lakers logoDAY TWO – GAME ONE – Starting off the day in D2 World Series play was this battle between the MERCYHURST UNIVERSITY LAKERS and the TRUMAN STATE BULLDOGS. After a scoreless 1st Inning the Lakers grabbed a 1-0 edge over the Bulldogs in the 2nd. In the 5th Inning Truman State tied the game at 1-1 and that is where things remained deadlocked until the ELEVENTH Inning when Mercyhurst University knocked in 2 runs, then shut out the Bulldogs for a 3-1 victory.
