NCCAA WORLD SERIES SEMIFINALS PLUS NAIA DAY ONE RESULTS

Warner Royals logo 2FIRST SEMIFINAL: This game pitted the 3 seeds – the WARNER UNIVERSITY ROYALS – against the top seeded SOUTHWESTERN CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY EAGLES. A 1-1 tie in the 1st Inning became a 3-2 Royals lead in the 3rd.

A huge 4th Inning for Warner University expanded their advantage to 7-2. From there the Eagles mustered just 1 more Run each in the 6th and 9th Innings while the Royals added 2 of their own in the 8th. Warner U won the game 9-4 behind Pitcher Joey Theune. Continue reading

NCCAA COLLEGE WORLD SERIES: DAY TWO RESULTS

POOL PLAY: DAY TWO

College of the Ozarks BobcatsThe 7 seeds – the COLLEGE OF THE OZARKS BOBCATS – won two games yesterday. In Game One of Day Two they took on the 6th seeded TRINITY CHRISTIAN COLLEGE TROLLS. A 2-0 2nd Inning lead for the Bobcats became a 2-1 game by the 4th. Both teams’ bats caught fire the final 3 Innings but College of the Ozarks won it 10-6 behind Pitcher Bryce Burtless. 

In the 5th game of the day the Bobcats faced the 10 seeds – the RANDALL UNIVERSITY SAINTS. The score was knotted up at 1-1 in the 1st Inning before the College of the Ozarks went on top 2-1 in the 2nd Inning. A 6-3 5th Inning advantage for the Bobcats held up as the final tally, too, with Pitcher Andrew Huckaby on the Mound for 9 Iron Man Innings for the victors. 

Southwestern Christian U EaglesThe top seeded SOUTHWESTERN CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY EAGLES took the diamond against the 9 seeds – the ECCLESIA COLLEGE ROYALS – in the 4th game of the day. A 1-1 tie in the opening Inning became a 2-1 Eagles lead in the 2nd. The 5th Inning saw the Royals go up 3-2 before SCU knotted the score at 3-3 in the 7th. From there the Eagles won the game 5-4 for Pitcher Hayden Woolsey. Continue reading

COLLEGE WORLD SERIES RESULTS: NAIA AND USCAA

Wright State Lake Campus LakersDAY ONE: GAME ONE – The 4 seeds – the WRIGHT STATE AT THE LAKE LAKERS – took the diamond against the 5th seeded MISSISSIPPI UNIVERSITY FOR WOMEN (now co-ed) OWLS. The Owls went up 1-0 in the 1st Inning following which neither team scored in the 2nd through 4th.

In the 5th Inning the Lakers grabbed a 3-1 advantage then added 2 more Runs the rest of the way, compared to the 1 mustered by MUW. Wright State at the Lake won the game 5-2 for Pitcher Cross Youtsler.

newportnewsapprentice-school-builderDAY ONE: GAME TWO – The top seeded NEWPORT NEWS APPRENTICE SCHOOL BUILDERS (Shipbuilders) faced the 9 seeds – the SELMA UNIVERSITY BULLDOGS. The Builders parlayed a 2-0 1st Inning edge into an 8-0 lead in the 2nd.

Each team notched a Run in the 4th Inning to make it a 9-1 game with Newport News Apprentice School on top. From there the Builders put up 2 more in the 6th for an 11-1 blowout win. Pitcher Paul Jones was on the Mound for the entire game for NNAS.  Continue reading

COLLEGE BASEBALL: MORE NCCAA REGIONAL CHAMPIONS CROWNED

Here are those Regional Champions who have joined Concordia (MI) so far in punching their tickets to the College World Series in the NCCAA (National Christian College Athletic Association):

NORTH CENTRAL REGION

TRINITY CHRISTIAN TROLLCHAMPIONSHIP GAME: The top seeds – the TRINITY CHRISTIAN COLLEGE TROLLS – did battle with the 2nd seeded HANNIBAL-LAGRANGE UNIVERSITY TROJANS. After 2 scoreless Innings the Trolls went on top 2-0 in the 3rd.

The Trojans knotted things up at 2-2 in the 5th Inning, then neither team scored again until Trinity Christian College won it 4-2 in the 9th. Bryan Vanderlee pitched for the win. * THE TROLLS ARE CHAMPIONS OF THE NORTH CENTRAL REGION * Continue reading

TWO MORE COLLEGE BASEBALL CHAMPS CROWNED

Campbellsville Tigers logoCHAMPIONSHIP GAME – The 3rd seeded CAMPBELLSVILLE UNIVERSITY TIGERS did battle with the Cinderella 7 seeds – the WARNER UNIVERSITY ROYALS.

The Royals seized a quick 2-0 lead in the 1st Inning but by the end of the 2nd the score was knotted up at 3-3. In the 4th Inning Warner University went on top 4-3 but in the 5th the Tigers tied things up again at 4-4. The 7th Inning saw Campbellsville U tack on 3 more runs while the Royals could muster just 2 more in the 9th as the Tigers won it 7-6. NCCAA COLLEGE WORLD SERIES: DAY ONE RESULTS

saint katherine firebirdsThe 6th seeded UNIVERSITY OF SAINT KATHERINE FIREBIRDS served up one of the biggest upsets of Day One of Pool Play at this year’s NCCAA World Series. After taking 3rd seeded Campbellsville University out to FIFTEEN INNINGS before dropping a 5-4 game the Firebirds faced the 2nd ranked COLORADO CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY COUGARS. Continue reading

COLLEGE WORLD SERIES RESULTS: NCCAA, NJCAA AND NCAA

THE NAIA HAD A DAY OFF, SO THEIR SCORES RESUME TOMORROW.

*** NCCAA ***

Oklahoma Baptist University Bison BIGCHAMPIONSHIP GAME: The top seeded OKLAHOMA BAPTIST UNIVERSITY BISON and the 5 seeds – the CAMPBELLSVILLE UNIVERSITY TIGERS – were the last two teams standing in the NCCAA (National Christian College Athletic Association). After a scoreless 1st Inning the Tigers went up 2-0 in the 2nd but the Bison cut that to a 2-1 edge in the 3rd.

The score was 3-2 with Campbellsville University on top to end the 4th Inning and the 5th saw the Tigers extend their lead to 6-2. Oklahoma Baptist University fought their way back to within 6-4 in the 6th and by the end of the 8th had knotted things up at 6-6. The 9th Inning ended in the same score but in the TENTH INNING the Bison won it 7-6. Tyler Gibson pitched for the win. * THE BISON ARE CHAMPIONS OF NCCAA BASEBALL

*** NCAA DIVISION TWO ***

Colorado Mesa University Mavericks logoDAY TWO, GAME ONE: The COLORADO MESA UNIVERSITY MAVERICKS played the QUINCY UNIVERSITY HAWKS to start the 2nd day in the D2 World Series. The first 3 Innings were a Pitcher’s Duel with neither team scoring but the 4th ended with the Mavericks on top 2-1. The Hawks pulled ahead 3-2 in the 6th followed by Colorado Mesa University exploding in the 7th for 5 runs. It was all but over from there as the Mavericks took the game by a tally of 10-3 behind Pitcher Tyler Day. Continue reading
