MUSLIM RAMADAN MURDER-PALOOZA 2016: FINAL BODY COUNT

Behead THose who say Islam is violent

The sign says it all.

As Muslim Violence Awareness Year rolls along Balladeer’s Blog presents the final death toll from attacks by Muslim fanatics THIS Ramadan season. Islam is all about hatred, killing, homophobia, misogyny and oppression so naturally the Ramadan season is always blood-soaked.

THE FINAL COUNT FROM MUSLIM FASCISTS THIS RAMADAN: 1,803 innocent people killed and over 1,950 injured. Obama probably blamed all the killing on the NRA.

KILLS FROM FANATICS OF OTHER RELIGIONS DURING THIS SAME PERIOD: Continue reading →

THE MAN CALLED NOON (1973)

Man called NoonFrontierado is on Friday August 5th!

In the past Balladeer’s Blog has examined some of the big names among the fictional gunslingers of Spaghetti Westerns. I’ve covered the original Django, Sartana, the Holy Ghost, Dynamite Joe, Harmonica and even Tony Anthony’s character the Stranger. Here is a look at the Italo-Western hero Noon.

The Man Called Noon (1973)

The Story: Long before Robert Ludlum’s amnesiac secret agent Jason Bourne came this film. Based on a Louis L’Amour story The Man Called Noon featured Richard Crenna as the title character, an amnesiac who has incredible abilities with a gun but no knowledge of his past.

Just like Jason Bourne in the later novel, our hero Rubal Noon must piece together who he really is, why he has access to some large sums of money  and why various dangerous factions want him dead. He also struggles to survive while all this chaos closes in on him. Luckily his instinctive skill at killing keeps him alive, albeit increasingly confused.   Continue reading →

AMERICA (1924): A SILENT FILM FOR INDEPENDENCE DAY

America 1924Regular readers of Balladeer’s Blog are familiar with my fondness for old Silent Movies. America was D.W. Griffith’s 1924 production about the Revolutionary War. The movie is pleasant enough for the July 4th holiday season, but don’t expect a classic like The Phantom of the Opera, The Mark of Zorro or many other masterpieces of the silent era.

Batman fans may enjoy the fact that a very young Neil Hamilton – Commissioner Gordon on the much later Adam West Batman show – starred in America as Nathan Holden, a rebel Minute Man in Massachusetts. Nathan is part of a Romeo and Juliet-styled romance and is in love with Nancy Montague (Carol Dempster), who belongs to a Tory family still loyal to England.

America 1924 2The Holdens can’t stand the snobbish Montagues and the Montagues pompously look down on the Holdens and the rest of the rebels. Nancy’s father would rather see Nancy married off to the prominent British military officer Captain Walter Butler, played with aristocratic and sadistic flair by THE Lionel Barrymore.

The star-crossed lovers Nathan and Nancy struggle to keep their romance alive against the backdrop of historical events like the Boston Tea Party, Paul Revere’s Ride, the Battle of Bunker Hill and many others.Various actors portray figures like John Hancock, Samuel Adams, William Pitt, King George III, Thomas Jefferson, Patrick Henry, Richard Henry Lee and, of course, George Washington. HAPPY FOURTH OF JULY 2016

American flagBalladeer’s Blog wishes a happy birthday to the USA! What happened in early July of 1776 certainly needs no rehashing so in keeping with my blog’s theme of addressing more out of the way subjects this post will examine various events that took place on other July 4th’s throughout American history.

JULY 4TH, 1778 – George Rogers Clark led his rebel forces in taking the British stronghold of Kaskaskia, near the confluence of the Mississippi and Kaskaskia Rivers. Clark and his Rangers were on a mission for then-Virginia Governor Patrick Henry.

JULY 4TH, 1783 – The Massachusetts Supreme Court is finalizing its written decision holding that slavery has been illegal in the state since adoption of the Massachusetts Declaration of Rights in 1780.

JULY 4TH, 1788 – Continue reading →

FOURTH OF JULY MUSICAL: 1776

1776-musical-movieIt may be my fondness for mythology that makes me love to watch particular movies around particular holidays.  I say that because many of the well- known myths were recited on ancient holidays when their subject matter was relevant to those holidays. The stories helped accentuate the meaning of the special events and that’s the way I use various movies. At Christmas I watch countless variations of A Christmas Carol, around Labor Day I watch Eight Men Out, at Halloween The Evil Dead and the original Nightmare On Elm Street, Thanksgiving Eve I do Oliver! and for Frontierado (which is just a month away now) I do Silverado.

Since the actual 4th of July is loaded with activity I always show 1776 on the night before. It’s a great way to get in the mood for Independence Day. It’s a musical but with brilliant dialogue portions and the story involves the political maneuvering  surrounding the Original Thirteen Colonies at last announcing their independence from Great Britain, more than a year after Continue reading →

LIBERALS AND CONSERVATIVES: WHAT KEEPS THEM UP AT NIGHT

liberals and conservativesWHAT KEEPS AMERICAN LIBERALS UP AT NIGHT –

American Liberals can’t sleep at night fretting over the fact that there are people in the world who still have the freedom to disagree with them. They’ve done their best to use the apparatus of government and the educational system  to  eliminate dissenting voices but their attempts at browbeating the rest of us into mindlessly agreeing with everything they say just alienates more and more of us every day.

American Liberals delude themselves that only Conservatives are disgusted with them. Their attitude toward everyone who actually dares to think for themselves is the same attitude that stereotypical Christian Missionaries used to show to the indigenous populations they tried to convert. They’re convinced they know what’s best for all of us and never, ever question their own preconceived notions or reevaluate their outdated worldview. American Liberals are so far behind the rest of us that they actually think they’re ahead.

WHAT KEEPS AMERICAN CONSERVATIVES UP AT NIGHT – Continue reading →

REVOLUTIONARY WAR: PART TWO OF NEGLECTED NAVAL BATTLES

Revolutionary War naval battlesBalladeer’s Blog continues its examination of neglected naval clashes of the Revolutionary War.

APRIL 27th, 1778 – THE John Paul Jones, leading a detachment from the USS Ranger, raided the British port of Whitehaven. The detachment’s commando-style raid resulted in Continue reading →

FOOLKILLER 17: FOOLKILLER LEAVES THE DEFENDERS

Foolkiller statue painted

Summer means superhero films so Balladeer’s Blog’s “Script Doctoring” of Marvel’s handling of Foolkiller continues with Part Seventeen.

FOR PART ONE CLICK  HERE

Our anti-hero Foolkiller (Greg Salinger) ends his run with the dynamic non-team called the Defenders this time around. Valkyrie’s vendetta against the Mandrill is center-stage as is that mutant villain’s vendetta against the Defenders, Daredevil and his own parents.

The lives of millions of innocent people are at risk in addition to the Mandrill’s actual targets. One last reminder that, though Foolkiller’s awkward moniker may put off some readers, it’s based on the figure from 19th Century American folklore.  Continue reading →

REVOLUTIONARY WAR FAQ

Fife and drum picThe Fourth of July is rapidly approaching! Some people get puzzled about the actual Thirteen Original Colonies of America. They know for instance that Daniel Morgan’s Kentucky Rifles were one of the most storied units of the war and saw action from Canada to the American South. Yet, Kentucky is not listed as one of the original colonies.

Similarly they know that Ethan Allen and his Green Mountain Boys were a Vermont unit and that Chillicothe in Ohio was the site of the REAL last battle of the war, yet neither Vermont nor Ohio were original colonies, either. The reason for all that is this: Continue reading →

HILLARY: I GET TO MOVE ON, BUT YOU PEASANTS ARE ETERNALLY GUILTY OVER SLAVERY

hillary yelling

I can put whatever I want behind me! But YOU DAMN PEASANTS can’t! I miss the days when you citizens knew your place and didn’t talk back to your betters!

Every revelation that comes out about Benghazi makes it clear that Hillary “Bugsy” Clinton and Barack “Tony Ears” Obama lied about a video causing the 2012 Benghazi attack just to spare Barack looking like a jackass over his ludicrous claims that Al Qaeda was “on the ropes.”

Despite all that, Hillary tries to pretend it’s all nothing and that she can just “move on” now. I guess she feels that anyone stupid enough to believe ANYTHING she and/or Barack say isn’t worth caring about. So the Four Dead in Benghazi are to be thrown down the Memory Hole but the Four Dead in Ohio are to be rehashed forever.

A nonexistent reporter asked Hillary if the untold millions of working class white Americans who had absolutely NOTHING to do with the slave trade that her Democratic Party championed can finally “Move On” from it she replied “NEVER! I am one of the Ruling Class! WE are allowed to “move on” from our many, many scandals, crimes and misdeeds, but YOU PEASANTS are to be browbeaten into political submission over things you had nothing to do with FOREVER!”

When that same reporter followed up by pointing out that that didn’t sound at all like that “fairness” that the Democrats forever claim to be about the bloated rich pig replied “That’s different. It’s politically useful for the Party to continue pushing the ridiculous notions of White Privilege and Collective Guilt.”
