FREDDIE GRAY LIES: IT TURNS OUT THREE OF THE COPS INVOLVED WERE BLACK

White racist conspiracy? No. Police misconduct? Probably.

White racist conspiracy? No. Police misconduct? Probably.

Once again the American media was selling a story about alleged (yawn) racism that turns out to be false once the actual facts come out. Just as it was proven that Mike Brown did NOT have his hands up and that Trayvon Martin was a thug with multiple violations to his name we now find out that the supposedly “racist” Baltimore cops involved in the Freddie Gray situation included THREE BLACK COPS.

This is clearly another case of police misconduct, but NOT a “racist conspiracy” like the mindless Baltimore rioters were claiming. As everyone around the world has noticed by now the American media is not to be trusted. They prefer to hype, distort and outrightly lie about the stories they cover.  Continue reading →

ULTRON AND THE BRIDE OF ULTRON

The August 1977 cover of the story The Bride of Ultron.

The August 1977 cover of the story The Bride of Ultron.

Reaction has been outstanding to the vintage Ultron covers I’ve been posting in honor of the release of the movie Avengers: Age of Ultron. Here’s another one – this one from the multi-part Bride of Ultron storyline when Ultron created his android bride Jocasta and was attempting to transfer the persona of Janet Van Dyne – the Wasp – into it.

And yes, that’s Jocasta as in Oedipus. Ultron was created by Hank Pym in the comic books NOT by Tony Stark, as they’re depicting in the movie. Ultron often sarcastically addressed Pym, his creator, as “father”. Hank Pym’s unstable personality (Hey, the guy was Ant-Man, Giant-Man, Goliath and Yellow Jacket for crying out loud.) was the basis for Ultron’s programming and helped lead to Ultron going rogue.   Continue reading →

MALDOROR 2:13 – I SOUGHT A SOUL THAT MIGHT RESEMBLE MINE

Balladeer’s Blog resumes its examination of the macabre 1868 French language work The Songs of Maldoror.

I SOUGHT A SOUL THAT MIGHT RESEMBLE MINE

SharkI’m not bothering with a detailed look at Maldoror 2:12 because it was a fairly run of the mill (for Ducasse) look at the hopelessly groveling nature of prayers to a deity. He has just one point to make – that prayers are basically butt-kissing disguised as devotion – and makes it over and over again.

I’ll pick up with Maldoror 2:13, which – for cross-referencing purposes – I’m titling I Sought a Soul That Might Resemble Mine. This stanza begins with our supernatural main character lamenting his lonely uniqueness and longing to find someone like himself.  Continue reading →

ULTRON VS THE AVENGERS, FANTASTIC FOUR AND THE INHUMANS

From September 1974 comes this cover featuring Ultron attacking the Avengers, Fantastic Four and the Inhumans.

From September 1974 comes this cover featuring Ultron attacking the Avengers, Fantastic Four and the Inhumans.

With Avengers: Age of Ultron out in theaters fans got a huge kick out of my previous look at a vintage Ultron cover. This new one was the concluding part of an Avengers/ Fantastic Four crossover from back in the days before such crossovers were a constant thing.

Plus, since it’s no secret at this point that the Avenger Quicksilver gets killed in the movie it seemed appropriate to highlight Ultron crashing Quicksilver’s wedding to the Inhuman and former Fantastic Four member Crystal. All this plus Franklin Richards was used as a deus ex machina for the first time ever in this tale! Continue reading →

The Spires tied the game at 1-1 in the bottom of the 6th Inning and neither team scored again until the top of the 12th when Bethany College added 2 more runs. ROOTS 3: THE BEN AFFLECK STORY

"I come from a long line of slave-owning scumbags."

“I come from a long line of slave-owning scumbags.”

Ben Affleck, best known for being a cowardly apologist for and enabler of Muslim homophobia and misogyny, is at the center of a new controversy because of his heavy-handed attempts to get his family’s history of slave-owning censored from a PBS documentary. Meanwhile, another film has been released about Affleck’s slave-owning family.

In the new movie titled Roots 3: The Ben Affleck Story, Affleck was quoted as saying “I learn a few lines for movies and that makes me above you commoners. My role in life is giving finger-wagging lectures to the peons. I should be above the humiliation of being exposed as the scion of a repulsive family of slave-owners. That’s off the record, by the way.” Continue reading →

AVENGERS VS ULTRON

An August 1969 Avengers cover featuring one of the team's earliest battles with Ultron.

An August 1969 Avengers cover featuring one of the team’s earliest battles with Ultron.

With Avengers: Age of Ultron out in theaters it seemed a good time to take a break from a very ugly world with some escapism. Thor, Iron Man and the Vision are the only Avengers from this cover that will appear in the movie, but if you want to get technical the blonde giant is Hawkeye from the period in which he abandoned his bow and arrows and had replaced Hank Pym as Goliath.

This was waaaay back when Ultron was still numbering his iterations and this time he went by Ultron 6. It was the first time he used adamantium for his android body. Continue reading →

BEAUTIFUL CASEY JAMES HOSTS ANOTHER LOOK AT BAD MOVIES

Balladeer’s Blog’s Official Movie Hostess, the sexy Casey James.

Special thanks once again to Balladeer’s Blog’s Official Movie Hostess, the extraordinarily lovely Casey James. Casey took some time away from stealing the hearts of men and women around the world to host another look at bad films from my archives.

Death Bed

Death Bed

DEATH BED (1977) – My review of this rediscovered lost movie from the 1970’s was one of my most popular posts back in 2010. Death Bed features a water-bed that is alive and has digestive juices inside it instead of merely water. The supernatural bed, spawned by the bloody tears of a demon, devours everyone who lies on it.

No it’s not a joke, it’s a real horror film with one of my favorite weirdass premises. The body count is extremely high as the title menace feeds on literally dozens of victims through the course of the movie. Absurd, bloody and with a narrator who is trapped in a wall near the bed. (Don’t ask.) FOR MY FULL LENGTH REVIEW CLICK HERE:    https://glitternight.com/2011/02/04/a-bed-that-eats-people-who-sleep-in-it-its-death-bed-from-1977/ Continue reading →
