JUNETEENTH: THE DAY DEMOCRATS LOST THEIR SLAVES
Independent Voter site Balladeer’s Blog wishes you a happy Juneteenth, commemorating the day Democrats lost their slaves. African-Americans continue fighting for their freedom from the Democrats, who today treat people of color like they still own them and that they MUST vote for Democrats and ONLY Democrats. Democrat Joe Biden, embodying the grotesque hypocrisy of that detestable political party, EULOGIZED A KLANSMAN – DEMOCRAT SENATOR ROBERT BYRD – yet Biden thinks he’s fit to give finger-wagging lectures to the rest of us.
And y’know what? I’ve managed to go my whole life without ever knowing a Klansman let alone praising them after their death. But a piece of garbage like Joe Biden – whose racial slurs and other incidents of racist behavior are legion – presumes to elevate himself above the nation at large as if he’s some sort of High Priest of Racial Awareness. I’m neither a Democrat nor a Republican, so I’m not being partisan when I point out that Joe Biden is the herpes sore on the Body Politic.

In further commemoration of Juneteenth here’s some more reminders about Democrats: the party of slavery, Dred Scott, the Ku Klux Klan, Jim Crow and so much more. None of us choose the skin color we were born with or what country we were born in but we can certainly choose what political party we are or are not associated with. Do you still choose to belong to the party of the Democrats after all their crimes against humanity? #WALKAWAY and become an Independent Voter .
The hypocritical Democrats love to COMMIT the atrocities that they then go on to blame THE REST OF US FOR! THE FRENCH FOREIGN LEGION IN THE SECOND MADAGASCAR CONFLICT
Previously Balladeer’s Blog has examined Garrison Tales From Tonquin (Tonkin), the 1895 collection of short stories by James O’Neill, an American who served in the French Foreign Legion in Algeria and Vietnam during the 1880s and 1890s. I’ve also covered the Legion at Camerone and during the Great Syrian Revolt of the 1920s.
SECOND MADAGASCAR AFFAIR – This time around I’ll take a look at the French Foreign Legion during the 2nd Madagascar Conflict/ Expedition. The fighting went on from December 11th of 1894 to September 30th of 1895. This entire affair was so mishandled by French politicians in Reunion, by the War Minister and by General Jacques Duchesne that they basically killed thousands more of their own troops than were killed by the opposing forces.
TAKING IT FROM THE TOP – Typically for my French Foreign Legion posts, I’m not on their side in the war that the French government sent them to fight. It was the usual colonial nonsense, in this case exploiting unrest in the targeted country to use as an excuse for intervening and making Madagascar a French Protectorate. Regular readers know I don’t write sentiments like that to please politically correct fools, it’s just how I sincerely feel. If I felt any other way I wouldn’t hesitate to say so.
DECEMBER 1894 – On December 11th France declared war on Madagascar after its rulers refused to willingly become a French Protectorate. Though the French Army would be running this military campaign, the French Navy and their Marines kicked off the action by bombarding and then seizing Toamasina/ Tamatave on the eastern coast of Madagascar.
Though that location would have been ideal for a fairly quick march on the capital city of Tananarive/ Antananarivo, the French Army had beat out the French Navy for control of this war by UNDERCUTTING THEIR BID. (!) To stay within the lower costs the War Ministry had allocated, the army’s General Duchesne instead insisted on starting their campaign at Majunga/ Mahajanga on the northwestern coast of Madagascar, nearly doubling the amount of territory to be fought through.
JANUARY 1895 – In a relative feeling of “Team Spirit” the French Navy cooperated by now taking the area designated by the army for their landing site. On January 15th Majunga/ Mahajanga was bombarded and seized, fortress and all. Soon, however, the cosmic unsuitability of this location became apparent. Continue reading

HAPPY BLOOM’S DAY 2021!
Yes, it’s the 16th of June, better known to James Joyce geeks like me as Bloom’s Day. The day is named in honor of Leopold Bloom, the Jewish advertising sales rep and Freemason who is one of the major characters in Joyce’s novel Ulysses. The novel also brings along Stephen Dedalus, the protagonist of his earlier novel Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man.
For those unfamiliar with this work, Ulysses is Joyce’s stream-of-consciousness novel in which he metaphorically features the events from the Odyssey in a single day – June 16th, 1904, in Dublin. (The day he met Nora Barnacle, the woman he would eventually marry after living together for decades)
Bloom represents Ulysses/Odysseus, Stephen represents Telemachus and Leopold’s wife, Molly Bloom, represents Penelope. Continue reading

REVOLUTIONARY WAR: PRIVATEER ACTIONS IN SEPTEMBER OF 1778
With the Fourth of July holiday rapidly approaching here is another seasonal post. Previously, Balladeer’s Blog has looked at the swashbuckling actions of some American privateers from the Revolutionary War. This time here’s a look at one of the most successful months for our privateers – September of 1778.
SEPTEMBER 1st-5th – The American privateer ship the Active seized multiple prizes and took aboard several British Prisoners of War. Unfortunately, the Captain of the Active had stretched his crew too thin. The captive Brits gleaned the vulnerable position of their captors and rose up to seize control of the ship and were determined to link up with the first British vessel they could find to help take in the seized U.S. ship and consummate their freedom.
SEPTEMBER 6th – The 10-cannon brig the Gerard, an American privateer, under Pennsylvania’s J. Josiah, came upon the seized Active and, after a long chase, compelled the ship to surrender. Captain Josiah and his men learned they had just saved the American privateer crew and had recaptured the British POWs. The Gerard escorted the Active back to its Philadelphia port in case the POWs grew frisky again.
SEPTEMBER 17th – The 18-cannon privateer ship Vengeance, under one Captain Newman of Massachusetts, chased the British packet ship Harriet (16 cannon) for at least 6 hours before engaging it in battle. The Americans won and the Harriet surrendered. Continue reading

ESTABLISHMENT FEAR OF POPULISM
It’s become impossible to ignore the way that the corrupt establishment and their corporate media outlets fear populism and obsessively try to demonize it. In a way it’s a replay of the late 1800s when the labor movement was striking and demanding better pay and working conditions. The establishment responded with ugly demonization of working class people’s efforts to survive as something more than peasants.
America’s President Grover Cleveland even went so far as to describe labor activist Eugene Debs as “an enemy of the human race.” That is certainly reminiscent of the over the top rhetoric used today by the Powers That Be to instill the public with feelings of fear and hostility toward popular movements that threaten their privileges.
It’s important to remember that Eugene Debs called himself a socialist back when socialism was largely about fighting the entrenched Big Money interests on behalf of the suffering poor and the working class, not the pseudo-religion it is today, when socialism is all about dictating every aspect of our lives. Debs was demonized by the establishment from around the 1890s through the 1920s, even arrested and left to languish in prison merely for protesting America’s involvement in the First World War of 1914-1918. ANTHONY FAUCI: THE BANALITY OF WEASELS
Anthony Fauci certainly seems to be more interested in self-promotion than in doing his job. It’s easy to forget that this is the same Anthony Fauci who was part of a very inept effort to combat AIDS decades ago, only to see any real progress coming from figures working OUTSIDE of the Fauci Fiefdom. Why were some people foolish enough to listen to this attention whore who jumped on bandwagons and contradicted himself almost daily depending on which way the political winds were blowing? And all the while the body count was rising … How do you spell “malpractice” by the way?
As if Fauci wasn’t already a prime example of bureaucratic dysfunction granted far too much influence, he has sunk even lower by resorting to the NEW last resort of a scoundrel – claiming that investigating his scandals is an attack on “science.” Ah, the old “Science? C’est moi!” defense.
With sites pulling “Faux Fauci’s” self-aggrandizing new book and with the weaselly, wormy little man refusing to take questions during a public appearance at a vaccination site recently, Doctor Death more and more reminds me of the hilariously sleazy, disingenuous and dissembling character Martin Short played long ago: the slimy fraudster inevitably whining “Did I say anything? I didn’t say anything. Did you hear me say anything?”

First up is this entertaining cartoon about the bizarrely inaccurate, biased and uninformed buffoons who pretend to be “fact checkers” for the Big Tech fascists of social media.
“Thought Police” or “Political Censors” or “Conformity Enforcers” might be better job descriptions for those clueless ideologues who have deluded themselves into thinking they possess “the one true worldview.”
THE UNITED STATES IS BEHIND THE REST OF THE WORLD WHEN IT COMES TO USING VOTER I.D. – We need Third Parties here in the U.S. but we also need Voter I.D. laws. The rest of the world is very progressive in their use of such I.D. requirements but here in America such laws are always opposed by Democrats, who thrive on vote fraud of all kinds (see the past 11 years of my blog posts for those news items). One of my favorite incidents regarding how behind the rest of the world America is on Voter I.D. happened in 2012, when Democrats welcomed in an assortment of U.N. officials to oversee our election and those U.N. figures foiled the Democrats’ frantic, paranoid expectations by pointing out how careless and negligent our country is regarding voting i.d’s, which are REQUIRED in most civilized nations.
