MERINA MYTHS: RATOVOANA

RATOVOANA – This demi-god was the son of a deity and a Vazimba, Madagascar’s version of elves or Menehune. Ratovoana was born through the procedure known in the west as a Caesarean Section instead of the usual birth through the vaginal pathway. Such births were regarded with a certain supersitious awe in the ancient world and the children thus born were considered to be destined for great things.

In the myths of the Merina and other people of Madagascar such births were viewed as meaning that the figure thus born was “self-created” or “self-delivered”. These “self-created” beings are genuine rebels who often defy the supreme deity and therefore occupy a special place in the pantheons of Madagascar and I’ll deal with other such figures in the future. MALDOROR 4:3 – THE TORMENTED MAN

Balladeer’s Blog resumes its examination of the macabre 1868 French language work The Songs of Maldoror. It’s back to more explicitly horrific material this time around.

THE TORMENTED MAN

After the previous topsy-turvy stanza saw Maldoror lost in The Valley of Unreality this adventure is much more straightforward.

The supernatural being Maldoror is wandering through a forest when he is attracted by the sound of agonized screams. Locating their source he is intrigued to see a man hanged from a gibbet by his very long hair and with his hands tied behind his back. His legs swing freely, increasing the agony of his pain-wracked form.

The man’s emaciated form showed he had not been fed in days and his face was so stretched from long suspension by his hair that it had lost nearly all human shape.

The tormented man screams that, due to all manner of tortuous pain, he has not been able to sleep during the three days he has been hanging there. He also begs Maldoror to slit his throat and put him out of his misery.

From hiding Maldoror observes two crazed, drunken women approach the spot where the man hangs. One of the women is very old with her uncombed hair fluttering in the breeze. The other woman is much younger but so thin her knees knock together as she walks. The ladies carry whips, paint-brushes and buckets of hot tar with them. Continue reading →

SABRINA ERDELY REPORTS: BRUCE JENNER RAPED CAITLYN JENNER

Disgraced “journalist” (LMAO) Sabrina Rubin Erdely

Once again disgraced journalist and notorious UVA Rape Hoaxer Sabrina Erdely plus her crack investigative team of Haven Monahan and a woman called “Jackie” have broken a shocking story. Erdely reports that former Olympic Athlete Bruce Jenner has raped a woman named Caitlyn Jenner.

Erdely, who has a reputation for disregarding (or not even looking for) any facts that conflict with the narrative she’s pushing said her story came when she saw how much the names “Bruce Jenner” and “Caitlyn Jenner” were trending on social media.

Sabrina stated:

“The only possible reason could be that Bruce, who is a man and therefore a rapist-in- waiting, MUST have raped whoever this Caitlyn Jenner is. Anyone who doubts this is denying that rape ever happens and they are subjecting this brave victim Caitlyn Jenner to a SECOND rape on social media.” Continue reading →

MALDOROR 4:2 – THE MARRIAGE OF PROVERBS AND METAPHORS

THE MARRIAGE OF PROVERBS AND METAPHORS

Maldoror’s excursion into madness this time around put me in mind of William Blake’s Marriage of Heaven and Hell, hence the title I assigned to this 2nd stanza of the 4th Canto. Some critics contend that this section is set near Dendera in Egypt, where Maldoror’s wanderings had taken him in the previous stanza.

The author Isidore Ducasse pulls us into a bizarre realm of unreality – or maybe hyper-reality – with his vile main character. The Tower of Proverbs and the Tower of Metaphors catch Maldoror’s attention as he negotiates his way through an other-worldly valley in which literal reality blends with symbolic reality. At times in this section Ducasse comes close to anticipating the Stream of Consciousness writing pioneered by John Dos Passos and refined by James Joyce. Continue reading →

THE MAN WHO SAW TOMORROW (1981) ON THE TEXAS 27 FILM VAULT

Before MST3K there was … The Texas 27 Film Vault! In the middle 1980s, way down on Level 31 Randy Clower and Richard Malmos, machine-gun toting Film Vault Technicians First Class hosted this neglected cult show. Balladeer’s Blog continues its celebration of the program’s 30th anniversary year.

ORIGINAL BROADCAST DATE: Saturday November 9th, 1985 from 10:30pm to 1:00am.

SERIAL: None. This time around the pre-movie offering was the 1953 short titled Nostradamus Says So.

HOST SEGMENTS: At one point Randy and Richard read aloud some ridiculously bizarre predictions made in tabloids by “psychics” of the time period.

THE MOVIE: The Man Who Saw Tomorrow was a hilariously melodramatic and irrational documentary playing along with the silly notion that the 16th Century “seer” Nostradamus’ vague and noncommital quatrains predicted major future events. Orson Welles, in his “anything for money” phase, narrated the film.

This movie was up there with the campy UFO and Bigfoot documentaries of the 1970s and 1980s. Welles, who has to hurriedly pluck his cigar from his mouth at one point so that he can be understood, seems on the verge of laughter most of the time. As usual in anything about Nostradamus meanings are forced into his centuries-old poems that make them seem like he was a “prophet” who foresaw the rise of Napoleon, World War Two, the John F Kennedy assassination and just about anything else that true-believers want to read into the man’s vague scribblings. MUSLIM “SCIENCE” VS WOMEN WHO WEAR JEANS

More irrational nonsense from Islam the religion that, for centuries, has retarded the social progress of the rest of the world. Islam showed once again that it leads the world in misogyny and irrationality. Muslim “scholar” Maulana Fazlur Rehman announced that women wearing jeans is such an affront in the eyes of Allah (LMFAO) that those women are to blame for recent earthquakes.

He went on to praise the fanatics of the Taliban and further stated that women who wear jeans are responsible for “economic crises” and are “the REAL enemies of Pakistan.” On a roll by that point Rehman went Full Muslim Moron by requesting that force be used to stop women – the favorite victims of Islam – from wearing jeans. And talking on cell-phones. (Pssst! He doesn’t think they should vote either. That’s probably what causes forest fires.)

And remember, gutless hypocrites around the world encourage the perpetuation of these views by insisting Muslim superstitions should be above criticism and that any challenge of their centuries-old worldview is “hate speech.” Muslims killing people they disagree with is fine to those same hypocrites, though.
