THE VIOLET FLAME (1899) ANCIENT SCIENCE FICTION

the violet flameTHE VIOLET FLAME (1899) – Here is another of the science fiction works written by THE Frederick Thomas Jane, of Jane’s Guides fame. Previously, Balladeer’s Blog reviewed Jane’s works The Incubated Girl and Guesses at Futurity.

This tale is set in the near future. A megalomaniacal scientist named Mirzabeau has devised a theory stating that the Earth and, indeed, our entire solar system, is alive.

To demonstrate the truth of his theory, Professor Mirzabeau uses his devices to manipulate the Earth itself. He causes global disasters and reduces mountains and buildings to near nothingness, leaving behind a miniature argon replica of each destroyed object.

With the world trembling before his power, Mirzabeau demands that all nations cede their sovereignty to him. He is acknowledged as the ruler of the world with the title the Beast. Continue reading

THE VILLON LEGEND: SEVENTH AND FINAL PART

This is the final part of Balladeer’s Blog’s look at the swashbuckling legends that surround Francois Villon (1431-1463?), remembered as one of France’s greatest poets and a notorious outlaw.

villon in swordfightFRANCOIS VILLON PART SEVEN – We pick up this time in 1460, as Villon’s roaming career as a highwayman and armed burglar among the Coquillards was fast approaching its end, though the poet seems not to have realized it. None of his poetry from 1458 and 1459 has survived, unfortunately.

Accounts vary wildly, but Francois and some of his outlaw colleagues had supposedly been taking advantage of the feud between Archbishop Thibaud d’Aussigny of Orleans and his subordinate clergy members. Prior to Villon’s fugitive status, the Archbishop might have been a figure who appealed to him. D’Aussigny was a genuine reformer whose appointment was opposed by the Pope and the King, but whose political allies had maneuvered him into position despite all that. Continue reading

NEWS, MEMES AND POLITICAL CARTOON ROUNDUP: MAY SEVENTH

Another current events roundup by Independent Voter site Balladeer’s Blog.

jack smith picPARTISAN HACK JACK SMITH ADMITS TO HIS TEAM MISLEADING THE JUDGE IN HIS TRUMP CASE WHILE TRYING TO RAILROAD THE OPPOSITION LEADER. Smith, looking nothing at all like a creepy child molester, continues his farcical prosecution. More about Jack’s career of sleaze HERE.

DEMOCRAT CONGRESSMAN HENRY CUELLAR AND HIS WIFE INDICTED ON BRIBERY AND MONEY LAUNDERING CHARGES. More HERE.

NEW YORK FIREFIGHTERS GLEEFULLY WELCOME POPULIST AND DE FACTO THIRD PARTY PRESIDENT DONALD TRUMP TO THEIR STATION WHILE SHOUTING “Sir, save us please!” and “You gotta win!” Cheers met Trump signing the fire station’s daybook, too.

ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT RELEASED INTO THE COUNTRY BY JOE BIDEN’S REGIME HAS NOW BEEN ARRESTED AND CHARGED FOR KIDNAPPING AND SEXUALLY VIOLATING AN ELEVEN-YEAR-OLD GIRL. Another crime on Biden’s head. Democrats, can you and your illegal immigrant heroes please leave children alone?

robert deniro is patheticDEMENTED FORMER ACTOR ROBERT DENIRO COMPARES TRUMP TO (YAWN) HITLER, AS ALL IMBECILES TEND TO DO. The pathetic Deniro, who plays violent social misfits and predatory criminals in films (Maybe he’s just been “acting naturally?”) was smacked down and put in his place on social media with this reply post:

Well, Trump was actually already president for 4 years and his policies bore no resemblance to those of Hitler, so this makes no sense.

“In fact, with the Abraham Accords, he made some progress towards peace in the Middle East, which was definitely not high on Hitler’s agenda.”

deniro lawsuit picI will add my own note to anti-Trump psychopaths like this – Try reading a little bit of history and/or stop trying to self-aggrandize by pretending that your irrational and unhinged remarks about Trump are somehow equal to fighting Hitler. Deniro would likely be fearfully hiding from the real Hitler or helping him round up victims. Gutless phony. Deniro forgets that he lives in a pathetic world of make-believe, and his lips would be trembling and his eyes welling up with tears in any REAL LIFE conflict.

AND ANOTHER HATEMONGERING HOLLYWOOD DEMAGOGUE ALSO MINDLESSLY AND GROUNDLESSLY COMPARES TRUMP TO HITLER. Pathetic. Anyone who seriously thinks that any American president has ever been equivalent to Hitler should seek professional help. Continue reading

EXPERIMENTAL POST

question markIt’s been years since Balladeer’s Blog tried a post like this. I’ve had a few people saying I should weigh in on a certain situation but I’ve been maintaining that said situation is way too “Inside Baseball” for most people to care. Hell, I’m barely interested in it myself.

Here are some jokes without context and with no tags or other indicators. Let’s see if anybody even knows what these jokes are referring to. If you hate this whole idea and don’t want me to do it ever again, that’s fine, too. My point is that these people are so unknown that there’s no point in my commenting on it.

“I have no idea which of Gary’s former cellmates he fantasizes about when he has to lie next to that. The Miss Piggy comparison was being too kind.”

“When you’re in the mood for some cheap laughs, watch Gary struggle to read something out loud.” Continue reading

AUGUST 2021: LOOKING BACK

FOR PART ONE (2016) OF THIS RETROSPECTIVE FROM INDEPENDENT VOTER SITE BALLADEER’S BLOG CLICK HERE

british parliament holds biden in contemptBRITISH PARLIAMENT OFFICIALLY HOLDS JOE BIDEN IN CONTEMPT. Hey, those fools wanted Biden. They got him. MORE HERE.

JOE BIDEN GETS DESERVEDLY SLAMMED BY SURVIVORS OF THE DEAD FROM HIS AFGHANISTAN DEBACLE. The unfit Biden gets slammed from all directions and deservedly so. Parents of his victims made remarks like “You killed my son! This never would have happened under Trump.” and “You are no leader of any kind! You are a weak human being and a traitor!” and “We didn’t want him anywhere near us!”

Another called Biden “a feckless, dementia-ridden piece of crap“.

media biasBIG TECH OLIGARCHS CENSORED ACCOUNTS OF FAMILIES OF THOSE SERVICE MEMBER DEATHS CAUSED BY JOE BIDEN IF THEY CRITICIZED HIM. Joe Biden is a clump of bacteria sculpted into human form.

DEMOCRATS IN COLORADO WORK TO BLOCK ELECTION AUDITS FOR ANY FUTURE ELECTIONS FROM THIS POINT ON. Notice how it’s only ever Democrats who oppose measures to block and/or investigate Vote Fraud? Hmmmm. That says it all.

BRITISH NEWS OUTLET CALLS OUT AMERICAN MEDIA’S COMPLICITY IN BIDEN’S DISASTERS. And I point out that British media outlets are just as guilty.

BIDEN ATROCITIES CONTINUE TO ACCUMULATE Continue reading

GUESSES AT FUTURITY (1894-1895) ANCIENT SCIENCE FICTION

the firstGUESSES AT FUTURITY – This was a series of nine full-page illustrations by THE Frederick Thomas Jane, the man behind the Jane’s manuals. He devoted as much attention to detail here as he would go on to do in illustrations of military hardware in later years.

The series ran in Pall Mall Magazine from October of 1894 to June of 1895 and presented a speculative look at life in the year 2000 A.D.

home lifeI. HOME LIFE IN ANNO DOMINI 2000 (October 1894) – Jane depicted Brits of the “future” living in homes with very high ceilings. The interior decoration is decidedly eclectic while the wardrobe of these Brits is a kind of retro revival of Medieval clothing.

The people watch a large picture screen on which images appear. Those images depict people garbed like Jane’s contemporaries in 1890s England. Phonograph horns provide the sound for this Entertainment Center of the Year 2000. A wheel of sorts in the wall seems to bring up menus of options, possibly for controlling the sound and the images (channels?) on the screen. Continue reading

MAY 2nd ROUNDUP OF NEWS, MEMES AND POLITICAL CARTOONS

corrupt dojFrom the execrable Joe Biden’s corporate fascist kleptocracy comes another current events roundup by Independent Voter site Balladeer’s Blog.

biden the fascistBIDEN ALLIES GOING AFTER TRUMP NOW DICTATING WHAT HIS OWN CAMPAIGN SITE CAN SAY. The political persecution continues in New York City. An expression stronger than “Banana Republic” is needed for this blatant persecution of the opposition leader.

JOE BIDEN AGAIN VIOLATES THE SUPREME COURT DECISION STATING HE DOES NOT HAVE THE AUTHORITY TO DECREE THAT DEMOCRAT STUDENTS DON’T HAVE TO REPAY THEIR STUDENT LOANS – WIPES OUT ANOTHER SIX BILLION DOLLARS IN OUTSTANDING LOANS. So, taxpayers who already paid off their own student loans still have to pay off the student loans of Democrat students.

tulsi gabbard heroicTULSI GABBARD AGAIN SPEAKS FOR SO MANY OF US FORMER DEMOCRATS – “IT’S TIME TO LEAVE THE DEMOCRAT PARTY BEHIND“. The people who still call themselves Democrats now are intolerant and hatemongering fascists.

DEMOCRATS LAUNCH EFFORT TO ELIMINATE THE MANDATORY REPORTING OF SUSPECTED CHILD ABUSE. Hey, Democrats have to try covering up their frequently-reported molestation and sexual assault of children somehow. Democrats, can you please leave children alone?

biden criminal enterpriseBIDEN REGIME DOJ OFFICIAL ADMITS TO LYING UNDER OATH. More HERE. If she was a member of the opposition party this would carry serious consequences, but the Biden Regime displays its illegitimacy every day.

LOUISIANA SUPREME COURT PERMITS 100,000 CITIZENS TO SECEDE FROM DEMOCRAT-RUN BATON ROUGE AND FORM THEIR OWN NEW CITY. If more areas do this it could be the best way for voters to liberate themselves from crime-ridden Democrat hellholes and establish sane governments in their new cities. Continue reading
