GHOULIES (1985)

Ghoulies

GHOULIES (1985) – This was a product from Charles Band, so lovers of bad 1980s horror films know what they’re in for. Ghoulies also had the distinction of being the last movie ever shown on the Pre-MST3K cult show The Texas 27 Film Vault (Covered extensively here at Balladeer’s Blog).

Jack Nance from Eraserhead and Mariska Hargitay from Law and Order: SVU can both point to this flick as their most embarrassing moment on screen.

A Satanist played by rock singer Michael Des Barres leaves his mansion – which was the site of his Black Masses and human sacrifices – to a young couple played by Lisa Pelikan and Peter Liapis. They move into the creepy old place and the man starts to become possessed by the dark forces that linger in the mansion.

Eventually his dabbling in Satanic rituals causes his zombified father Malcolm (Des Barres) to climb out of his grave, which is conveniently located in the mansion’s backyard. Continue reading

NIGHTSHADE: ANOTHER FORGOTTEN SUPERHERO

Superhero-mania shows no signs of abating! Since Balladeer’s Blog’s recent look at the defunct Centaur Comics superheroes was such a hit I decided to post an entry on another of their neglected figures.

Nightshade splash pageNIGHTSHADE

Secret Identity: Howard Hall, scientist

Origin: Wealthy young scientist Howard Hall found both science and his life of luxury to be ultimately unfulfilling. Immersing himself in the secrets of Eastern Mysticism he discovered he had a real knack for one particular Dark Art: endowing his shadow with life, solidity and super-strength.

Calling himself Nightshade, Hall costumed himself in a white tuxedo and white hat with a pair of large sunglasses serving as a mask. He used his new abilities to fight crime and other forces of evil.

First Appearance: Amazing-Man Comics #24 (October, 1941). His final Golden Age appearance came in 1942.

MUSLIM ATROCITY ROUNDUP: APRIL 11th

Islam signs

Islam

Islam is the most misogynistic, homophobic and otherwise intolerant religion in the world at this particular time. And the way Islam insists on marrying religion to government AND insists that non-Muslims must live by Muslim rules makes it a fascist and totalitarian movement that needs to be opposed loudly and daily. Muslim Violence Awareness Year continues with this look at just a FEW of the most recent atrocities by Muslims.

April 9th: Alexandria and Tanta, Egypt – A pair of suicide bombers/ agents of the Islamic State (Obamastan), which was spawned by Barack Obama’s premature withdrawal from Iraq, attacked Coptic Christians and killed FORTY-FOUR innocent people and injured over A HUNDRED MORE.

March 31st: Parachinar, Pakistan – A Muslim fascist suicide bomber struck at a market, killing TWENTY-FOUR innocent people and injuring OVER NINETY MORE.

March 20th: Zaki Biam, Nigeria – Islamofascists attacked the village, killing AT LEAST TWENTY innocent people.

April 3rd: St Petersburg, Russia – A Muslim fascist bombed a subway train, killing FOURTEEN innocent people and injuring FORTY-NINE MORE.

March 25th: Sylhet, Bangladesh – Suicide bombers from Jamayetul Mujahideen, the local affiliate of the Global Muslim Fascist Murder Machine, attacked an apartment complex. Their attack killed 6 innocent people and injured OVER FIFTY MORE. I guess this was revenge for Bangladeshi “colonialism,” right, apologists for Islam?

March 30th: Wumyeduga, Nigeria – Boko Haram, the local affiliate of the Global Muslim Fascist Murder Machine, raided the town, killing TWELVE innocent people and injuring TWENTY-THREE MORE.   Continue reading

AIWEL LONGAR: THE AFROCENTRIC PASSOVER TALE

Balladeer’s Blog has been examining various dead and resurrected deities from around the world as well as various Apocryphal Gospels. Since this is the season for Passover as well as Easter here’s a look at the Aiwel Longar Epic, which features many parallels with the myth about Moses, Passover and the Ten Commandments.

Aiwel LongarThe mythic tale of Aiwel Longar comes from the Dinka pantheon. Nhialic is the supreme deity to the Dinka and the first man and woman he created were Garang and Abuk. The Dinka people live in the Upper Nile in Sudan, as they have for centuries.

AIWEL LONGAR

I often cover the way in which cultures which come into contact borrow mythic material from each other to embellish their own respective belief systems. The story of Aiwel Longar clearly influenced (and vice versa) Egyptian, Jewish, Christian and Muslim myths. It also bears striking similarities to the Gnostic Hymn of the Pearl.

PART ONE – Born as simply Aiwel, this figure was a gift from the god of the Nile River to Aiwel’s widowed and childless mother. The infant already had a full set of teeth when his mother picked him up out of the Nile River, where the river god had set him adrift.

Like many mythic figures Aiwel could talk and function like an adult at a very young age. While still a toddler he often stole and drank entire gourds full of milk. After one such binge Aiwel’s mother caught him and the young demigod warned her not to tell anyone or else she would die.  Continue reading

POLO: U.S. OPEN – DAY THREE RESULTS

International Polo ClubBalladeer’s Blog continues its coverage of the world’s OLDEST team sport. Polo had already been around for centuries when it was being played by Alexander the Great’s men.

FOR MY PRIMER ON POLO CLICK HERE

Orchard Hill Polo shirtGAME ONE: ORCHARD HILL VS AUDI – Starting off Day Three of Polo’s 114th U.S. Open was a Match between Defending Open Champions Orchard Hill – Official Balladeer’s Blog Nickname: The Clubmen – and Audi – Official Balladeer’s Blog Nickname: The Bavarians.

THE SUSAN RICE SCANDAL, GEORGE SOROS’ TAX BILL AND OTHER QUICK HITS

george-soros-aloneSOROS FOLLIES – George Soros, the one-percenter and bloated rich pig, owes roughly 6.7 BILLION DOLLARS IN DEFERRED TAXES according to Bloomberg.

No wonder George was trying to force Hillary Clinton into the White House – one hand washes the other, as always.

Soros, who is so old he has REAL ties to Nazis but because he owns much of the mass media he never gets called Hitler and rarely gets called out on his enormous tax bill.

Susan Rice unmasked scandalSUSAN “SPYGATE” RICE – Mike Cernovich, one of the few actual journalists in the United States, recently exposed – in Medium – Susan Rice’s role in the Obama Administration’s illegal spying scandal.

Evidence ties Rice – remembered as Obama’s “Designated Liar” on Benghazi, Bergdahl and countless other misdeeds – to spying on the Trump campaign, possibly to help the candidacy of Hillary Clinton.

Cernovich also exposed biased reporters who were sitting on the story, possibly to avoid embarrassing Barack Obama yet again. Among the reporters mentioned in Mike’s story were Maggie Haberman from Carlos Slim’s notoriously biased New York Times and Eli Lake. Last year Haberman was exposed as a reporter with a cozy, “friendly” relationship with Hillary Clinton’s doomed campaign.

Scott Adams and DilbertA BLOW FOR FREE SPEECH – Dilbert creator Scott Adams is among the alumni of the University of Cal-Berkeley, which has renounced its previous devotion to Free Speech and replaced it with riots and violence against guest speakers with whom the university’s Faculty Lounge Fascists disagree.

Cal-Berkeley is to the Left-Wing Archie Bunkers of the 1960s generation what Nuremberg was to the Nazis. (Elderly white American Liberals love to throw around Nazi comparisons so I couldn’t resist that comparison.)

Getting back to Scott Adams, after Cal-Berkeley’s fascistic treatment of guest speakers who are aware that it’s no longer the 1960s Adams informed his alma mater that he would no longer be making contributions to the university, citing their hostility to Freedom of Expression. This is the only message that those Capitalists who masquerade as Marxists will understand.

Obama Years cheapest lowest wormiestOBAMA SCANDALS – Given the way Obama partisans lie about his scandals the same way Nixon partisans lied about his it’s important to always remember how corrupt the Obama Administration was.

Feel free to look the following small collection of Obama scandals and misdeeds up at a site of your own choosing.

Here are just fourteen scandals from that weak, inept and crooked little man: Continue reading

GOSPEL OF THE SAVIOR: COMPARATIVE MYTHOLOGY

Jesus ResurrectedBalladeer’s Blog continues examining various accounts of dead and resurrected deities, as is customary at this time of year.

THE GOSPEL OF THE SAVIOR – The narrative of this gospel centers around dialogues between Jesus and his apostles in the last few days before his arrest and crucifixion.

Some of the material is similar to the Gospels of John and Matthew, but  some is Gnostic, with references to discarding the useless garment of the body so the soul can return to the empyrean realm.

The most striking departure in this gospel comes in the Garden of Gethsemane segment, when Jesus, as God the Son, traditionally prays to God the Father to spare him the ordeals that lay ahead. In The Gospel of the Savior Jesus transports himself and his apostles to the throne-room of God the Father  where he makes his appeal in person. Continue reading
