THE KNIGHTS (424 B.C.) ANCIENT GREEK COMEDY

Here’s a rerun of Balladeer’s Blog’s examination of the Ancient Greek Comedy called The Knights by Aristophanes. For background info on ancient Greek comedies see my original post on the topic: https://glitternight.com/2011/09/22/at-long-last-my-ancient-greek-comedy-posts-begin/

This comedy deals with the still-relevant situation in which honest people stand no chance against vile, corrupt demagogues.

OBAMA’S ACTIONS AGAIN RULED UNCONSTITUTIONAL

Not only did Barack Obama get horrible grades in college but he’s been a failure as president, too. Once again a federal court has ruled unconstitutional his overreach on executive orders. This time it was the Fifth Circuit Court slapping Obama and the subject was Little Barry’s unconstitutional amnesty to illegal aliens, who matter more to him than the suffering poor of the country.

Over two dozen times now this weak, inept and crooked little man has been put in his place by courts – which have had to step in because Congress has failed in its responsibilities over and over again.

Oh, and for Little Barry’s fans – unless you clueless fools (who tend to think we never landed on the moon and that the Mossad staged the 9-11 attacks) think you understand enough about the Separation of Powers (the lines along which the decision rested) to go head to head on it don’t even try your usual lame attempts at justifying Barry’s actions.

And don’t bother whining to me about not showing this piece of garbage any respect. I’ve never shown any other American president any respect and I’m not about to start with the worst one ever.  Continue reading →

MARIKAS (circa 421 B.C.): ANCIENT GREEK COMEDY

EupolisBalladeer’s Blog presents another look at an ancient Greek Comedy. This time around it’s one written by Eupolis who – along with Aristophanes and Cratinus – was one of the Big Three of Attic Old Comedy.

MARIKAS (c 421 B.C.) – This was the second comedy to emerge in the new subgenre of Attic Old Comedy called “the Demagogue Comedy”. Aristophanes led the way a few years earlier with The Knights, his comedy attacking the politician Cleon. The play Marikas finds Eupolis attacking the demagogue Hyperbolus, whose reputation for character assassination by way of overstatement lives on in our language by way of the word “hyperbole”.  

As with most ancient Greek comedies Marikas has survived only in fragmentary form. Those fragments, along with contemporary references in surviving works, provide what is known about the play. Marikas, the title character, was used by Eupolis to represent the politician Hyperbolus the same way Aristophanes had used the Paphlagonian to represent Cleon in The Knights. Continue reading →

SUPREME COURT SLAPS DOWN OBAMA ON NLRB; RULES HIS ACTIONS UNCONSTITUTIONAL

THIS WILL LIKELY BE THE LOOK ON OBAMA'S FACE WHEN HE HEARS ABOUT THIS DECISION ON THE NEWS TOMORROW>

THIS WILL LIKELY BE THE LOOK ON OBAMA’S FACE WHEN HE HEARS ABOUT THIS DECISION ON THE NEWS TOMORROW.

This UNANIMOUS (as in even the Liberals on the Supreme Court realized how far out of line Little Barry Obama was on this issue) decision reigning in ONE of the MANY abuses of this weak, inept and crooked little man came at a good time. The national mood out in the real world has been one that it might be time to imitate our British cousins from long ago and initiate Magna Carta TWO to make up for the way Congress has failed to provide a check on Obama’s abuses. This decision also rendered null and void ALL decisions made by Obama’s unconstitutional appointees! 

At least one of the branches of our government was able to rise above petty partisanship. In Congress the Democratic Party gangsters stood by their Godfather Barry and refused to act while the Republican Party gangsters in Congress are far too inept and out of touch to manage any sort of effective action. Further proof that the two-party system dilutes and corrupts the CONSTITUTIONAL checks and balances between the three branches of our government.

Welcome back to Balladeer’s Blog, as always coming to you from an America whose political system has been hijacked by two rival gangs of white collar criminals called Democrats and Republicans. My antipathy toward American Liberals and American Conservatives is well known so let’s all enjoy another critical look at these two groups. We’ll start with Liberals since they are more pompous and obnoxious at this particular point in history. 

American Liberals are hilariously pretentious asses and they spend their lives in a constant state of thinking everyone they know is “becoming conservative”. When their friends show independent thought American Liberals fall to pieces because they’re incapable of individuality. They’re also terrified of facing the REAL issues so they instead wage battles that were already won long ago. SOPTIC TANK: OBAMA SLITHERS EVEN LOWER THAN RICHARD NIXON EVER DID

There’s a reason his initials are B.O.

Obama has shown once again that he is determined to be remembered in one breath with sleazy presidents like Republicans Richard Nixon and Warren G Harding.

Regular readers of Balladeer’s Blog know that I am an Independent Voter who criticizes both Liberal fools and Conservative fools equally and that I show no respect for any presidents of either party. (If you don’t believe me read my President’s Day look at all the men who have stayed one step ahead of the law while holding that office. )
