The Marietta College Pioneers (logo at left) repeated as NCAA Division 3 World Series champions, as reported here at Balladeer’s Blog yesterday afternoon. The Pioneers did it with a flourish, too, casually dusting the St Thomas University Tommies, the only team that had beaten them so far in this year’s Series, by a score of 6-0. Then they pounded the Wheaton (MA) Lyons 7-2 proving that the Lyons (yes, with a “y”) taking them into extra innings a few days ago was just a fluke.
Today the World Series’ continue in the NAIA, D2 and NJCAA. The NAIA’s LSU- Shreveport Pilots (riverboat pilots) clash with the Tennessee Wesleyan Bulldogs for the right to face the Cinderella Rogers State University Hillcats, in tomorrow’s championship game.
