Queen Kitty
QUEEN KITTY – The Frontierado holiday is coming up on Friday, August 6th. As always, the holiday is about the myth of the old west, not the grinding reality. Balladeer’s Blog’s looks at the legends surrounding neglected gunslingers of the time period are popular posts at this time of year.
Kitty LeRoy was also known as Kitty the Schemer, Dancing Kitty, the Female Arsenal and much later as Deadwood Kitty. Queen Kitty is the most appropriate nickname in part because of her last name but mostly because she was variously known as “the Queen of the Hoofers”, “the Dancing Queen”, “the Queen of the Barbary Coast” and “the Queen of the Faro Tables”.
Kitty was born in 1850 and by the age of 10 was earning money for her family as a professional dancer and novelty act in her home state of Michigan. By 14 she was performing exclusively at adult venues and had added trick shooting to her repertoire. Her most famous shooting trick at this time was shooting apples off the heads of volunteers. At age 15 Queen Kitty was performing in New Orleans and married her first husband – the only man in the city brave enough to let Kitty shoot apples off his head while she was riding around him at a full gallop.

LeRoy loved flirting and sleeping around, however, and this led to the breakup of her first marriage within a year. By 1870 Queen Kitty had married a second time, to a man named Donnaly, with whom she had a daughter. The Queen had gravitated more and more to the Faro tables, making a killing as a celebrity dealer.
With Dallas as a home base Kitty and her husband would travel throughout Texas with LeRoy earning money dancing and dealing Faro. Kitty also earned a name for being able to handle any violence that came her way from sore losers and was involved in multiple gunfights and knife fights in dangerous saloons. Continue reading
DARKER THAN AMBER (1970) – Rod Taylor IS, for some reason, an Australian version of John D MacDonald’s detective Travis McGee. William “Big Bill” Smith plays the outrageously bleached-blonde villain Terry Bartlett and Theodore Bikel portrays McGee’s friend and idea man Meyer. McGee saves a woman (Suzy Kendall) from being forcibly drowned by her criminal associates only to see her get bumped off by them anyway.
Who’s afraid of Lego models of the U.S. Capitol building? Democrats are. Independent Voter site Balladeer’s Blog has watched the intolerant fascists called Democrats go from their absurd “Russian Collusion” nonsense to their even more absurd “Ukrainegate” gibberish to their utterly brainless “Insurrection” drivel about the protests at the Capitol. You remember the Capitol, where mobs of Democrat protestors have in the past barged into offices and even set off explosives in restrooms, yet which Democrats now pretend to revere for its “symbolism.” Maybe they need to tell their attack dogs/ fellow Democrats at the National Archives, who love to decide what aspects of the Capitol represent alleged White Supremacy each week.
Before becoming an Independent Voter I spent most of my life as a Democrat and believe me, Democrats despise the Capitol and its “symbolism” and regard people who DO revere it as patriotic hicks and rednecks. The protest at the Capitol earlier this year is being used as a political stick just like the “Kids in Cages” which Democrats treated like an atrocity under Trump but which they apparently support under Biden. “Silence is consent” Democrats tell us, and Biden has far more Kids in Cages than either Trump OR Obama had.
So, anyway, this “Insurrection” nonsense from the Democrats is as hypocritical as their Kids in Cages phoniness and as absurd as their Russian Collusion witch hunt. The Biden Regime has sunk to a new low recently with the way that they act like it’s sinister that a protestor owned a Lego model of the U.S. Capitol. YES, A LEGO MODEL OF THE U.S. CAPITOL! A LEGO MODEL WHICH CAN AND HAS BEEN PURCHASED ONLINE BY COUNTLESS PEOPLE!
BIETIGHEIM (1886) – Published anonymously in 1886 this work of alternate history accurately predicted some of the actual results and fallout of the coming First World War (1914-1918). Bietigheim is presented as a series of John Minor lectures about world history as seen from “futuristic” 1932.
From Mad King George III to our present-day corrupt, senile and thoroughly creepy Joe Biden, history has thrown a lot of unhinged and detestable worms at us.

Regular readers of Balladeer’s Blog know how interested I am in the various ARGs, Analog Horror projects and other forms of “Unfiction” that play out on the internet. Earlier this year I had fun looking back on completed projects like
KANG THE CONQUEROR, MANTIS AND THE CELESTIAL MADONNA SAGA – Plenty of Easter Eggs point to Kang’s imminent debut in Marvel movies and/ or tv shows, plus his true love Ravonna Renslayer has already debuted. Kang’s alias as Rama Tut even showed up in X-Men: Apocalypse.
ADAM WARLOCK, THANOS, GAMORA AND THE MAGUS – And speaking of Thanos, and with Adam Warlock having been hinted at since the first Guardians of the Galaxy movie, here’s another 1970s Young Adult Classic from Marvel. Adam took on his vile other self the Magus, his galaxy-spanning 1,000-world empire and Thanos in his first post-Thanos War appearance. Plus Gamora’s very first appearance. Click
KILLRAVEN – The heroic rebel leader and his Freemen take on Earth’s alien invaders on a war-torn post-apocalyptic world crawling with extraterrestrial tyrants and assorted mutated menaces. Click
Here at Balladeer’s Blog I’ve made multiple posts about the way that
