RAGNAR THE TERRIER: 18 DAYS TIL THE IDITAROD

ragnar2Ragnar here with a reminder that the Iditarod Race starts in 18 days. My Mom (Rosemary to many of you) is pretty much a Goodwill Ambassador for the event and always attracts all kinds of new eyes to the race.

There is even some shopping for souvenirs, bumper stickers, jewelry, clothing and Misc. to commerate this year’s race.

It’s President’s Day! For a different kind of President’s Day treat Balladeer’s Blog takes a look at a truly repulsive person who has managed to surpass the pompous, snobbish and callous Nancy Reagan to become America’s Worst First Lady Ever.

MICHELLE OBAMA – Bitter and hate-filled, this cosmically unlikeable figure has been stripped of her right to practice law just like her corrupt husband. Michelle is an overt racist whose loathing of everyone who is not an African-American is right out in the open for all to see.

Michelle is such a repulsive figure that when Barack was elected she was ill-mannered enough to say it was the first time she wasn’t ashamed of the country. Only a piece of absolute garbage would do this. It’s like being invited into someone’s house and telling them “This is the first time I’ve been in your house and it hasn’t stunk like an open sewer.”

Michelle Obama uglyMichelle Obama embodies the term “Redneck of Color” with her ignorance and her lack of social graces and we can all happily tell her she represents the first time we as a nation have had to be ashamed of our First Lady. Michelle, like Barack, is a beneficiary of Affirmative Action, which she admits in one of her anecdotes that she glories in telling, even though she gets it wrong.

She talks about how she was told her grades weren’t good enough to get into Princeton … yet she got in anyway because of minority set-asides established by those eeeevilll white people she hates so much. When Michelle tells this story she words it like it’s an “I showed them” story, as if it’s a personal triumph on her part.

Michelle Obama scowlUh, no, clueless little Michelle. It would be a personal triumph if the story concluded “… But I studied hard and raised my grades so that I got in ANYWAY!” It’s hilarious to see her tell this story repeatedly (it’s even on youtube) yet never realize what an asshole she comes off as. DEMOS-TYNDAREUS (410BC): ANCIENT GREEK COMEDY

classical greeceDEMOS-TYNDAREUS (410 BC) – Written by Polyzelus.

The Tyndareus part of this political comedy’s title refers to the mythical figure who came back from the dead like Lazarus in Christian beliefs. The Demos part is the embodiment of “the people” and comes from the same root word that “democracy” does. In this satire Demos represents the Athenian people just like he did in Aristophanes’ The Knights and in other comedies. Think of a figure like Uncle Sam representing Americans or John Bull representing the British or a person on their knees with their hands raised in surrender representing the French (rimshot). 

The title is referring to the resurrected democracy of Athens following the fall of the government imposed by the oligarchic coup of 411 BC – 410 BC. This restoration would later be followed by ANOTHER oligarchic coup six years later and another restoration of democracy, but of course none of this was known when Demos- Tyndareus was first performed. The scattered fragments reveal that the comedy dealt with an unknown figure orienting the resurrected Demos to the political climate of the newly- restored democracy. Continue reading →

President’s Day is almost here! Regular readers know how much I despise both Barack Obama (Liberal Democrat) and Ronald Reagan (Conservative Republican) and it’s largely for the same reasons. Consider the following:

Barack Obama is a lying demagogue who spouts nothing but mindless left-wing dogma that panders to the prejudices of his unquestioning Liberal worshippers.

Ronald Reagan was a lying demagogue who spouted nothing but mindless right-wing dogma that pandered to the prejudices of his unquestioning Conservative worshippers.

Barack Obama is supported by comfortable, callous and unfeeling creatures who refuse to acknowledge the genuine pain and suffering caused by his ill-considered policies. Continue reading →

Hawaii at Hilo VulcansHAWAII ONE-OH-ONE – The UNIVERSITY OF HAWAII AT HILO VULCANS trailed their guests – the CHAMINADE UNIVERSITY SILVERSWORDS – by a score of 45-36 at Halftime. After the break the Vulcans erupted for 65 points, winning this Instant Classic by a count of 101-99. Salim Gloyd led Hawaii- Hilo with a Double Double of 28 points and 14 rebounds.

It’s President’s Day Weekend! Three days of basketball and being reminded about how the Democratic and Republican Parties stick us with pieces of garbage like Barack Obama and George W Bush. Here are some pros and cons of the more recent presidents.

PELE AND HI’IAKA: EPIC OF HAWAII PART SEVEN

hiloBalladeer’s Blog continues its examination of the grand and exciting Hawaiian epic about the goddesses Pele and Hi’iaka.

PART SEVEN

Hi’iaka, the fern goddess Pa’u’o’pala’e and the mortal woman Wahine arrived near Hilo. A very rickety bridge across a broad chasm seemed the only available path over the Wailuka River far below. The bridge was erected and guarded by Piliamo’o and Nohoamo’o, two evil sorcerors who had so thoroughly mastered dark magic that they had achieved partial godhood.      

Regarded as actual deities by the locals, the sorcerors extorted valuables from the people who lived near Hilo and from anyone else attempting to cross their bridge. If anyone refused to pay the pair of sorcerors the price they demanded then the evildoers would cause one of the planks in the bridge to give way during crossing, plunging the victim to their death on the jagged rocks far below. SUPER PRESIDENT: FORGOTTEN TELEVISION

Since it’s President’s Day holiday time here’s a look at a long- neglected television series.

SUPER PRESIDENT was an actual cartoon series from the 1960’s that has virtually disappeared. It’s rare to catch a glimpse of this DePatie- Freleng show anywhere or even to find people who have heard of it outside of oddballs like me.

This cartoon was not intended for laughs, like it would be today. It honestly featured a superhero whose “secret identity” was being President of the United States. First off, there’s the absurd fun of the name AND the fact that calling yourself Super President instantly blows your cover anyway, unless you think people are dumb enough to not figure out what you’re the president OF. (The Teamsters Union? The National Egg Council?)  

President James Norcross was our title superhero and like the Fantastic Four a half-dozen years earlier got his powers from a cosmic ray storm. He had super-strength, could fly via small rockets on his belt and as the topper could transform himself into any substance – steel, granite, water, electricity and on more than one occassion – “ozone”. (Ozone?) Super President also had a nifty Omnicar that could drive, fly and serve as a submarine. The Omnicar was stashed in a secret room in the White House that served as SP’s version of the Batcave (How was this addition to the White House added without attracting attention and how much did it cost?). LIBERALS –

American Liberals have become incapable of appreciating art and literature. Instead they pompously and intolerantly dissect ancient works of visual and written art looking for nothing but (yawn) racism, sexism, white privilege, colonial narratives, “the male gaze” and all their other paranoid obsessions.

They have no appreciation for beauty in any form. American Liberals have no identity outside of their political opinions so when they ponder the magnificent creations of past geniuses they use it as an excuse to pat themselves on the back about how much more “enlightened” they consider themselves to be than the brilliant people who created those works.  

Jesus says libs and cons both suckIt’s a very empty way to view the past and it’s also pointless. It’s only natural that people living in different time periods separated by a few hundred or a few thousand years WILL HAVE VERY DIFFERENT NOTIONS OF RIGHT AND WRONG.

And y’know what, Liberal snobs? People centuries from now will look back on YOUR value system and condemn it for not being the same as theirs. Do you really care if – long after you’re dead – pompous jackasses just like you sit around, sip wine and repeatedly reassure each other that they are morally superior to you?
