COLLEGE WORLD SERIES RESULTS FROM MAY 28TH: NAIA, NJCAA, D2 AND D3

Lee FlamesYesterday the 2nd seeded LEE UNIVERSITY FLAMES scored 11 runs by the 6th inning of their game with the 9th seeded MISSOURI BAPTIST UNIVERSITY SPARTANS. The Spartans did not even get on the board until the 7th, and the final score in this elimination game was Flames 12  Spartans 2.   ###   Meanwhile the 7 seeds, the LEWIS-CLARK STATE WARRIORS stayed alive with another upset victory, this time over the 5th seeded MASTER’S MUSTANGS. COLLEGE WORLD SERIES RESULTS FROM MAY 27TH FOR THE NAIA, NJCAA, D2 AND D3

The 7th seeded LEWIS-CLARK STATE WARRIORS and the 4th seeded NORTHWOOD UNIVERSITY (TX) KNIGHTS were in a tight 5-4 contest headed into the 8th inning. The Warriors’ bats went into overdrive during the final 2 innings and provided a 9-5 elimination game victory to Lewis-Clark State.    ###    Meanwhile the 3 seeds, the EMBRY-RIDDLE AERONAUTICAL UNIVERSITY EAGLES, pulled off an upset of their own. ERAU turned a 3-1 6th inning lead by the 2nd seeded LEE UNIVERSITY FLAMES into a 5-4 triumph for themselves.    ###    College World Series 1st-timers, the 9th seeded MISSOURI BAPTIST UNIVERSITY SPARTANS, stayed alive by eliminating the 10th seeded ROGERS STATE UNIVERSITY HILLCATS in a 5-4 comeback win.    ###    And the top seeded FAULKNER EAGLES held off an 8th and 9th inning rally from the (til-then) scoreless MASTER’S MUSTANGS. COLLEGE WORLD SERIES RESULTS FROM THE NAIA, NJCAA PLUS D2 AND D3

Memorial Day means more than just remembering the fallen and having cookouts. It also means all the college championship baseball you can handle! What basketball is to March various College World Series’ are to Memorial Day weekend.

rogers state hillcatsOn Day 2 for this World Series the 10th seeded ROGERS STATE UNIVERSITY HILLCATS eliminated the 6th seeded YORK (NE) PANTHERS in a thrilling 4-1 upset. The score was tied at 1-1 in the bottom of the 6th when the Hillcats bats started adding runs.    ###    The 4 seeds, the NORTHWOOD UNIVERSITY (TX) KNIGHTS, scored a run in the 1st inning, little dreaming it would be the only run logged in the entire game. The Knights bounced the 8th seeded STERLING COLLEGE WARRIORS in this 1-0 pitcher’s duel.    ###    The 2nd seeded LEE UNIVERSITY FLAMES and the 7th seeded LEWIS-CLARK STATE WARRIORS were involved in an outright orgy of scoring yesterday. The game was tied at 10-10 headed into the 6th before the Flames started pulling away for a 14-11 victory.    ###    And the top seeded FAULKNER EAGLES won a 2-0 game for the ages against the 9 seeds, College World Series newcomers the MISSOURI BAPTIST UNIVERSITY SPARTANS.

Franklin Pierce Ravens logoDay One of the NCAA Division 2 World Series began with the FRANKLIN PIERCE UNIVERSITY RAVENS taking on the SHIPPENSBURG UNIVERSITY RED RAIDERS. The game was scoreless until the bottom of the 8th inning when the Ravens got on the board with one run. They then shut down the Red Raiders one last time in the top of the 9th to walk away with a 1-0 triumph.    ###    And in the only other game played yesterday in D2’s Series the MINNESOTA STATE MAVERICKS clashed with the GRAND VALLEY STATE UNIVERSITY LAKERS. NJCAA DIVISION THREE COLLEGE BASEBALL TEAMS MOVING ON TO THE WORLD SERIES

Tune in tomorrow for Balladeer’s Blog’s recap of Day One action in the College World Series’ for both the NAIA and D3. For today here’s a look at those NJCAA Division 3 teams who won their district tournaments and are moving on.

Niagara College ThunderwolvesDISTRICT A – The NIAGARA COLLEGE THUNDERWOLVES are 37-16 and advance to the NJCAA World Series after their exciting 5-1 upset of the ERIE COLLEGE KATS in the District A championship game. Other teams from that district left waiting til next year were the HERKIMER COLLEGE GENERALS and the ONONDAGA COLLEGE LASERS.

Waubonsee College ChiefsDISTRICT B – The WAUBONSEE COLLEGE CHIEFS are 36-22 and took the District B title to advance to the College World Series. The Chiefs accomplished that with their THIRTEEN to ONE gutting and scaling of the HARPER COLLEGE HAWKS in the championship game. NJCAA DIVISION TWO BASEBALL TEAMS MOVING ON TO THE COLLEGE WORLD SERIES

Tomorrow the College World Series begins in the NAIA and in D3, but for today here’s a look at teams from Division 2 of the NJCAA that won their District Championships and are advancing to their own Series.

Avery Point PointersEAST DISTRICT – The UCONN-AVERY POINT POINTERS (38-8) took the district title with a masterful 12-7 victory over the MONROE TRIBUNES in the championship game. Other teams left waiting for next year from the East District were the MERCYHURST NORTHEAST SAINTS, the ROCKLAND COLLEGE HAWKS, the WESTCHESTER VIKINGS and the COLLEGE OF RHODE ISLAND KNIGHTS.

Heartland College hawksMIDWEST DISTRICT – The HEARTLAND COLLEGE HAWKS (48-9) won the Midwest District by decimating the DANVILLE COLLEGE JAGUARS THIRTEEN to THREE! Also left in the wake of the Jaguars were the PARKLAND COLLEGE COBRAS, the LINCOLN COLLEGE LYNX, the ILLINOIS CENTRAL COLLEGE COUGARS and the LINCOLN LAND COLLEGE LOGGERS. Continue reading

NJCAA DIVISION ONE COLLEGE BASEBALL TEAMS ADVANCING TO THE WORLD SERIES

Neosho College PanthersCENTRAL DISTRICT – The NEOSHO COLLEGE PANTHERS emerged as the Central District champions with a 7-3 victory over the COFFEYVILLE COLLEGE RED RAVENS. The Panthers have an overall record of 35-25. Along the way to the district title Neosho also defeated the DODGE CITY COLLEGE CONQUISTADORS, the FORT SCOTT GREYHOUNDS and the KANSAS CITY COLLEGE BLUE DEVILS.

Walters State SenatorsEAST CENTRAL DISTRICT – The WALTERS STATE SENATORS took this district’s championship by way of a dominant 6-0 shutout of the COLUMBIA STATE (TN) CHARGERS. The Senators boast a season record of 37-16. COLLEGE BASEBALL: WEEKEND SCORES IN THE NAIA, NJCAA, D2 AND D3 WORLD SERIES

 Fire up the grill for a Memorial Day Weekend overflowing with college baseball World Series action! The NAIA got the holiday rolling yesterday with the opening 4 games of their event and today the NCAA Divisions 2 and 3 join them.

Not only that but the NJCAA Divisions 1 and 2 hit the diamond today as teams like the Scottsdale Fighting Artichokes (logo at left) mark day 1 of their World Series.

NJCAA1 COLLEGE WORLD SERIES TEAMS FINALIZED, PLUS DAY 5 OF THE NJCAA3 WORLD SERIES

 Perennial baseball power the Iowa Western Reivers  ( snazzy new logo at left) are among the field of 10 teams making the 2012 NJCAA Division 1 College World Series. Balladeer’s Blog takes a look at all of this year’s participants below.

Meanwhile the NJCAA Division 3 champs may be crowned tonight. The Joliet College Wolves and the Niagara Thunderwolves are the two teams left standing and they face each other tonight at 8pm ET. Niagara already has one loss in the Series so if they lose it’s all over. If the Thunderwolves win, however, it will only be Joliet’s first loss, forcing a deciding game tomorrow night.

 Balladeer’s Blog continues its coverage of postseason college baseball as day 2 of the NJCAA3 College World Series gets underway. The St Cloud Tech Cyclones (logo at left) and the Nassau College Lions start the action with an elimination game at 10am ET.

NCCAA COLLEGE WORLD SERIES TITLE GAME TODAY, NAIA AND NJCAA PLAYOFFS CONTINUE

 It’s another fine day of postseason college baseball action here at Balladeer’s Blog. The NCCAA2 World Series champions will be crowned today as those two juggernauts from the South Region, the Florida Christian College Suns and the Toccoa Falls College Eagles clash for the title.

The Suns and the defending champion Eagles are rapidly becoming the Yankees and Red Sox of the NCCAA. They faced each other for the South Region championship, then came into the World Series seeded 1st (TFC) and 2nd (FCC) and with the dust settled they’re the only teams left standing to play for it all.

Meanwhile the Galveston College Whitecaps (logo above left) are among the NJCAA teams hitting the diamond today as their playoffs resume, and in the NAIA playoffs the Oklahoma City Bracket rejoins the other brackets in action after a hiatus yesterday.
