CHAMPIONSHIP GAME: The 5 seeds – the CONCORDIA (MI) UNIVERSITY CARDINALS – played the 3rd seeded WARNER UNIVERSITY ROYALS in the Championship Game of the NCCAA World Series. After 2 scoreless Innings the Cardinals eked out a 1-0 edge in the 3rd.
A Pitcher’s Duel commenced for the next 4 Innings before both teams’ bats caught fire in the 8th. The Royals drove in their only 2 Runs that Inning while Concordia University added 5 to their total, ultimately winning the game 6-2. Billy Blair pitched for the win. * THE CARDINALS ARE CHAMPIONS OF NCCAA BASEBALL *
DAY TWO, GAME ONE: The 2nd seeded UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE & ARTS OF OKLAHOMA DROVERS did battle with the 10 seeds – the LEWIS-CLARK STATE WARRIORS (should be the Explorers). Neither team got on the scoreboard until the Drovers went on top 1-0 in the 3rd Inning.
USAO expanded their lead to 3-0 in the 5th Inning before the Warriors made it a 3-1 game in the 6th. The 7th and 8th Innings saw the Drovers’ advantage become 5-1 and then 6-1. Lewis-Clark State mustered just 1 more Run in the 9th for a final count of USAO 6 Warriors 2. Colton Williams was on the Mound for 9 Iron Man Innings for the victors.
DAY TWO, GAME TWO: The top seeds – the TENNESSEE WESLEYAN COLLEGE BULLDOGS – took on the 8th seeded INDIANA TECH WARRIORS (should be the Hoplites). By the 3rd Inning the Bulldogs had compiled an impressive 6-0 lead.
Tennessee Wesleyan College added another Run in each remaining at-bat while the Warriors could manage just 1 in the 6th Inning and 2 in the 9th. The Bulldogs won the game 11-3 behind Pitcher Cole Bellair. Continue reading
POOL PLAY: DAY TWO
The 7 seeds – the COLLEGE OF THE OZARKS BOBCATS – won two games yesterday. In Game One of Day Two they took on the 6th seeded TRINITY CHRISTIAN COLLEGE TROLLS. A 2-0 2nd Inning lead for the Bobcats became a 2-1 game by the 4th. Both teams’ bats caught fire the final 3 Innings but College of the Ozarks won it 10-6 behind Pitcher Bryce Burtless.
In the 5th game of the day the Bobcats faced the 10 seeds – the RANDALL UNIVERSITY SAINTS. The score was knotted up at 1-1 in the 1st Inning before the College of the Ozarks went on top 2-1 in the 2nd Inning. A 6-3 5th Inning advantage for the Bobcats held up as the final tally, too, with Pitcher Andrew Huckaby on the Mound for 9 Iron Man Innings for the victors.
The top seeded SOUTHWESTERN CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY EAGLES took the diamond against the 9 seeds – the ECCLESIA COLLEGE ROYALS – in the 4th game of the day. A 1-1 tie in the opening Inning became a 2-1 Eagles lead in the 2nd. The 5th Inning saw the Royals go up 3-2 before SCU knotted the score at 3-3 in the 7th. POOL PLAY: DAY ONE
The 3 seeds – the WARNER UNIVERSITY ROYALS – won a pair of games yesterday. In Game One the Royals faced the 6th seeded TRINITY CHRISTIAN COLLEGE TROLLS. A 3-3 tie in the 5th Inning became a 7-4 Royals lead in the 7th and ultimately a 9-6 victory for Warner University Pitcher Andres Fernandez.
Game Six saw the Royals clash with the 10 seeds – the RANDALL UNIVERSITY SAINTS. Warner U limited the Saints to just 3 Runs and all of those came in the 6th Inning. The Royals peppered the scoreboard with Runs of their own throughout the game, slaughtering Randall University 14-3 behind Pitcher Jaryd Clary.
The 2nd seeded BLUEFIELD COLLEGE RAMBLING RAMS likewise went 2-0 in Pool Play on Wednesday. In Game Four the Rambling Rams battled the 7 seeds – the COLLEGE OF THE OZARKS BOBCATS. The 9th Inning ended with the teams deadlocked at 5-5. Neither team scored in the 10th but in the 11th Bluefield College edged the Bobcats 6-5. Kody Gardere threw for the win.
In Game Eight the Rambling Rams faced the 6th seeded TRINITY CHRISTIAN COLLEGE TROLLS. Bluefield converted a 3-1 advantage in the 3rd Inning into a 13-4 blowout triumph over the hapless Trolls. Alex Perkins was on the Mound for 9 Iron Man Innings for the victors. Continue reading

DAY FOUR – Yesterday was the final day of the 2014 College World Series in the NCCAA (National Christian College Athletic Association). Three games brought the action to a close, the two semifinals and then the championship game. The first semifinal saw the 4 seeds – the FRESNO PACIFIC UNIVERSITY SUNBIRDS take on the 7th seeded CEDARVILLE UNIVERSITY YELLOW JACKETS. The Sunbirds, playing their best baseball at just the right time of year, authoritatively downed the Yellow Jackets 6-1.
The second semifinal was played between the 3rd seeded LEE UNIVERSITY FLAMES and the Cinderella 9 seeds – the SHORTER UNIVERSITY HAWKS. This explosive game saw the Flames emerge victorious by a final score of 11-8 to to set up the Fresno Pacific versus Lee University clash for the crown.
In the championship game last evening the bats were as red-hot as they were in the second semifinal that afternoon. PRASCO PARK – EARLY GAMES – Yesterday was Day Three of the College World Series for the NCCAA (National Christian College Athletic Association). The 3rd seeded LEE UNIVERSITY FLAMES upset the 2nd seeded TREVECCA NAZARENE UNIVERSITY TROJANS by a score of 4-1. In Series play the Flames are now 2-1, the Trojans 2-2. ### The 7th seeded CEDARVILLE UNIVERSITY YELLOW JACKETS improved to 3-0 in Series play, clobbering the now 0-3 10 seeds – the LANCASTER BIBLE COLLEGE CHARGERS – in a 10-1 annihilation.
LEGACY FIELD – EARLY GAMES – Meanwhile over at Legacy Field the 4th seeded FRESNO PACIFIC UNIVERSITY SUNBIRDS likewise moved to 3-0 with a dominant 4-0 shutout of the top seeded OKLAHOMA CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY EAGLES, who fall to 1-2-1. ### And in Legacy Field’s other early game the 8th seeded TRINITY CHRISTIAN COLLEGE TROLLS came up short once again in a game for the ages, losing to the 9th seeded SHORTER UNIVERSITY HAWKS 6-4. CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – Yesterday was the final day of the 2014 World Series for the USCAA (United States Collegiate Athletic Association). The 2nd seeded LINDENWOOD UNIVERSITY AT BELLEVILLE LYNX were 3-0 in Series play and were simply awaiting their title game opponent. That opponent would be the winner of the clash between the 4th seeded NEWPORT NEWS APPRENTICE SCHOOL BUILDERS and the top seeded defending champions – the UNIVERSITY OF CINCINATTI AT CLERMONT COUGARS. That game was knotted up at 2-2 in the 4th Inning but in the 5th the Cougars took a 4-2 lead and rode that score all the way to the win. Everett Osborne was the winning pitcher.
The battle for the USCAA crown was pretty much of an anticlimax after that exciting game. The Lynx went up 4-0 by the end of the 1st Inning, 5-0 after the 2nd and then led 9-2 after UC- Clermont scored their only runs in the 3rd. LU- Belleville then masterfully logged even more runs in the 6th, 7th and 8th Innings to take the title by a final score of FIFTEEN to TWO! They still proved potent in this first year of combined play, however, stunning the 3rd seeded LEE UNIVERSITY FLAMES in a 6-1 beatdown that set the nation talking!
DAY ONE: GAME THREE – Then two games featuring the two top seeds in the NCCAA World Series closed out Day One. Yesterday the top seeded defending champions of NCCAA Division One baseball, the CALIFORNIA BAPTIST UNIVERSITY LANCERS, took their second national championship in a row. Their opponents were the 5th seeded SOUTHEASTERN UNIVERSITY FIRE and though there was a lot of riveting baseball throughout the rest of the NCCAA College World Series the championship game was kind of anticlimactic.
The Lancers wound up winning by a score of 7-0, leaving the only real question yesterday being whether or not Cal Baptist can make it a Threepeat next year. Yesterday the final two teams to make it to the semi-finals won the early games to fill the final two slots in the Final Four. The 5th seeded SOUTHEASTERN UNIVERSITY FIRE advanced to the semis by shutting out the 9th seeded OKLAHOMA CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY EAGLES 4-0. The 6 seeds, the OLIVET NAZARENE UNIVERSITY TIGERS, completed the party list with a 5-2 victory over the 10th seeded COVENANT COLLEGE SCOTS.
In the actual semifinals the Fire upset the 2nd seeded CAMPBELLSVILLE UNIVERSITY TIGERS in a 2-0 game for the ages.
