DAY ONE: GAME ONE – Here’s a recap of the opening day of the World Series in the NCCAA (National Christian College Athletic Association). The 4th seeded FRESNO PACIFIC UNIVERSITY SUNBIRDS more than doubled up on the 5th seeded BLUEFIELD COLLEGE RAMBLING RAMS, defeating them by a score of 8-3.
DAY ONE: GAME TWO – The 6th seeded TOCCOA FALLS COLLEGE EAGLES are coming off three NCCAA Division Two national championships in a row from when NCCAA baseball was divided into two divisions. They still proved potent in this first year of combined play, however, stunning the 3rd seeded LEE UNIVERSITY FLAMES in a 6-1 beatdown that set the nation talking!
DAY ONE: GAME THREE – Then two games featuring the two top seeds in the NCCAA World Series closed out Day One. The 7 seeds – the CEDARVILLE UNIVERSITY YELLOW JACKETS – rose up and toppled the 2nd seeded TREVECCA NAZARENE UNIVERSITY TROJANS! The final tally in this orgy of offense was no less than 11-7!
DAY ONE: GAME FOUR – And to close out the day the top seeded OKLAHOMA CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY EAGLES got much more than they bargained for from the 8th seeded TRINITY CHRISTIAN COLLEGE TROLLS. The Trolls played the Eagles tight all the way but in the end Oklahoma Christian University battled to survive a 4-3 Instant Classic.
* USCAA WORLD SERIES *
DAY THREE: GAME ONE – The 2nd seeded LINDENWOOD UNIVERSITY AT BELLEVILLE LYNX did battle with the likewise undefeated (in World Series play) 4 seeds – the NEWPORT NEWS APPRENTICE SCHOOL BUILDERS. The winner would move directly to Day Four’s National Championship Series. The Lynx led 6-0 by the 5th Inning, with the Builders not even getting on the scoreboard until they notched one lone run in the 7th. LU- Belleville won the game 6-1 and await their title opponent when the other games are complete. Mike Wuelling got the win for the Lynx.
DAY THREE: GAME TWO – The 8th seeded VICTORY UNIVERSITY EAGLES continue to do their institution proud as they play these final games before Victory U closes its doors forever this summer. The Eagles’ opponents this time – the 6th seeded SAINT JOSEPH’S COLLEGE OF BROOKLYN BEARS – got off to a 3-0 lead in the 2nd Inning but VU tied it up in the top of the 5th. After 6 the score was 6-5 in favor of SJC but the Eagles kept their feel-good story going with a 3-run 7th Inning, ultimately winning by a score of 8-6. Pitcher Barry Bartlett got credit for the save.
DAY THREE: GAMES THREE AND FOUR – Next the top seeded defending champions of USCAA baseball – the UNIVERSITY OF CINCINATTI AT CLERMONT COUGARS – took on the 3rd seeded PENN STATE AT GREATER ALLEGHENY NITTANY LIONS. The accent was on defense in this rematch of last year’s championship game with the 2 runs put up by the Cougars in the 3rd Inning constituting all the scoring in this 2-0 shutout. The “W” went to Nick Mason. ### And in Game Four UC- Clermont faced Victory University for the right to take on Newport News in Game One of Day Four. The savvy Cougars never really let the Eagles in the game, leading 6-0 in the 2nd Inning and 11-0 in the 3rd enroute to a NINETEEN to NOTHING annihilation of the farewell edition of Victory University’s athletic program.
* NAIA PLAYOFFS *
JACKSON BRACKET – The top seeded OKLAHOMA WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY EAGLES wrapped up their business yesterday. First off the 3rd seeded BELHAVEN COLLEGE BLAZERS thoroughly roughed up the 5 seeds – the UNIVERSITY OF HOUSTON AT VICTORIA JAGUARS – in an 11-4 rout to advance to the bracket’s title game. ### Then in the Main Event (1) Oklahoma Wesleyan University socked in a run in the top of the 9th Inning for an 8-7 victory in this epic of the diamond. * THE EAGLES ADVANCE TO THE NAIA WORLD SERIES *
SANTA CLARITA BRACKET – Another top seed – the SAN DIEGO CHRISTIAN COLLEGE HAWKS – lived up to their placement in yesterdays’ action. In the opening game the 5th seeded UNIVERSITY OF BRITISH COLUMBIA THUNDERBIRDS came back from being down 3-0 in the 6th Inning to win a 4-3 heartbreaker against the 3rd seeded DAVENPORT UNIVERSITY PANTHERS. ### Next the (1) Hawks managed a gripping 2-0 shutout over the (5) Thunderbirds to take the title! * THE HAWKS ADVANCE TO THE NAIA WORLD SERIES *
KINGSPORT BRACKET – The 3rd seeded CUMBERLAND UNIVERSITY BULLDOGS needed to survive an elimination game in the opener yesterday. The Bulldogs absolutely hammered the 4th seeded BRYAN COLLEGE LIONS, scoring 8 runs to the 1 scored by the Lions. ### Next Cumberland University faced the top seeded MISSOURI BAPTIST UNIVERSITY SPARTANS, who had a game to give. The Bulldogs forced a decisive game on Day Four by holding on to win a thrilling 6-4 game.
MARION BRACKET – The 3rd seeded MOUNT VERNON NAZARENE UNIVERSITY COUGARS handed the 5 seeds – the SPRING ARBOR UNIVERSITY COUGARS their first loss of the tourney. MVNU came out on top 4-1. ### And the top seeded GEORGETOWN (KY) COLLEGE TIGERS showed no mercy against the 4th seeded MIDLAND UNIVERSITY WARRIORS, eliminating them in a non-competitive ELEVEN to ONE laugher.
DAYTONA BEACH BRACKET – The 2nd seeded EMBRY- RIDDLE AERONAUTICAL UNIVERSITY EAGLES started off the action in this bracket yesterday by handily winning a 7-2 elimination game against the 4th seeded TENNESSEE WESLEYAN COLLEGE BULLDOGS. TWC left 6 men stranded on base. ### Next the (2) Eagles battled the top seeded SOUTHERN POLYTECHNIC RUNNING HORNETS and forced an additional game on Day Four, trashing them with ease to the tune of 10-2.
SHAWNEE BRACKET – The 5th seeded BACONE COLLEGE WARRIORS eliminated the 3rd seeded NORTHWESTERN (IA) COLLEGE RED RAIDERS in a nailbiting 2-0 shutout. ### Meanwhile the top seeded OKLAHOMA BAPTIST UNIVERSITY BISON notched a shutout win of their own, defeating the 2nd seeded BELLEVILLE UNIVERSITY BRUINS by a score of 4-0. ### And the (2) Bruins then went on to eliminate the (5) Warriors with a 2-1 come-from-behind victory.
HUTCHINSON BRACKET – The Cinderella 5 seeds – the VITERBO UNIVERSITY V-HAWKS – remain THE story of the Hutchinson Bracket. Yesterday they survived two elimination games, the first against the 4th seeded MAYVILLE STATE UNIVERSITY COMETS by a blowout score of 12-3. ### And in the second game the (5) V-Hawks likewise clubbed the 3rd seeded UNIVERSITY OF JAMESTOWN JIMMIES, this time by a slightly closer score of 11-4.
LAWRENCEVILLE BRACKET – Due to rainy weather there was only one game played in this bracket yesterday. In that game the top seeded GEORGIA GWINNETT COLLEGE GRIZZLIES took the diamond against the 5th seeded SAINT FRANCIS (IL) FIGHTING SAINTS. The Grizzlies led 2-0 after the 1st Inning and 6-0 after the 2nd. The Fighting Saints gamely made it 6-1 in the 3rd and 6-4 in the 4th. GGC accelerated to a 10-4 lead until USF made it a 10-7 game in the bottom of the 8th Inning. One more run for each team in the 9th made it an 11-8 final score to send the Fighting Saints home.
MONTGOMERY BRACKET – No games Wednesday due to rain.

NORTH (2) DISTRICT – DAY ONE – The JACKSON COLLEGE JETS trailed the DELTA COLLEGE PIONEERS 1-0 in the 3rd Inning then took a 5-1 lead in the 4th. By the 7th the game was tied up 5-5 but the Jets scored in the bottom of the 9th for a 6-5 win! ### And the KELLOGG COLLEGE BRUINS got off to a 7-3 1st Inning lead over the GRAND RAPIDS COLLEGE RAIDERS and never looked back. The Bruins humiliated the Raiders SEVENTEEN to THREE!
