CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – The 4 seeds – the LEWIS-CLARK STATE WARRIORS – did battle with the Cinderella 9 seeds – the SAINT THOMAS (FL) UNIVERSITY BOBCATS. The Bobcats looked like they might keep on dancing as they seized a quick 5-0 advantage in the 1st Inning. The Warriors cut that lead to 5-1 in the 3rd but Saint Thomas University stretched it back out to a 7-1 lead in the 5th. No one knew it at the time but that was the last run the Bobcats would score in the game. Lewis-Clark State put up 2 runs in the 6th Inning, 1 more in the 7th and after a lightning delay SIX more in the 8th. The Warriors won their 17th title in baseball and their 1st since 2009 by a score of 10-7. DAY SEVEN – The only game of the day in the D2 World Series saw the CATAWBA COLLEGE INDIANS taking on the CAL POLY AT POMONA BRONCOS for the right to face the University of Tampa in the Championship Game. After a scoreless 1st Inning the Broncos went up 2-0 in the 2nd. That became a 4-2 lead in the 3rd before the Indians tied the game up at 4-4 in the 4th. From there Catawba College managed 5 more runs but Cal Poly- Pomona mustered just 2 more. The Indians advanced to the title game by a final score of 9-6. Pitcher Ryan McClintock got the win.

DAY SEVEN – There was just one game yesterday in this division’s World Series as well. In this contest the MCLENNAN COLLEGE HIGHLANDERS squared off against the WALTERS STATE SENATORS to see who gets to face Northwest Florida State in the title game. Neither team scored until the Senators went up 1-0 in the 3rd Inning. The Highlanders made their move and led 2-1 in the 4th and 6-4 in the 5th on their way to an 11-5 victory. McLennan College’s Reece Calvert picked up the W.

DAY SEVEN – GAME ONE – Starting the day was this clash between the LOUISIANA STATE UNIVERSITY AT EUNICE BENGALS and the UNIVERSITY OF CONNECTICUT AT AVERY POINT POINTERS. The Bengals scored at least 1 run in each of the first 3 Innings for a lead of 4-0 before the Pointers made it 4-1 in the 4th. UConn- Avery Point went on to grab a 6-5 edge in the 5th Inning which became a 6-6 tie in the 6th. After an explosive 7th Inning the score stood at 11-11 with LSU- Eunice grabbing a 14-11 lead in the 8th. The Pointers knotted the score once again at 14-14 in the bottom of the 9th and neither team scored again until the Bengals nabbed a pair of runs in the THIRTEENTH Inning for a 16-14 triumph.
DAY SEVEN – GAME TWO – Closing out the day were the WESTERN OKLAHOMA STATE PIONEERS and the CATAWBA VALLEY COLLEGE RED HAWKS. The Pioneers led 2-0 in the 1st Inning but the Red Hawks tied things up at 2-2 in the 3rd. Catawba Valley College then went out in front 3-2 in the 5th Inning but that became a 3-3 tie in the 6th. The Western Oklahoma State bats exploded from there for 3, 1 and 2 runs in the 7th, 8th and 9th Innings respectively to eliminate the Red Hawks by a final count of 9-3.
