CHAMPIONSHIP SERIES – The CORTLAND STATE RED DRAGONS won Game One of the 2015 World Series in D3 in commanding style. First up the UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN AT LACROSSE EAGLES fought the TRINITY (TX) UNIVERSITY TIGERS for the right to play the Red Dragons. The Eagles won a 10-7 affair to advance to the title series.
Cortland State parlayed a 2-0 1st Inning lead into a 5-0 advantage in the 2nd on their way to an ELEVEN to THREE rout of UW-Lacrossse. Pitcher Brandon McClain got the win. Game Two in the best of 3 series comes next.

DAY FOUR – GAME ONE – The Cinderella 9 seeds – The SAINT THOMAS (FL) UNIVERSITY BOBCATS – are still dancing after eliminating the top seeded OKLAHOMA BAPTIST UNIVERSITY BISON. The Bobcats were on top most of the way, leading 1-0 in the 1st Inning, 3-0 in the 4th and 4-0 in the 5th. The Bison notched 1 run in the 6th Inning and 3 more in the top of the 9th to tie the score at 4-4. In the bottom of the 9th St Thomas University knocked in a run to win the game 5-4. Chris Rodriguez picked up the W.
DAY FOUR – GAME TWO – Up next the 6th seeded EMBRY- RIDDLE AERONAUTICAL UNIVERSITY EAGLES (should be the Aeronauts) took on the 8 seeds – the CONCORDIA (CA) EAGLES (should be the Condors). Like St Thomas U in Game One Embry- Riddle Aeronautical University led handily most of the way, by scores of 3-0 in the 1st Inning, 5-0 in the 2nd and 6-2 in the 6th. A Concordia rally in the 8th and 9th Innings fell just short as ERAU emerged with a 6-5 triumph for Pitcher Stetson Nelson.
DAY FOUR – GAME THREE – Closing out the day yesterday was this orgy of offense that pitted the 2nd seeded FAULKNER UNIVERSITY EAGLES (should be the Furies) against the 4th seeded LEWIS- CLARK STATE WARRIORS. The Warriors seized a 3-2 lead in the 1st Inning but the Eagles made it a 4-3 game in the 2nd. Lewis- Clark State countered that by grabbing an 8-7 edge in the 4th and so it went. In the end Faulkner University won this shootout by a polo score of 12-10. Phillip Anderson pitched for the win.
* NCAA DIVISION TWO *
DAY FOUR – GAME ONE – The UNIVERSITY OF TAMPA SPARTANS did battle with the MERCYHURST UNIVERSITY LAKERS to start the day in D2. After a scoreless 1st Inning the Lakers went up 1-0 in the 2nd but the Spartans tied it up at 1-1 in the 4th. Additional runs for the University of Tampa in the 5th and 8th Innings gave them a 3-1 victory. Chase Sparkman went all 9 Iron Man Innings for the Spartans.
DAY FOUR – GAME TWO – Closing out the fourth day in D2 was this game between the CAL POLY AT POMONA BRONCOS and the TRUMAN STATE BULLDOGS (should be the Presidents). A 2-2 tie in the 2nd Inning was as close as it got. Soon the Broncos began hammering their opponents and won in a THIRTEEN to TWO buttkicking. Ryan Olson was the winning Pitcher.
* NJCAA DIVISION ONE *
DAY FOUR – GAME ONE – The IOWA WESTERN COLLEGE REIVERS and the YAVAPAI COLLEGE ROUGHRIDERS started the day. After 4 scoreless Innings the Reivers seized a 4-0 lead in the 5th. The Roughriders mustered just 1 run in the 7th Inning as Iowa Western College won by a count of 4-1. Michael Klein threw for the win.
DAY FOUR – GAME TWO – This game pitted the MCLENNAN COLLEGE HIGHLANDERS against the SAN JACINTO COLLEGE- NORTH GATORS. After trailing 2-1 in the 2nd Inning the Highlanders were in control the rest of the game, leading 7-3 in the 3rd enroute to an 11-6 triumph. The winning Pitcher was Dustin Jourdan.
DAY FOUR – GAME THREE – Closing out the day was a clash between the NORTHWEST FLORIDA STATE RAIDERS and the CHATTAHOOCHIE VALLEY COLLEGE PIRATES. Neither team scored in the first 2 Innings but in the 3rd the Raiders went up 2-0 and stayed on top for a 10-1 rout of the Pirates. Will Luft picked up the win.
* NJCAA DIVISION TWO *
DAY FOUR – GAME ONE – The NORTH IOWA AREA COLLEGE TROJANS squared off against the MADISON COLLEGE WOLFPACK. The Trojans were in the lead 4-0 in the 1st Inning but the Wolfpack made it a 4-1 game in the 2nd. That was the last run Madison College would score, however, as North Iowa Area College trounced them by a final score of ELEVEN to ONE.
DAY FOUR – GAME TWO – Up next was an epic of the diamond between the KELLOGG COLLEGE BRUINS and the UNIVERSITY OF CONNECTICUT AT AVERY POINT POINTERS. After 2 scoreless Innings the Bruins managed a 1-0 edge in the 3rd but the Pointers came back for a 3-1 lead in the 4th. Kellogg College tied up the game at 3-3 in the 7th Inning and then in the TENTH notched the game-winner for a 4-3 victory.
DAY FOUR – GAME THREE – To finish the fourth day in this division the CATAWBA VALLEY COLLEGE RED HAWKS gave the NORTH IOWA AREA COLLEGE TROJANS a taste of what they had dealt out earlier to Madison. The Red Hawks’ 2-0 lead in the 2nd Inning became a 5-0 advantage in the 4th and ultimately a 9-0 shutout.
