FRANK LEAMAN BAYLIES – For the first eleven days of November Balladeer’s Blog takes a look at neglected figures of World War One, ending on Veterans Day. Frank Leaman Baylies tried to serve as a pilot in the U.S. Army but was rejected for supposedly poor vision, so in May 1917 he enlisted in the French flying corps instead.
Baylies flew with Escadrille 73 as the 13th man in the unit, flying a plane numbered 13. Frank philosophically shrugged off superstition, feeling lucky to be flying at all after being rejected by his home country’s air corps. In December of 1917 he was transferred to Escadrille 3, and really found his niche flying a Spad.
On February 19th, 1918 Baylies got his first verified kill, ultimately notching a total of 12 plus one more possible by May 31st. March 28th saw Frank shot down over No Man’s Land. After landing his crippled aircraft Baylies grabbed the altimeter and time-piece from the plane before scrambling toward the French trenches. The pilot was pursued by German soldiers but made it safely to the French lines. Continue reading

Balladeer’s Blog had proceeded from the assumption that most readers were familiar with flying ace Eddie Rickenbacker but comments and emails indicate otherwise. Here’s a look at him as we lead up to another November 11th, now called Veterans Day but formerly known as Armistice Day since November 11th, 1918 marked the end of World War One.
EDDIE RICKENBACKER – “Fast Eddie” Rickenbacker was first known as a race-car driver who competed in four Indianapolis 500’s before the U.S. entered World War One. Upon America’s entry into the conflict Rickenbacker enlisted in the Army and was in France with his unit by late June 1917.
Fast Eddie’s mechanical abilities – honed working with engines during his racing days – kept him grounded as a mechanic for several months. During that period Rickenbacker learned to fly in nearly every spare moment. Eventually he got his wings and took to the air with America’s legendary Hat in the Ring Squadron (the 94th Aero Squadron).
Eddie made Ace – five confirmed kills – with less than a full month between his first kill and his fifth. Lieutenant – eventually Captain – Rickenbacker scored his sixth verified kill on May 30th, 1918 before getting an ear infection which kept him out of the air for a few months. Here at Balladeer’s Blog I am still having the time of my life watching all of the white collar criminals called Democrats and Republicans rolling on each other. The latest is former DNC Consigliere Donna Brazille, the ABC “News Woman” (LMFAO) who admitted to feeding Hillary Clinton advance questions going into the televised debates last year.
Donna succeeded Hillary Clinton stooge Deborah Wasserman-Schultz as Consigliere and she has her own book out now about Clinton and DNC corruption. It will come as no surprise to my fellow aficionados of American “tell-all” books about political corruption that Brazille’s work is the typically self-serving wallow.
Donna insists she was “Shocked! Shocked I tell you” – as Louis in Casablanca would say – at how thoroughly Hillary had corrupted the Democrat National Committee. Wide-eyed Ms Brazille lays out a lot of details on how Obama and Hillary put the DNC so heavily in debt AND how Hillary and her underlings used the DNC apparatus to rob Bernie Sanders of the Democrat Presidential Nomination last year. Eugene Bullard
For another Veterans Day post I’ll do another shoutout to the Flying Aces of World War One. The movie Flyboys is a good fictional film about their mystique (but based on the real-life Lafayette Escadrille).
EUGENE BULLARD – This African-American boxer from Columbus, GA served in the French Foreign Legion as early as the Battle of Verdun in 1916 and had already won a Croix de Guerre before joining the legendary Lafayette Escadrille on a bet.(!) He qualified but the prejudiced Frenchman Dr Edmund Le Gros rejected him for service.
Bullard instead flew a Spad 7 with French Escadrille 93. Eugene still had an uphill fight against prejudice and the French supposedly failed to credit him with all of his kills, limiting him to just 2 in the official records but tradition credits Bullard with between 5 and 9. He had what may be the best nickname outside of the Red Baron and was called the Black Swallow of Death. On the side of his plane he painted the words “ALL blood runs red” in reference to the bigotry he had faced.
THE IACCACI BROTHERS – In the 1960s young American men would head to Canada to avoid serving in the Vietnam War. During World War One a number of young American men headed to Canada to serve in British Military Units because the U.S. had not yet entered the conflict.
Two of those men were Paul T Iaccaci and his younger brother August. The brothers served in the 20th British Squadron flying Bristol F.2 Fighters.
Both brothers were Ivy League men – Paul at Harvard, August at Princeton. Both Iaccaci’s became Aces on the exact same day – May 31st, 1918. Paul ended the war with 17 kills and his brother August … kept the uncanny coincidences going with 17 kills of his own. In late October of 1918 August was wounded in the eye and spent the few remaining days of the war hospitalized in England. Continue reading

The Muslim Fascist attack in New York served as another reminder of what our unresponsive Political Caste continues inflicting on all of us. They’ll probably call for even MORE unvetted Muslim immigration after this.

A Muslim fascist suicide bomber killed TWENTY-NINE innocent people and injured over THIRTY more.
October 16th: Nkiedonwhro, Nigeria – Fulani Muslims – the local affiliate of the Global Muslim Fascist Murder Machine – massacred TWENTY-NINE innocent people and injured 3 more for being Christian instead of Muslim. Coexistence!
October 29th: Gouderi, Cameroon – Boko Haram, the local affiliate of the Global Muslim Fascist Murder Machine – killed ELEVEN innocent people.
October 31st: New York City, New York – A Muslim fascist who is only in the U.S. through one of the programs President Trump seeks to end used a vehicle to kill EIGHT innocent people and injure over TWELVE more. Democrats vow they will STILL oppose President Trump on stopping this program. No surprise there.
(Whatever happened to Democrats pretending that if something “saves even ONE life it’s worth it”? Not when their fetish for ONLY violent Muslims is concerned.)

Harry Truman in World War One
Veterans Day is approaching so Balladeer’s Blog is presenting another look at World War One since November 11th marks the date that war ended.
HARRY S TRUMAN, CAPTAIN OF BATTERY D – This future Democratic Party Senator, future Vice President and future President is credited with one of my favorite quotes: “There’s nothing new in the world except the history you don’t know.”
That Show-Me State Seneca was in charge of Artillery Battery D, a hard-fighting unit that was often deployed well forward, in the heart of the action. During the Meuse-Argonne Offensive in 1918 Truman’s Battery D provided fire in support of the young George Patton’s tank brigade. “Captain Harry’s” boys engaged German field guns, eliminating and forcing the abandonment of enemy batteries at a noteworthy rate. In the spirit of “Marsha, Marsha, Marsha” the irrational buffoons called Democrats (DemCorp) have been whining “Russia, Russia, Russia” ever since America’s de facto Third Party President Donald Trump humiliated Hillary Clinton last November.
Their obsession with alleged knavish activity on the part of the Russians is hysterically hypocritical given Hillary’s absurd “Reset Button” nonsense and Obama’s pathetic message for Medvedev to be relayed to Putin. Remember, Barack wanted Vlad Putin to know he’d “have more flexibility” after the 2012 election to cooperate with Putin.
You know – the same Vlad Putin that Obama, Hillary and the rest of the Democrats have been denouncing as a global menace worse than the Islamic State (Obamastan) and North Korea rolled into one. The Democrats’ paranoia about Russia is such that their new slogan should be: DEMOCRATS: THINK OF US AS JOHN BIRCHERS IN CHE GUEVARA T-SHIRTS!
Funniest of all is how ALL OF THIS HAS BACKFIRED ON CROOKED HILLARY ONCE AGAIN! All of us rational people in the U.S. are laughing like hell at the way Democrat Party media outlets are acting like Manafort is a big deal. Not only was the man Trump’s campaign manager for barely a few months but the charges he’s been indicted for GO BACK BEFORE HE HAD ANYTHING TO DO WITH TRUMP OR THE TRUMP CAMPAIGN!
Meanwhile, Tony Podesta, one of Hillary Clinton’s dirty deeds thugs for what seems like forever, has been forced to step down! And the emerging dirt on the URANIUM ONE deal is making Hillary and her fake charity look even more crooked than before! And I didn’t think that was possible!
To say nothing of the emerging details about Hillary and the Democrats’ role in the National Enquirer-level Steele Dossier aka For More Laughs Only.
