TOM STEYER DENIES BEING COMPOSED PURELY OF BODY LICE

Tom SteyerThe question puzzling the internet of late has been: Is one percenter and bloated rich pig Tom Steyer a colony creature composed of nothing but body lice? Recently a non-existent reporter for Balladeer’s Blog asked the allegedly heartless capitalist a direct question about this matter and Steyer denied it.

When faced with the follow-up question “Do you pass body lice on to those in your immediate vicinity” the parasitic oppressor of the workers replied that he had to run because it was time for a meeting with crooked members of Congress. However, Steyer STILL refuses to donate more money to charity.

Hopefully this closes the chapter on this bizarre conspiracy theory about Steyer being a colony creature composed purely of body lice. Sure it would be less disgusting than being a bloated rich pig but, as the saying goes … Continue reading

BAD MOVIES AND SHORTS FOR THANKSGIVING

Blood Freak (1972)

Blood Freak (1972)

For Thanksgiving time Balladeer’s Blog often gives shout-outs to bad movies and hilariously lame educational shorts that have a specific Thanksgiving theme. As always my Bad Movie page contains full-length reviews of the films I’m offering a brief synopsis of here.

BLOOD FREAK (1972) – This movie is about a man who turns into a murderous monster with the head of a turkey after he eats a chemically treated gobbler at the turkey farm where he works. Blood Freak has been a cult classic for Thanksgiving for decades now, with many Movie Host shows of the late 70’s onward making a point of screening it at this time of year (including The Texas 27 Film Vault). The biker who turns into the blood-crazed turkey monster is Continue reading

THE QUEER SIDE OF THINGS: ANCIENT SCIENCE FICTION

StrandTHE QUEER SIDE OF THINGS (1890s) – Written by James Frank Sullivan.  Straight from the Gay Nineties, it’s a selection of Sullivan’s contributions to the Strand magazine’s short fiction column The Queer Side of Things.

So, before we all find ourselves on Queer Street just because some Dick wants to arrest us for seeming as queer as a clockwork orange, here’s a snatch of J.F.’s work from The Queer Side of Things column.

OLD PROFESSOR WILLETT (December 1892) – Professor Willett announces to his family that his latest invention is going to make all of them rich but refuses to elaborate. Willett disappears after a few days without revealing any more details.

Foul play is suspected and the story’s narrator investigates. It turns out the Professor had devised a highly advanced explosive made from natural fibers. The explosive goes off with no sound and is so rapid its victims seem to simply vanish.

Willett was the first to go during an accident with his invention. Other family members have been perishing/ vanishing, too and the narrator is desperate to save his fiancée – one of the Professor’s daughters – from meeting the same fate.

SPOILER: He is too late and in despair lets himself die from the super-explosive, too.

THE DWINDLING HOUR (January 1893) – Pre-Einsteinian look at Relativity. A relic in the form of a water clock made from rare stone around 5000 B.C. gets passed down from civilization to civilization. Odd changes in the size of the water hole in the bowl of the water clock seem harmless at first but eventually are understood to be ominous.  Continue reading

KERI SMITH: ANOTHER LIBERAL DRIVEN AWAY BY THE LEFT’S INTOLERANCE

Camille Paglia QuoteHere at Balladeer’s Blog I’ve written plenty about how disgusted I became with the way that American Liberalism (really “illiberalism”) has devolved into a faith-based belief system as irrational as any other religion. So for a change of pace I’m once again linking to an article by another disillusioned figure expressing such sentiments.

The link is below but first some quotes:

“On leaving the SJW cult and finding myself I’ve been undergoing a pretty significant change in the way I interpret the world and how to ‘be’ in it.”

“I see increasing numbers of so-called liberals cheering censorship and defending violence as a response to speech. I see seemingly reasonable people wishing death on others and laughing at escalating suicide and addiction rates of the white working class.

Holocaust survivor on fascism“I see liberal think pieces written in opposition to expressing empathy or civility in interactions with those with whom we disagree. I see Trump voters written off as “nazis” who are okay to target with physical violence. I see concepts like equality and justice being used as a mask for resentful, murderous rage.

“How easy is it for ordinary humans to commit atrocious acts? History teaches us it’s pretty damn easy when you are blinded to your own hypocrisy. When you believe you are morally superior, when you have dehumanized those you disagree with, you can justify almost anything. In a particularly vocal part of the left, justification for dehumanizing and committing violence against those on the right has already begun.

“Since shedding the prison of my former ideology, I have a renewed passion for reading, a newfound interest in philosophy, psychology, history and spirituality. Instead of trying to fix others, these days I try to focus on improving myself …” Continue reading

THE MANIPULATORS (1970): FORGOTTEN TELEVISION

marcstrange 0001THE MANIPULATORS (1970) – The words “gritty” and “streetwise” seem never to be used when describing vintage television programs from Canada but they certainly apply to The Manipulators (Originally the title was to be The Clients).

If you enjoyed underrated Canadian shows like The Beachcombers or Police Surgeon you might like The Manipulators, an hour-long dramatic series about parole officers and the men and women they were responsible for. Compared to 21st Century television, which seems infested with law enforcement procedural shows 24/7, this program would have seemed much less derivative for early 70s viewers.    Continue reading
