MUSLIM VIOLENCE AWARENESS YEAR: THE LATEST

Islamophobia posterI consider all religions to be nothing but irrational mythology. That said there is only ONE religion in the world that elected officials and the increasingly shrill media constantly try to browbeat the rest of us into regarding with a reverence it does not deserve: Islam. (But only those elements of Islam that are violent and want to live in the past. Muslims working to reform their faith get ignored by the Left, who accuse them of “internalizing Western oppression.”)

March 13th – Bassam, Ivory Coast – Muslim fascists attacked a beach resort, killing 16 innocent people and wounding over 17. The attackers used their weapons on anyone who refused to praise Allah.

March 9th – Mogadishu, Somalia – Islamists used a suicide bomber to kill 4 innocent people and wound 2 others.

March 7th – Ben Guerdane, Tunisia – Muslim fascists carried out an attack on the town, killing 19 innocent people and wounding 17 more.

Also March 7th – Shabqadar, Pakistan – A Muslim fascist suicide bomber killed 17 innocent people at a courthouse and wounded at least 30 others.  Continue reading

OTHER WAYS AMERICAN LIBERALS ARE THE NEW RELIGIOUS RIGHT

Daniel Greenfield

Daniel Greenfield

Instead of my usual musings on the subject here’s yet another person (Daniel Greenfield) reflecting on the way 21st Century Liberalism (really illiberalism) is all about self-congratulations.

Intelligence to a modern liberal isn’t depth, it’s appearance. It isn’t even an intellectual quality, but a spiritual quality. Self-anointed compassionate people who care about others feel they are always ‘smarter’, no matter how stupid they might be, because they always talk about how much they care about the world around them.”

Obama and his audience mistake their orgy of mutual flattery for intelligence and depth … Liberalism isn’t really about making the world a better place. It’s about reassuring (themselves) that they are good people.”

How true, as I noted HERE

PELE AND HI’IAKA: EPIC OF HAWAII PART FIFTEEN

Kauai

Kauai

Balladeer’s Blog continues its examination of the grand and exciting Hawaiian epic about the goddesses Pele and Hi’iaka.

PART FIFTEEN

The goddess Hi’iaka continued her journey to the island of Kauai accompanied by the mortal woman Wahine. Their mission was to reach Prince Lohiau of Kauai and escort him back to the Big Island to marry Pele, the fire and volcano goddess. Little did Hi’iaka and Wahine know that the lovesick Lohiau, despairing because he missed Pele so much, had taken his own life weeks ago.

Continuing to cross the island of Oahu the traveling ladies reached Kehuohapu’u Bluff, where a rough shrine stood to the fish-god Ku’ula. From there they moved on to Ka’ena Point, the peninsula on the western coast of Oahu at the point closest to the island of Kauai. Ka’ena Point was the jumping-off point for the spirits of dead Hawaiians when they were ready to enter the land of the dead ruled by the goddess Milu.   Continue reading

LIBERALS AND CONSERVATIVES AND THE WORKING CLASS

SnobBalladeer’s Blog remains the only site on the web that equally criticizes American Liberals and Conservatives.

One thing I’ve learned from years around Liberals and Conservatives is that there is no longer any difference in the attitude that self-styled “upper crust” left-wingers and right-wingers display to the working class.

Financially comfortable Liberals are just as callous as any bloated rich pig Conservatives are to the plight of people who work for a living. That is especially true of Liberals who spend their lives in the prolonged adolescence of the “academic” world where they hide from the real world and reassure each other that they have “the one true world view” and that working class people are just “too stupid” to understand what’s best for them.

GODS OF WAR FROM AROUND THE WORLD

Cry havoc and let slip the gods of war! Had to be said. (And yes, I know it’s supposed to be dogs of war.) The Greek god of war Ares and his Roman counterpart Mars get most of the attention in pop culture. Balladeer’s Blog takes a look at some of the neglected war gods from around the world.

Iroquois Warrior

AIRESKOI

Pantheon: Iroquois

Lore: Aireskoi was identified with the Aurora Borealis. While other Iroquois souls would go to the conventional afterlife warriors slain in battle got to reside with Aireskoi in the heavens, their souls glowing with the grandeur of their battlefield heroics, thus accounting for the brightness of the Aurora Borealis.

Aireskoi was one of the gods who tried to woo the goddess Iagentci when she was carrying her Marriage Bread to the chief deity Hawenneyu. Aireskoi was also associated with fire since the Iroquois used fire to torture captives taken in wartime.  Continue reading
