NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – The top seeded HILLSDALE FREE WILL BAPTIST COLLEGE SAINTS did battle with the 3 seeds – the GRACE BIBLE COLLEGE TIGERS – for the NCCAA title. The 1st Half ended with the Saints holding a 43-35 lead but the Tigers came roaring back to force Overtime through a 77-77 tie to end Regulation. In the extra session Hillsdale thoroughly outperformed Grace and won the game 97-84. Trey Sneed led the Saints with 27 points and 9 rebounds and his teammate Antonio Wilson contributed 26 points of his own. * THE SAINTS ARE NCCAA2 CHAMPIONS *
*** NJCAA DIVISION THREE ***
NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – The top two seeds in this Tournament faced each other for the 2016 Championship. The 1 seeds – the ROCK VALLEY COLLEGE GOLDEN EAGLES – managed a slender 41-39 Halftime lead over the 2nd seeded ROCHESTER TECHNICAL COLLEGE YELLOW JACKETS. After the break the Golden Eagles steadily put more distance between themselves and the Yellow Jackets, ultimately winning by a score of 88-75. Rock Valley College was led to their second title in three years by L.T. Davis with 25 points. * THE GOLDEN EAGLES ARE NJCAA3 CHAMPIONS *

FINAL FOUR – FIRST BERTH – The 7 seeds – the INDIANA UNIVERSITY- EAST RED WOLVES – continued pulling off upsets yesterday in their game with the top seeded BRIAR CLIFF UNIVERSITY CHARGERS. Though the Red Wolves trailed the Chargers 43-40 at the Half they retained their composure and came from behind for an 83-81 victory. Lucas Huffman’s 31 points led IU-East in this game for the ages!
FINAL FOUR – SECOND BERTH – Meanwhile another 1 seed – the UNIVERSITY OF SAINT FRANCIS (IN) COUGARS – prevailed in their clash with the 3rd seeded KEISER UNIVERSITY SEAHAWKS. The Cougars seemed determined to make short work of the Seahawks, leading them 42-23 at Halftime and then coasting to an 80-53 triumph. The University of Saint Francis made the Final Four led by Evan Henry’s 18 points.
FINAL FOUR – THIRD BERTH – In another 1 seed over a 3 seed outcome the (1) DAVENPORT UNIVERSITY PANTHERS bounced the (3) WARNER UNIVERSITY ROYALS. The opening Half was a very tight affair, ending with the Panthers clinging to a slim 32-30 lead over the Royals. Davenport University came out of the locker room after the break and methodically pulled away from Warner University for a 77-60 win. Dominez Burnett led the Panthers with 21 points.
FINAL FOUR – LAST BERTH – Completing the 2016 Final Four was the victor of this clash between the 2 seeds – the INDIANA WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY WILDCATS – and the 8th seeded YORK (NE) COLLEGE PANTHERS. The Wildcats outscored the Panthers 55-30 in the 1st Half, then both teams put up 34 points in the 2nd Half. Lane Mahurin had 20 points to lead Indiana Wesleyan U to an 89-64 win.

FINAL FOUR – FIRST BERTH – The CHRISTOPHER NEWPORT UNIVERSITY CAPTAINS fought it out with the upstart COLLEGE OF WOOSTER SCOTS for this first slot in the 2016 Final Four. As expected the Captains dominated the Scots all the way through the game. When all was said and done in this contest Christopher Newport University advanced to the semifinals by a final score of 81-61.
FINAL FOUR – SECOND BERTH – Up next came a hardcourt clash between the AMHERST COLLEGE LORD JEFFS and the TUFTS UNIVERSITY JUMBOS. After an action-packed opening Half the Lord Jeffs led the Jumbos 40-35 at the break. From there the remainder of the game remained very tight until the final three minutes, when Amherst College exploded for an 86-73 triumph. Connor Green’s 25 points led the way for the Lord Jeffs.
FINAL FOUR – THIRD BERTH – The pair of teams facing each other in this battle were the UNIVERSITY OF SAINT THOMAS TOMMIES and the AUGUSTANA (IL) COLLEGE VIKINGS. The Tommies kept their memorable season going for at least one more round as they defeated the hard-fighting Vikings. The end result of the game was University of Saint Thomas 86 Augustana (IL) College 76.
FINAL FOUR – LAST BERTH – Completing the 2016 Final Four for the NCAA Division Three would be the winner of this clash between the BENEDICTINE UNIVERSITY EAGLES and the ALMA COLLEGE SCOTS. Benedictine University pretty much pushed Alma College around the court in this affair. The Eagles stayed on top of the Scots almost all the way, ultimately winning the game by a final tally of 93-73.
