PART SIXTEEN
In the restored village of Tubondo, with all the dead brought back to life by Mwindo it was at last time to pass judgment on the captured Shemwindo. In some versions of the Mwindo Epic the semidivine hero sits upon a throne made of spears as if deciding the fate of prisoners of war. Other versions claim Mwindo’s friend Nkuba the lightning god sent down copper chairs for Mwindo and his Aunt Iyangura to sit on while judging the former Chief Shemwindo.
Still other versions depict Iyangura’s husband Mukiti the river god sitting alongside Mwindo and Iyangura as they decide Shemwindo’s fate. Some versions claim the trio floated in the air in the copper chairs provided by Nkuba. Continue reading

You can have your Time Lord from Gallifrey or your reporter from INS. When it comes to REAL action against goofy monsters the one and only Scott Brady comes on like Jim Dandy to the rescue. The Pudgy One was always a welcome sight in B-movies from decades ago. Here are four of his most enjoyably bad outings.
DESTINATION INNER SPACE (1966) – In a true rarity Scott Brady got to be the less-than- hunky action lead in this film! THE Sheree North and The Green Hornet‘s Wende Wagner were along for the ride in this flick that plays like an episode from Jon Pertwee’s Doctor Who era recast with Americans.
Scott Brady portrays Commander Wayne, a courageous Naval Officer who might as well be working for UNIT as he saves the world from a potential invasion by a group of sub-aquatic extraterrestrials. The monsters are as ridiculous as the dialogue in this fair-to- middling gem. Continue reading

As a followup to my earlier list of The Top 12 Deities in Choctaw Mythology here’s a look at two additional figures from that same pantheon.
IMMA – The Choctaw goddess of war. Unlike most war deities Imma did not participate in actual combat herself, but was the idealized woman to whom Choctaw warriors dedicated all their battlefield heroics. She was the most beautiful goddess in the Choctaw pantheon and, like her husband, the hunting god Hatakachafa, Imma was originally a mortal raised to godhood in the afterlife by the supreme deity Nanishta. He did this after Imma died from grief after Hatakachafa was given up for dead during his year-long struggle to return home to her. When Imma’s true love at last returned home astride his giant white wolf and learned she was dead he too died of grief. The two were reunited in the afterlife as husband and wife.

Regular readers of Balladeer’s Blog know I’m not a Conservative but I always like to point out that that does NOT make me a Liberal. American Liberals are cowardly hypocrites, pompous snobs and hilariously pretentious asses. They’re also the ultimate imbeciles, as shown by their reaction to Friday’s Muslim attacks in Paris.
As always I waited hours before I posted anything, just to make absolutely sure it was Muslims behind the attacks and that credit was being claimed by the Islamic State spawned by Barack Obama’s premature withdrawal from Iraq. I always check out both Liberal AND Conservative websites because it’s the only way to get the whole picture.
Shortly after the attacks I felt a renewed contempt for American Liberals as I read the comments they were leaving on Huffpo, Salon and all the other sites that pander to irrational left-wing zealots. The overwhelming majority of the commentors were insisting the attacks could not POSSIBLY be by Muslim fanatics.
The Liberal buffoons were insisting the attacks in France must have been committed by … right-wing anti-environmentalists. No, I’m NOT joking. Liberals are so officially detached from reality that they fabricated a pack of right-wing fanatics wanting to attack Paris in advance of the Climate Summit. To them this was more reasonable than acknowledging that it might be yet another of the countless Muslim attacks that happen daily.
Let me emphasize that for overseas readers. Rational people were thinking “This could well be ANOTHER Muslim attack since they’re so prone to this type of violence but let’s wait for all the facts to make sure.” And while those rational people were thinking along those lines Liberal trash were harassing people making that rational observation and were instead pushing the notion that imaginary right-wing anti-environmentalists were behind the attacks. USCAA FOOTBALL CHAMPS – The first college football championship of the 2015 season has been decided. The WILLIAMSON COLLEGE OF THE TRADES MECHANICS were last season’s runners- up and this year are the National Champions in the USCAA (United States Collegiate Athletics Association). This year’s runners- up are the NEWPORT NEWS APPRENTICE SCHOOL BUILDERS. For that old-school feel there is no championship game in the USCAA, just standings.
UPSET IN THE TOP TEN – On a Saturday that was almost all-chalk there was only one upset of a team ranked in the Top Ten of the various four-year divisions covered here at Balladeer’s Blog. In NCAA Division Two the 11th ranked MIDWESTERN STATE MUSTANGS traveled to face the number 8 team in the nation – the TEXAS A&M AT COMMERCE LIONS. The semidivine hero Mwindo at last stood face to face with his evil father Shemwindo. After the villain had led his heroic son on a long chase through the various realms of the gods that honeycombed the subterranean region Mwindo finally had satisfaction.
There in the hut of the Nyanga creator deity Ongo the two adversaries eyed each other with the intense hostility born from prolonged conflict. Mwindo had bested Ongo at the Nyanga gambling game called Wiki and – as good as his word – the creator god had turned Shemwindo over to the victor. Continue reading
