For anyone who was unsure of which side they came down on in the issue of Freedom of Expression vs the religious superstitions of Islam the supreme jackass Bill O’Reilly has sided with Islam. He was joined by his fellow Right Wing Nut Job Laura “The Conservative  Pass-Around” Ingraham in saying religious superstition should outweigh freedom.  

Considering what a notorious ass O’Reilly is that should tell you all you need to know. This renewed debate broke out over the most recent example of Muslim savagery when two of the animals who practice that backward, homophobic and misogynistic faith tried to kill people in Garland, TX for drawing pictures of Muhammad, the blood-soaked child rapist who founded Islam.

People are foolish if they think this bizarre violation of Freedom of Expression would be used only in regard to Islam. As we have all seen over and over again if exceptions are made for one group those exceptions will spread like a fire. Soon the Christian Conservatives that are so loathed by the cowardly hypocrites of American Liberalism will be able to silence debate if the Muslim fanatics who frighten them get away with this.  Continue reading →

HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY! LOVE, GEORGE (1973) – Category: Bad movie elevated by kitsch value in the casting.

Directed by THE Darren McGavin and featuring his wife Kathie Browne in a small role, this hilariously bizarre film is also known as Run, Stranger, Run. “Run, Potential Viewer, Run” would be a more appropriate title. Happy Mother’s Day Love, George  (henceforth HMDLG) is often described as a psycho-sexual thriller but actually it is nothing more than a melodramatic soap opera with a few murders and VERY few scenes of blood and gore. STARSHIP INVASIONS (1977)

Starship InvasionsSTARSHIP INVASIONS (1977) – This Canadian venture (also released as Project Genocide) is a bad movie classic and I don’t know why I kept putting off reviewing it for so long. I’ve been in love with this baby ever since I first saw it long years ago.

It combines the campy fun of the old television series UFO with that of countless 1950’s and 1960’s “invasion of Earth” movies. The ridiculous uniforms of the aliens make it hard to stop laughing as you watch events unfold. They communicate telepathically (in voiceover for the benefit of viewers) so they never speak, which is another source of fun since their facial expressions never seem to change no matter how heated the telepathic conversations get.   

Our movie opens up with a UFO shooting a rather heavy Canadian farmer in an Elmer Fudd hat with a paralyzing ray, then abducting him. While in the aliens’ custody the farmer is confronted by one of his captors – a beautiful nude woman. The two have sex and return the farmer to his home, following which he tries to tell the authorities about his experience but they don’t believe him.   Continue reading →

MALDOROR 3:1 – THE MYSTERIOUS RIDERS

Balladeer’s Blog resumes its examination of the macabre 1868 French language work The Songs of Maldoror.

THE MYSTERIOUS RIDERS 

Mysterious HorsemenThis is the First Stanza of the Third Canto (3:1). It should be no surprise to anyone that Maldoror once again presents an image of himself that contradicts much of what he has previously told the reader. In this stanza he is the Angel of the Land and is forever in the company of his lover Mario, the Angel of the Sea. The two frequently ride their horses at incredible speed along the beaches of the world, tracing the shoreline of continents and inspiring hushed superstitious whispers from the fishermen who observe them speeding by.

The pair glory in each other’s company and share a regal disdain for the human race, dismissing the planet Earth as a “craggy chamberpot”. We are told that “unlimited chains of generations” have regarded the two lovers with unease since they often appear at times of war or disease. (Readers may remember previous hints Maldoror has given that he is one of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse biding his time until the end of the world arrives.) Maldoror and his companion are also often sighted flying in the air overhead as hurricanes unleash massive destruction.   Continue reading →

DRAW MUHAMMAD CONTEST: THE WINNING ENTRY

Regular readers of Balladeer’s Blog know I criticize ALL religions and consider them all to be mythology. I have no problems with either that old movie Jesus Christ: Serial Rapist or anybody showing whatever disrespect they want to Muhammad, the insane child rapist who founded Islam.

The winning entry in the Draw Muhammad Contest in Garland, TX got lost in all the furor. (And it’s always appropriate to use a word that sounds like “Fuhrer” when discussing Islam. And by the way, Godwin’s Law pussies don’t impress me, so don’t bother citing it.)

This was the winning entry and was drawn by Bosch Fawstin, a former Muslim. Kudos to him for the drawing AND for the fact that he refuses to do interviews with media cowards who are too frightened to show his winning entry.

If someone threatens to kill you just for doing something that offends their religion how can you NOT want to IMMEDIATELY commit the action they threatened you over? Human beings with a backbone quite rightly feel that way. Pathetic little cowards don’t.   Continue reading →

NORTH STAR ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION

Mayville State Comets BIGCHAMPIONSHIP SERIES – The top seeded MAYVILLE STATE COMETS had to face the Cinderella 6 seeds – the DICKINSON STATE BLUE HAWKS – for the NSAA Championship. The Comets were undefeated in tournament play, so even though the Blue Hawks surprised them in Game One by crushing them 10-1 all that did was force a decisive second game. In Game Two Mayville State converted a 1-0 1st Inning lead into a 3-1 edge in the 3rd and 7-1 in the 7th on their way to an 8-1 victory. MALDOROR 2:15 – THE CONQUEST OF CONSCIENCE

Balladeer’s Blog resumes its examination of the macabre 1868 French language work The Songs of Maldoror. The title character clashes with God directly again this time as well as with a flock of winged octopi.

THE CONQUEST OF CONSCIENCE

In this stanza the supernatural being Maldoror returns to the version of his past in which he is untold centuries old. Our insane narrator adopts and disgards these multiple personae like clothing selected to match his mood of the day.  

For people who obsess over continuity this stanza matches up well with And Now Men Fear You No More, in which Maldoror is supposedly one of the angels who remained neutral in the war between God and Lucifer. In that stanza our main character also takes credit for tutoring mankind in the ways of challenging God/The Demiurge through rational thought and counter-theology.    Continue reading →
