MALDOROR 4:5 – PROJECTION OF A SHRIVELED SILHOUETTE

Balladeer’s Blog resumes its examination of the macabre 1868 French language work The Songs of Maldoror. We’re now on the 4th Canto, 5th Stanza.

PROJECTION OF A SHRIVELED SILHOUETTE

Maldoror 4 5 bodiesMaldoror, in an even more unstable frame of mind than usual, finds himself in a run-down room in an unspecified building somewhere. He is wary because he has come face to face with another supernatural creature that he has identified as a potential threat. Every man, woman and child in the town is dead except for himself and this new entity, the figure responsible for the slaughter.

SPOILER: In our current age in which we’ve all grown up with anthology shows from Twilight Zone on up through Tales From the Crypt or any number of others we can spot the “twist” in this segment right away. Maldoror eventually becomes lucid enough to realize he’s arguing with his own reflection in a mirror. Since modern readers can spot that “surprise” a mile away I’ve disclosed the ending right up front and will now explore the deadly actions that Maldoror confesses to in this stanza.   Continue reading

CULT FILM: PIG (1998)

Pig (1998)PIG (1998) – This cult horror film was a joint project between the legendary Rozz Williams and Nico B. I’m about to commit cinematic blasphemy by pointing out that in my opinion this is one of the most overrated “art” films of all time. Maybe if Pig had come out before Luis Bunuel’s Un Chien Andalou from NINETEEN TWENTY-NINE it might deserve the praise heaped upon it.

As it is, though, not only has this film not stood up under the test of time but it’s even difficult to see why it was so acclaimed back in 1998. By then movies like Tetsuo and both Nekromantik flicks had already pushed past many boundaries that Pig doesn’t even approach, let alone challenge.

The film is in black & white and depicts a (sometimes) pig-masked serial killer who tortures his prey before killing them. His “calling card” of sorts is his habit of carving the word “PIG” on the bare chests of his victims. An obviously willing and masochistic male victim has a rendezvous with the serial killer and the pair travel to an abandoned, run-down house in the desert, numbered “1334” (the title of the sequel Nico B made years later).    Continue reading

OBAMA HAMMERED BY THE U.N. AND THE COURTS … YET AGAIN

Obama and the President he is the most similar to.

Obama and the President he is the most similar to.

Barack Obama is often called weak, inept and crooked. He’s also referred to as “the piece of dogshit stubbornly clinging to the bottom of history’s shoes.” The Mistake is another nickname for this most disastrously incompetent and dishonest of U.S. Presidents.

The U.N. has joined the chorus of voices calling out Little Barry for his corrupt antics. Their monitors have accused Obama and his administration of engaging in actively covering up repeated Iranian international violations. The motive seems to be Barry’s desperate desire to say he signed a treaty with Iran. Anything to try to justify the Nobel Peace Prize the Chicago demagogue was given his first months in office BEFORE HE HAD EVEN DONE ANYTHING!

The confused, uncomprehending face of utter incompetence.

The confused, uncomprehending face of utter incompetence.

As that undeserved Nobel Prize indicates, the global community has done everything to try to help this pathetic little man be a success as president but Obama’s only acts have been outrightly crooked or narrowly self-serving. I’ve covered them too many times already to rehash all of them right now.

Stateside, the many investigations into Obama’s criminal mismanagement of the Executive Branch are still going on. Federal Judges have shown the integrity that Congress lacks and have tried to check Barry’s unconstitutional abuses. The latest jurist to humiliate Obama was Judge Emmet Sullivan of the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia. Continue reading

A METRIC AMERICA (1978)

Presidential candidate Lincoln Chafee’s eccentric decision to make a nationwide switch to the Metric System the premier plank of his political platform put me in the mood for this VERY old 1970s Metric System educational short.

Here we go, and for more bad movie reviews click here: https://glitternight.com/bad-movies/

A METRIC AMERICA – (1978) – Category: A classically campy educational and/or safety short

In the late 1970s the notion that the United States was going to convert to the metric system by 1980 was being pushed.

This thought was causing a panic of almost Y2K proportions as government bodies and the Continue reading

MALDOROR 4:4 – FOUR CENTURIES ON A SHAPELESS THRONE

Balladeer’s Blog resumes its examination of the macabre 1868 French language work The Songs of Maldoror. People who want to see our vile main character suffer will definitely enjoy this part.

FOUR CENTURIES ON A SHAPELESS THRONE

This stanza opens up with Maldoror paralyzed and suffering a variety of excruciating torments. Like a wooden stake through the heart will take out a vampire and a silver bullet through the heart will kill a werewolf, Maldoror’s weakness is at last revealed to us.

While our supernatural protagonist was seated on a boulder contemplating his next move in the ongoing feud between him and God an unnamed human being crept up on him from behind and drove their sword downward through the nape of Maldoror’s neck and on, vertically, driving it through the fiend’s spine like a spike. This has rendered Maldoror paralyzed but happily (given his countless atrocities) NOT immune to pain.  Continue reading

JUNE WEDDING: MR FANTASTIC AND INVISIBLE GIRL

From October 1965

From October 1965

It’s June, the traditional month for weddings and since summertime is also the season for superhero movies I figured why not take a look at a superhero wedding. And since the movie reboot of the Fantastic Four will be coming out soon I’m going with the wedding of Mr Fantastic (Reed Richards) and Sue Storm (Invisible Girl then, Invisible Woman now).

The actual comic book in question was the October of 1965 issue of Fantastic Four Annual # 3 and it featured virtually all the superheroes and supervillains in the then-young Marvel Comics Universe. The heroes were guests invited to the wedding, Nick Fury and the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. were providing security for the event and the Fantastic Four’s arch-enemy Doctor Doom was mentally controlling the various supervillains into crashing the ceremony and trying to kill the heroes. Bedlam at the Baxter Building was the title.

MUSLIMS FILM MORE TORTURE AND KIDNAP 500 MORE CHILDREN

A SYMBOL OF HATRED, SLAVERY, MASS RAPE AND INFANTICIDE.

A SYMBOL OF HATRED, SLAVERY, MASS RAPE AND INFANTICIDE.

The Islamic State, spawned by Barack Obama’s premature withdrawal from Iraq, recently filmed the torture of a 14 year old Syrian boy and also seized 500 more children with the stated intention of using them as suicide bombers.

The Islamic State also announced its intentions to enter the U.S. via our forever-unguarded southern border and inflict nuclear sabotage on the United States. They can, after all, remain confident that American Liberals will cheer on such an action and go on defending Muslim fanatics no matter what the death toll is. I’ll never be a conservative but the cowardly hypocrisy of American Liberals toward Islam has made me ashamed that I EVER used to consider myself a Liberal. Continue reading
