Yesterday was Day 2 for the USCAA. The 3rd seeded CLERMONT COUGARS handed Day One’s upset darlings, the (7) LU-BELLEVILLE LYNX, their first loss of this year’s College World Series. The Cougars doubled-up on the Lynx, defeating them by a final score of 6-3 yesterday.

Yesterday was Day One of the College World Series in the USCAA (United States Collegiate Athletic Association). Spalding, the 2012 champions, did not make the World Series field of 10 teams this year so there will definitely be a new title holder when all is said and done.
The top seeds, the NEWPORT NEWS APPRENTICE SCHOOL BUILDERS, had their hands full with the 9th seeded BRIARCLIFFE COLLEGE BULLDOGS. The Bulldogs are no strangers to the postseason and took the 2011 World Series championship in the USCAA. The Builders took them down in a 2-1 Instant Classic.

ENGINEERS DO IT WITH SLIDE-RULES – The unranked ROSE-HULMAN INSTITUTE ENGINEERS managed a split with the number 9 MANCHESTER SPARTANS yesterday. The Engineers doubled-up on the Spartans by a score of 6-3 in the first game but the Spartans turned the tables on them in the second game, crushing them 10-1. Believe it or not this was the only upset in the Top 25 in yesterday’s action!

Today marks day 1 of the College World Series for the USCAA, which stands for the United States Collegiate Athletic Association. The USCAA format features a 10 team field playing in a double elimination tournament to determine the championship.
The Southern Virginia University Knights (logo at top left), a team from a terrific Mormon institution, were last year’s runners- up to the Briarcliffe Bulldogs. The Dallas Christian College Crusaders (logo at left) won the Southwest Region on Saturday, filling the final automatic berth in the NCCAA2 World Series. Here’s a look at the seedings for all 8 teams in the event. Meanwhile, the USCAA’s 10 team field for their World Series has also been finalized.
