Today marks day 1 of the College World Series for the USCAA, which stands for the United States Collegiate Athletic Association. The USCAA format features a 10 team field playing in a double elimination tournament to determine the championship.
The Southern Virginia University Knights (logo at top left), a team from a terrific Mormon institution, were last year’s runners- up to the Briarcliffe Bulldogs. Today they took care of business against the Clark State Eagles. The games are still being played, so check back to Balladeer’s Blog for score updates throughout the day.
(5) SVU Knights UPSET the (4) Clark State Eagles 10-0 (Slaughter Rule invoked after 6 innings) *** (8) Selma University Bulldogs over the (9) Penn Tech Wildcats 8-4 *** (3) Rochester College Warriors came back from 3-1 to defeat the (6) Mont Alto Nittany Lions 4-3 *** (1) Spalding Golden Eagles over the (8) Selma Bulldogs 9-3 *** (7) PSUB Nittany Beavers (as I jokingly call them to distinguish them from PSU- Mont Alto ) over the (10) RMUS Eagles in a game where pitching was apparently optional. 15-13 was the final score
The Builder will win it all next year! I am predicting it early!
We will see next year I guess!
I love SVU!
They are pretty damn cool!
