Balladeer’s Blog continues its poem by poem examination of the 1868 French language work The Songs of Maldoror by Isidore Ducasse, the self-titled Count de Lautreamont.
AN INSATIABLE THIRST FOR THE INFINITE
This section begins with Maldoror wandering through the darkness of the night, at times nostalgically recalling the terror and dread with which he used to regard the sounds and distant impressions of the overnight hours. But that was when he was merely a human child and his mother would try to calm him as he huddled beneath his blankets listening fearfully to the savage or vaguely sinister sounds made by the beasts who roam the night.
She would explain away the horror of the distant noises by assuring him that the beasts meant no harm, but were instead filled with an insatiable thirst for the infinite, the same thirst she sensed in the son she was trying to comfort.
Now, fully grown and more than human, Maldoror prowls the night as one of the beasts making noises that terrify others in their beds. Supreme in his element our narrator blissfully describes some of the nightly tableaus that catch his attention. Continue reading

TALES OF SUSPENSE Vol 1 #39 (March 1963)
Balladeer’s Blog presents a look at some recent good news as we prepare for the weekend to kick off. Once again Democrats (House Harkonnen) tried to damage the working class and the poor by obstructing de facto Third Party President Donald Trump’s economic measures. Trump outmaneuvered them and signed Executive Orders to extend the federal bonus on Unemployment Benefits and to suspend payroll taxes, adding to the take-home pay of countless employees.
Take-home pay means a lot to the working class but means nothing to most career politicians, who snobbishly look down on the poor and working class. President Trump has done more to help the working class and the poor than any other president of my lifetime. That’s one reason why so many Democrat and Republican office-holders oppose him.
Regular readers of Balladeer’s Blog are familiar with my fondness for laughably bad movies. Vito Gesualdi at YT is one of the funniest and most irreverent critics to be found. I would recommend any of his reviews but for newbies I can tell you he does what may be THE funniest takedown of the disastrous Rise of Skywalker.

It’s no secret that Democrats believe that ONLY people of color who preach hatred of police are the “authentic voices” of the African American community. The recent Gallup poll emphasized how far wrong those divisive Democrats are. EIGHTY PERCENT (81% in other polls) of the black people polled do NOT agree with the Privileged White Democrat Saviors who assume that they all have a criminal’s fear of police. (Link is below)
