FINAL TWO COLLEGE BASEBALL CHAMPIONS OF 2017

*** NCAA DIVISION TWO ***

West Chester University Golden Rams LogoCHAMPIONSHIP GAME: The WEST CHESTER UNIVERSITY GOLDEN RAMS and the UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA AT SAN DIEGO TRITONS were the last two teams standing in the D2 World Series. After the Golden Rams grabbed a quick 1-0 edge in the 1st Inning the Tritons responded by tying the score at 1-1 in the 2nd.

The 3rd Inning saw West Chester University go back on top by a count of 2-1 and this time it took the pursuing UC-San Diego all the way til the 6th Inning to knot up the score at 2-2. The Golden Rams drove in 1 more run in the 7th Inning and 2 more in the 8th for a 5-2 victory for Pitcher Josh McClain. * THE GOLDEN RAMS ARE CHAMPIONS OF NCAA DIVISION TWO * Continue reading

COLLEGE BASEBALL: ANOTHER CHAMPION CROWNED WHILE OTHER SERIES CONTINUE

*** NJCAA DIVISION ONE ***

Chipola College logo BIGCHAMPIONSHIP GAME: The CHIPOLA COLLEGE INDIANS and the SAN JACINTO-NORTH COLLEGE GATORS fought it out for the NJCAA title. The favored Gators started out with a 1-0 1st Inning edge that became 2-1 in the 2nd.

The Indians continued chasing San Jacinto-North College, trailing them 4-3 in the 4th Inning and 5-4 in the 5th before overtaking them for a 7-5 lead in the 6th. From there Chipola College slammed in 4 more runs each in the 7th and 9th Innings to the lone run scored by the Gators. The Indians took the crown by a final tally of FIFTEEN to SIX behind Pitcher Ryan Shauger. * THE INDIANS ARE CHAMPIONS OF NJCAA DIVISION ONE Continue reading

TWO MORE COLLEGE BASEBALL CHAMPS CROWNED PLUS MORE WORLD SERIES ACTION

*** NAIA ***

LCSC Logo - Primary FullCHAMPIONSHIP GAME: The Defending National Champions – the 5th seeded LEWIS- CLARK STATE WARRIORS – battled the 2 seeds – the FAULKNER UNIVERSITY EAGLES for the title. Runs were flying in the 1st Inning, which ended with the Warriors on top of the Eagles 3-2.

In the 2nd Inning Faulkner University knotted up the score at 3-3 and then proceeded to grab a 4-3 edge in the 4th. The 6th Inning saw Lewis-Clark State tie the game 4-4 before going back on top 6-4 in the 7th. The Warriors rode that 2-run advantage all the way to their THIRD National Championship in a row! Daulton Blackwell pitched for the 6-4 win. * THE WARRIORS ARE CHAMPIONS OF NAIA BASEBALL

*** NJCAA DIVISION TWO ***

CHAMPIONSHIP GAME: The 7 seeds – the KANKAKEE COLLEGE CAVALIERS – faced the 4th seeded MERCER COUNTY COLLEGE VIKINGS for the NJCAA-2 crown. The Vikings started off well, leading the Cavaliers 2-0 in the 1st Inning and 2-1 in the 2nd.

Kankakee College made their move in the 4th Inning by seizing an EIGHT to 2 advantage. Mercer County College pulled to within 8-5 in the 6th but no closer. The Cavaliers added a few insurance runs for an ELEVEN to FIVE final tally. Colton Carr was the winning Pitcher. * THE CAVALIERS ARE CHAMPIONS OF NJCAA DIVISION TWO * Continue reading

MORE COLLEGE WORLD SERIES RESULTS

*** NAIA ***

Faulkner University Eagles logo - betterPENULTIMATE GAME: The 2nd seeded FAULKNER UNIVERSITY EAGLES needed to defeat the 5 seeds – the LEWIS-CLARK STATE WARRIORS – in order to force a deciding game the next day. A 1-0 1st Inning lead for the Eagles stood unchanged until the 4th, when it became a 2-1 advantage. The Warriors responded with a huge 5th Inning which saw them take the lead by a score of 5-2. Faulkner University shut out Lewis-Clark State from there while cutting their lead down to 5-3 in the 6th Inning and 5-4 in the 8th. The Eagles drove in 2 runs in the 9th for a 6-5 victory behind the pitching of Austin Moreland.  

*** NCAA DIVISION TWO ***

uc-sandiegotritonsDAY SIX, FIRST SEMIFINAL: The UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA AT SAN DIEGO TRITONS took the diamond against the SAINT THOMAS AQUINAS COLLEGE SPARTANS. After a scoreless 1st Inning the Tritons grabbed a 2-0 edge in the 2nd and a 4-0 advantage in the 3rd. That set the pattern for the game as UC-San Diego scored in every remaining Inning except the 8th while simultaneously shutting out the Spartans. The Tritons eviscerated their opponents to the tune of TEN to NOTHING courtesy of a complete Iron Man Game by Pitcher Kyle Goodbrand.   Continue reading

… AND ANOTHER COLLEGE BASEBALL CHAMPION DECIDED PLUS MORE

*** NJCAA DIVISION THREE ***

Tyler College Apaches BIGGERCHAMPIONSHIP GAME: The final two teams left standing in NJCAA D3 were the 3-time Defending National Champions – the TYLER COLLEGE APACHES – and the NIAGARA COUNTY COLLEGE THUNDER WOLVES.

The Apaches seized a 3-0 advantage in the 1st Inning. In the 3rd the Thunder Wolves cut that lead to just 3-1 but Tyler College recouped that run in the 4th, making it a 4-1 game. A Pitcher’s Duel commenced, ending with another Apache run in the 8th Inning to win their FOURTH title in a row, this one by a 5-1 score! Aberie Hiebert threw for the W.      * THE APACHES ARE CHAMPIONS OF NJCAA DIVISION THREE

*** NAIA ***

Faulkner University Eagles logo - betterDAY FIVE, FIRST SEMIFINAL: This game pitted the 2nd seeded FAULKNER UNIVERSITY EAGLES against the top seed – the OKLAHOMA CITY UNIVERSITY STARS. The Eagles played a long game of accumulating runs, leading 2-0 in the 1st Inning, 3-0 in the 2nd and 4-0 in the 4th. Faulkner University drove in their last run in the 5th Inning, while the Stars didn’t get on the board until the 8th, scoring 3 runs of their own. The Eagles held on for a 5-3 victory behind Pitcher Ivan Pelaez. Continue reading

COLLEGE WORLD SERIES: ANOTHER CHAMPION CROWNED WHILE OTHER SERIES CONTINUE

*** NCAA DIVISION THREE ***

cal lutheran kingsmen logoCHAMPIONSHIP GAME: The 3 seeds – the CALIFORNIA LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY KINGSMEN – and the 5th seeded WASHINGTON & JEFFERSON COLLEGE PRESIDENTS were tied up at 1 game apiece headed into this decisive Game Three.

After 2 scoreless Innings the Kingsmen went on top 2-0 in the 3rd. The Presidents fought back to make it a 3-1 game in the 4th Inning and 3-2 to end the 5th. Cal Lutheran University shut out their opponents for the next few Innings while tacking on another run of their own in the 7th and 3 more in the 8th. Washington & Jefferson College could only muster 1 run in the 9th Inning as the Kingsmen took the title with a 7-3 victory. Scott Roberts threw for the win. * THE KINGSMEN ARE CHAMPIONS OF NCAA DIVISION THREE

William Carey CrusadersDAY FOUR, GAME ONE: The 9th seeded WILLIAM CAREY UNIVERSITY CRUSADERS continued their Cinderella run, this time against the 6 seeds – the MISSOURI BAPTIST UNIVERSITY SPARTANS. The Crusaders immediately seized a 2-0 edge in the 1st Inning, followed by the Spartans making it a 2-1 score in the 3rd. William Carey University drove in 3 runs in the 4th Inning and SIX in the 5th on their way to a resounding TWELVE to THREE triumph. Pitcher Cole Edgins picked up the win.   Continue reading

COLLEGE WORLD SERIES CONTINUE IN THE NAIA, NJCAA AND NCAA

William Carey CrusadersDAY THREE, GAME ONE: This elimination game pitted the 9th seeded WILLIAM CAREY UNIVERSITY CRUSADERS against the 7 seeds – the UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE AND ARTS OF OKLAHOMA DROVERS. After the Crusaders notched a quick 1-0 lead in the 1st Inning the Drovers took a 5-1 lead in the 2nd. As it turned out, they would not score again. William Carey University cut the USAO lead to 5-2 in the 3rd Inning and then a lengthy Pitcher’s Duel ensued. Finally, in the 9th Inning the Crusaders drove in 4 more runs for a 6-5 victory. Pitcher Braden Smith got the win.

Master's College Mustangs logoDAY THREE, GAME TWO: Another elimination game and another upset followed. The 10 seeds – THE MASTER’S UNIVERSITY MUSTANGS – did battle with the 4th seeded KEISER UNIVERSITY SEAHAWKS. Neither team scored until the 4th Inning, when the Seahawks eked out a 2-1 edge. The Mustangs added 4 more runs in the 5th and 6th Innings before their bats went as cold as Keiser’s. The Master’s University smacked down the Seahawks by a score of 9-2 behind the pitching of Robert Winslow. Continue reading

COLLEGE WORLD SERIES RESULTS: NCCAA, NJCAA AND NCAA

THE NAIA HAD A DAY OFF, SO THEIR SCORES RESUME TOMORROW.

*** NCCAA ***

Oklahoma Baptist University Bison BIGCHAMPIONSHIP GAME: The top seeded OKLAHOMA BAPTIST UNIVERSITY BISON and the 5 seeds – the CAMPBELLSVILLE UNIVERSITY TIGERS – were the last two teams standing in the NCCAA (National Christian College Athletic Association). After a scoreless 1st Inning the Tigers went up 2-0 in the 2nd but the Bison cut that to a 2-1 edge in the 3rd.

The score was 3-2 with Campbellsville University on top to end the 4th Inning and the 5th saw the Tigers extend their lead to 6-2. Oklahoma Baptist University fought their way back to within 6-4 in the 6th and by the end of the 8th had knotted things up at 6-6. The 9th Inning ended in the same score but in the TENTH INNING the Bison won it 7-6. Tyler Gibson pitched for the win. * THE BISON ARE CHAMPIONS OF NCCAA BASEBALL

*** NCAA DIVISION TWO ***

Colorado Mesa University Mavericks logoDAY TWO, GAME ONE: The COLORADO MESA UNIVERSITY MAVERICKS played the QUINCY UNIVERSITY HAWKS to start the 2nd day in the D2 World Series. The first 3 Innings were a Pitcher’s Duel with neither team scoring but the 4th ended with the Mavericks on top 2-1. The Hawks pulled ahead 3-2 in the 6th followed by Colorado Mesa University exploding in the 7th for 5 runs. It was all but over from there as the Mavericks took the game by a tally of 10-3 behind Pitcher Tyler Day. Continue reading

COLLEGE WORLD SERIES RESULTS: NAIA, NCCAA, NJCAA AND NCAA

*** NCCAA ***

Oklahoma Baptist University Bison BIGDAY FOUR, FIRST SEMIFINAL: The top seeds – the OKLAHOMA BAPTIST UNIVERSITY BISON – did battle with the 2nd seeded EMMANUEL COLLEGE LIONS. The Lions managed a 1-0 1st Inning lead but the Bison knotted things up at 1-1 in the 2nd. After a scoreless 3rd Inning the 4th saw Oklahoma Baptist University take a comfortable 5-1 advantage. That turned into a 7-1 lead in the 5th enroute to a 9-2 smackdown win for the Bison and Pitcher Carson McPherson.

Campbellsville Tigers logoDAY FOUR, SECOND SEMIFINAL: The two teams fighting for the other berth in the title game were the 5th seeded CAMPBELLSVILLE UNIVERSITY TIGERS and the 6 seeds – the SOUTHWESTERN CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY EAGLES. Neither team scored in the 1st Inning but in the 2nd the Tigers eked out a 1-0 edge. It was a Pitcher’s Duel for awhile from there, but the 6th Inning saw the Eagles climb on top 3-1. Cambellsville University pulled to within 3-2 in the top of the 8th but in their at-bat Southwestern Christian University made it a 4-2 game. In the 9th Inning the Tigers drove in 3 more runs for a 5-4 victory. Nick “Mister” Przybylek threw for the win.  Continue reading

COLLEGE WORLD SERIES RESULTS FROM THE NAIA AND NCCAA

Master's College Mustangs logoDAY ONE, GAME ONE: Starting things off for the NAIA was this game between the 10th seeded MASTER’S UNIVERSITY MUSTANGS and the 7 seeds – the UNIVERSITY OF SCIENCE AND ARTS OF OKLAHOMA DROVERS. After a scoreless 1st Inning the Mustangs piled up a 4-0 advantage in the 2nd. By the 4th Inning the Drovers were still chasing The Master’s University in a 5-3 game. The Mustangs accumulated 2 more runs along the way for a 7-3 upset win. Pitcher Jason Karkenny got the W. 

Missouri Baptist University SpartansDAY ONE, GAME TWO: This game pitted the 6 seeds – the MISSOURI BAPTIST UNIVERSITY SPARTANS – against the 3rd seeded OKLAHOMA WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY EAGLES. Neither team scored until the 3rd Inning, when the Spartans grabbed a 4-0 lead. The Eagles cut it to a 4-3 score by the end of the 4th Inning but produced no more runs. Missouri Baptist University added 1 more in the 5th and rode that to a 5-3 upset of Oklahoma Wesleyan University. Michael Syrett threw for the win. Continue reading
