COLLEGE WORLD SERIES: ANOTHER CHAMPION CROWNED WHILE OTHER SERIES CONTINUE

*** NCAA DIVISION THREE ***

cal lutheran kingsmen logoCHAMPIONSHIP GAME: The 3 seeds – the CALIFORNIA LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY KINGSMEN – and the 5th seeded WASHINGTON & JEFFERSON COLLEGE PRESIDENTS were tied up at 1 game apiece headed into this decisive Game Three.

After 2 scoreless Innings the Kingsmen went on top 2-0 in the 3rd. The Presidents fought back to make it a 3-1 game in the 4th Inning and 3-2 to end the 5th. Cal Lutheran University shut out their opponents for the next few Innings while tacking on another run of their own in the 7th and 3 more in the 8th. Washington & Jefferson College could only muster 1 run in the 9th Inning as the Kingsmen took the title with a 7-3 victory. Scott Roberts threw for the win. * THE KINGSMEN ARE CHAMPIONS OF NCAA DIVISION THREE

*** NAIA ***

William Carey CrusadersDAY FOUR, GAME ONE: The 9th seeded WILLIAM CAREY UNIVERSITY CRUSADERS continued their Cinderella run, this time against the 6 seeds – the MISSOURI BAPTIST UNIVERSITY SPARTANS. The Crusaders immediately seized a 2-0 edge in the 1st Inning, followed by the Spartans making it a 2-1 score in the 3rd. William Carey University drove in 3 runs in the 4th Inning and SIX in the 5th on their way to a resounding TWELVE to THREE triumph. Pitcher Cole Edgins picked up the win.  

oklahoma city university starsDAY FOUR, GAME TWO: Up next the top seeds – the OKLAHOMA CITY UNIVERSITY STARS – did battle with the 10th seeded MASTER’S UNIVERSITY MUSTANGS. The Stars never really let the Mustangs in this game and by the 3rd Inning had compiled a 10-1 lead. That set the pattern for the rest of the game as Oklahoma City University proceeded to make The Master’s University their prison brides. Roberto Delgado pitched for the Stars’ SIXTEEN to FIVE win.

LCSC Logo - Primary FullDAY FOUR, GAME THREE: Closing out Day Four was this clash between the Defending National Champions – the 5th seeded LEWIS-CLARK STATE WARRIORS – and the 2 seeds – the FAULKNER UNIVERSITY EAGLES (should be the Furies). Neither team scored in the 1st Inning, but an action-packed 2nd ended with the Eagles on top 3-2. A huge 3rd Inning for the Warriors made it a 7-3 game in their favor and they added another run in the 6th. Faulkner University drove in 3 more runs in the 8th, meaning Lewis-Clark State won the game by a score of 8-6. Matt Fish was on the mound for the Warriors.

*** NCAA DIVISION TWO ***

uc-sandiegotritonsDAY FOUR, GAME ONE: The UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA AT SAN DIEGO TRITONS got things started with their game against the QUINCY UNIVERSITY HAWKS. A 1-1 1st Inning tie became a 6-1 lead for the Hawks in the 3rd. The Tritons had an enormous SIX RUN 4th Inning to knot things up at 7-7. Quincy University went back on top 8-7 in the 5th Inning only to see UC-San Diego retake the lead in the 6th by a count of 9-8. The Tritons tacked on an insurance run in the 8th for a 10-8 victory behind the pitching of Preston Mott.  

Saint Thomas Aquinas SpartansDAY FOUR, GAME TWO: The curtain was wrung down on the 4th day in D2 by the SAINT THOMAS AQUINAS COLLEGE SPARTANS and the COLORADO MESA UNIVERSITY MAVERICKS. This was a Pitcher’s Duel in which neither team scored until the 5th Inning, when the Mavericks eked out a 1-0 edge. The Spartans responded with a run of their own in the 7th Inning and Regulation ended in that same 1-1 tie. In the TENTH INNING St Thomas Aquinas College emerged with a 3-2 win. Chris Pennell was the triumphant Pitcher.

  2. I was hoping William Carey University would win it all this year.
