LATEST COLLEGE WORLD SERIES RESULTS

* NCAA DIVISION THREE *

Cortland State Red Dragons logoCHAMPIONSHIP SERIES – The CORTLAND STATE RED DRAGONS won Game One of the 2015 World Series in D3 in commanding style. First up the UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN AT LACROSSE EAGLES fought the TRINITY (TX) UNIVERSITY TIGERS for the right to play the Red Dragons. The Eagles won a 10-7 affair to advance to the title series.

Cortland State parlayed a 2-0 1st Inning lead into a 5-0 advantage in the 2nd on their way to an ELEVEN to THREE rout of UW-Lacrossse. Pitcher Brandon McClain got the win. Game Two in the best of 3 series comes next.

St Thomas (Fl) Bobcats logoDAY FOUR – GAME ONE – The Cinderella 9 seeds – The SAINT THOMAS (FL) UNIVERSITY BOBCATS – are still dancing after eliminating the top seeded OKLAHOMA BAPTIST UNIVERSITY BISON. The Bobcats were on top most of the way, leading 1-0 in the 1st Inning, 3-0 in the 4th and 4-0 in the 5th. The Bison notched 1 run in the 6th Inning and 3 more in the top of the 9th to tie the score at 4-4. In the bottom of the 9th St Thomas University knocked in a run to win the game 5-4. COLLEGE WORLD SERIES ACTION CONTINUES

St Thomas (Fl) Bobcats logoDAY THREE – GAME ONE – This elimination game pitted the 9th seeded SAINT THOMAS (FL) UNIVERSITY BOBCATS against the 10 seeds – the VANGUARD UNIVERSITY LIONS. The Bobcats seized a 3-0 lead in the 1st Inning and made it a 5-3 lead in the 3rd. Saint Thomas University let a 9-4 5th Inning lead slip away and the score stood at 10-10 when the Lions were done batting in the top of the 8th. The Bobcats slammed in 4 runs in their half of the Inning and rode them to a 14-10 victory. Chris Rodriguez got credit for the win. Continue reading

As always Memorial Day Weekend is to College Baseball what March is to College Basketball. Here are the latest scores.

* NCAA DIVISION TWO *

Mercyhurst University Lakers logoDAY TWO – GAME ONE – Starting off the day in D2 World Series play was this battle between the MERCYHURST UNIVERSITY LAKERS and the TRUMAN STATE BULLDOGS. After a scoreless 1st Inning the Lakers grabbed a 1-0 edge over the Bulldogs in the 2nd. In the 5th Inning Truman State tied the game at 1-1 and that is where things remained deadlocked until the ELEVENTH Inning when Mercyhurst University knocked in 2 runs, then shut out the Bulldogs for a 3-1 victory. COLLEGE WORLD SERIES ACTION IN THE NAIA, NCCAA, D2, D3 AND NJCAA

* NCCAA *

fresno pacific sunbirdsCHAMPIONSHIP GAME – The top seeded Defending Champions – the FRESNO PACIFIC UNIVERSITY SUNBIRDS – battled the 2nd seeded LEE UNIVERSITY FLAMES for the NCCAA crown. Neither team scored in the 1st Inning but the Sunbirds managed a 1-0 edge in the 2nd. That became a 3-0 lead in the 3rd Inning and 3-1 in the 4th when the Flames got on the board. In the 5th Inning Fresno Pacific University put up 3 more runs and rode those the rest of the way to a 6-2 victory. Vanguard U LionsDAY ONE – GAME ONE – The 10 seeds – the VANGUARD UNIVERSITY LIONS – started the day against the 7th seeded LINDSEY WILSON COLLEGE BLUE RAIDERS. In the 4th Inning the Lions took a 1-0 lead then followed that up in the 8th Inning with 2 runs to the 1 notched by the Blue Raiders. The final score was Vanguard University 3  Lindsey Wilson College 1. Pitcher Sean Isaac went 9 Iron Man Innings for the Lions. Continue reading

NCCAA WORLD SERIES: THE LATEST RESULTS

* NCCAA WORLD SERIES *

PalmBeachatlanticSailfishDAY ONE – GAME ONE – This game pitted the 4 seeds – the PALM BEACH ATLANTIC UNIVERSITY SAILFISH – against the 5th seeded CENTRAL BAPTIST COLLEGE MUSTANGS. The Sailfish seized a 5-0 lead in the 1st Inning then doubled that to a 10-0 lead in the 2nd. From there Palm Beach Atlantic University never looked back, ultimately thrashing the Mustangs by a score of SIXTEEN to TWO! Pitcher Josh Turner got the win. Continue reading

Sumter Fire AntsEASTERN DISTRICT – CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – The UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH CAROLINA AT SUMTER FIRE ANTS took on the POTOMAC STATE CATAMOUNTS for this District’s crown. The Fire Ants won a 4-2 nailbiter to become the FIRST University of South Carolina system institution to make the National Tournament. USCAA WORLD SERIES CHAMPS CROWNED AND MORE COLLEGE BASEBALL ACTION

newportnewsapprentice-school-builderCHAMPIONSHIP SERIES – Yesterday the 5th seeded NEWPORT NEWS APPRENTICE SCHOOL BUILDERS won their first National Championship in baseball since 2007. They did it in style, too, by winning THREE games in one day!

GAME ONE – The (5) Builders faced the 2nd seeded PENN STATE AT GREATER ALLEGHENY NITTANY LIONS in this game. A 1-0 1st Inning lead for NNAS became a 3-0 advantage in the 4th and 3-1 in the 5th. The Builders added another run in the 7th Inning for a 4-1 victory with Taylor Gomer on the mound.   Continue reading

USCAA WORLD SERIES AND OTHER COLLEGE BASEBALL ACTION

newportnewsapprentice-school-builderDAY THREE – GAME ONE – In this game the 5 seeds – the NEWPORT NEWS APPRENTICE SCHOOL BUILDERS – took the diamond against the 6th seeded COLLEGE OF SAINT JOSEPH’S (sic) FIGHTING SAINTS. The Builders had hot bats very early and by the end of the 1st Inning led 5-0, then rode that advantage all the way to a 5-2 victory.
