Okay, as always here at Independent Voter site Balladeer’s Blog I find it humbling when overseas readers pay me the compliment of asking me to explain, in non-partisan terms, the cesspool of corruption called America’s political system. In this case, the absurd notion that the events of January 6th, 2021 were “an insurrection” (LMAO). I will address other recent events tomorrow or so, but today it’s just about January 6th.
ONE: ABSOLUTELY NOTHING THAT COULD HAVE HAPPENED THAT DAY WOULD HAVE SOMEHOW MADE DONALD TRUMP THE WINNER OF THE 2020 PRESIDENTIAL ELECTION. This is crucial. It doesn’t matter if you support Trump or hate him, NOTHING that might have happened in Congress on January 6th could have “overturned the 2020 election.”
The members of Congress who opposed certifying the results were citing the need for further investigation of election results that day – as Democrat members of Congress did after Donald Trump’s election in 2016. In the Democrats’ case it was over their long-disproven claims of Russian Collusion/ Russian Interference. (But at least Democrats got to conduct ENDLESS investigations of their claims in the years ahead.)
TWO: THE REPUBLICANS DID NOT HAVE THE VOTES TO PREVENT CERTIFYING THE ELECTION RESULTS. Just as the Congressional Democrats did not have the votes to block certification in January 2017 against Trump, Congressional Republicans did not have the votes to block certification on January 6th 2021.
Even if there were no protests and arrests, January 6th would have ended the same way it did – without enough votes to send election results back to the states with suspect results for further investigation, pro-Trump Congressional reps would have been outvoted and the 2020 election results WOULD HAVE BEEN CERTIFIED ANYWAY.
And, if you’ll recall that IS what happened anyway once the protesters were removed. The interruption was followed by the majority refusal to permit pro-Trump representatives from citing their reasons for doubting the 2020 results, as the Democrats had been granted the courtesy of citing their doubts regarding Trump’s election in 2016.
So, it’s amazing that those first two items even have to be clarified at this late date and it reflects on America’s joke of an educational system (LMAO) that so many adults do not understand our country’s own procedures.
But, to recap – NOTHING could have happened that day to declare Trump the winner of the 2020 election. Even if the Republicans raising questions about the election results had had the votes (which they didn’t), those results would have just been sent back to the states for further investigation.
THREE: THERE IS NO WAY TRUMP COULD HAVE JUST REFUSED TO LEAVE OFFICE. The many, many staff members needed to keep a presidential administration running had already tendered their resignations, as is customary.
This is one of the silliest claims by the anti-Trump people. Do they think running the United States is like running a family diner? Do they imagine that Trump could have just figuratively said “Melania, you bus the tables, Don Junior, you do the cooking, Jared, you work the counter!”
FOUR: THERE IS NO EVIDENCE THAT TRUMP WAS PURSUING ANY EXTRA-LEGAL MEANS OF REMAINING IN OFFICE. The Democrats held exhaustive hearings about the events of January 6th, 2021 and found no evidence of a “coup” (as Democrats were already calling it) – even with the Democrats blocking minority party assignments to the committee in order to select anti-Trump Republicans instead – and even with them NOT ALLOWING TRUMP’S LEGAL TEAM TO INTERROGATE WITNESSES OR PRESENT ANY EVIDENCE OF THEIR OWN.
That’s not an investigation, that’s a kangaroo court. And yet, the anti-Trump forces STILL could not produce any evidence that he was planning a takeover. Given the absurd charges that Democrats HAVE been taking Trump to court over, does ANY reasonable person believe that if there was proof that Trump had been running such a conspiracy that Democrats would not have produced it or leaked it to the media long before now?
It certainly appears that anti-Trump forces simply keep alive the “insurrection” (LMAO) myth in order to keep Trump in court. “The process is the punishment” as the old saying goes, and they are counting on legal proceedings – especially any appeals – dragging on long enough to prevent Trump from winning in 2024. The end result will no doubt be vindication for Trump, as in all the other unfounded accusations against him, but by then it will be far too late regarding the next election. Continue reading

That brings us back to Hurricane Nell, the Girl Dead-Shot, also known as Hurricane Nell, the Queen of the Saddle and Lasso, and, in a misleading re-titling, as Bob Woolf, the Border Ruffian. (NOT three separate books.) Though published in May of 1877, Nell’s adventures were set earlier in the 1800s than most of the other big-name heroines of Dime Novels, so I am starting with her and will move on to the others in the next few weeks. 
NEW YORK DEMOCRAT ERIC SCHNEIDERMAN GOES DOWN IN FLAMES – Karmic cautionary tale about this politician who was being mindlessly praised and called a “superhero” by Democrats just because he criticized de facto Third-Party President Donald Trump. Schneiderman’s “Andrew Cuomo” downfall came as he resigned in May 2018 when several women came forward with accusations about the physical abuse and humiliation he inflicted on them. Click
