Happy Veterans Day, formerly called Armistice Day since it marked the end of World War One on “the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month” of 1918. Here are six books on that often-neglected conflict. (I will omit Barbara Tuchman’s Guns of August because of how well-known it already is.)

When it comes to Flying Aces of World War One the Americans in the Lafayette Escadrille get the lion’s share of the attention. DOUGHBOY WAR: THE AMERICAN EXPEDITIONARY FORCE IN WORLD WAR I – Written/ edited by James H Hallas. I feel this book is perfect for people who are just diving into World War One and don’t want inundated with all of the overwhelming details of more involved works. Doughboy War covers every aspect of American soldiers’ experiences in the Great War, often in their own words.

Congratulations to de facto Third Party President Donald Trump, America’s populist leader, for enduring a storm of cowardly, destructive attacks that no president since Abraham Lincoln had to endure from their enemies on the way to another term.

Democrats have seen how well they can work their conformist sheep into a frenzy using Trump’s name. They will go on using his name in political campaigns against every male and female candidate who could remotely be construed as ever having agreed with President Trump on any issue. 
AND NO MATTER WHO THE NEXT PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATE IS FOR THE OPPOSITION PARTY … be ready for the usual endless screeching and propagandistic comparisons of that candidate to Hitler, Mussolini and others. IT WILL CONTINUE. The Democrats have been doing that at increasingly shrill levels for the past few decades.
