NAIA AND NCCAA COLLEGE BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT RESULTS

NAIA ROUND TWO

ariz christian university firestormBATTLE OF COOL-NAMED TEAMS – The ARIZONA CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY FIRESTORM clashed with the BETHEL (KS) COLLEGE THRESHERS in this game.

The Threshers had the Firestorm faithful worried at Halftime with their 40-37 edge. After the break the Firestorm dominated on both sides of the ball, outscoring Bethel College 45-26 to win by a final tally of 82-66. Dennis Flowers III led ACU with 16 points, while his teammate Robby Wilson logged a Double-Double of 11 points and 13 rebounds. Continue reading

NAIA, USCAA AND NCCAA BASKETBALL TOURNAMENTS CONTINUE

USCAA DIVISION TWO

southern maine college seawolvesNATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – The 5 seeds – the SOUTHERN MAINE COLLEGE SEAWOLVES – and the 7th seeded JOHNSON & WALES UNIVERSITY AT CHARLOTTE WILDCATS played for the title in Division Two of the USCAA (United States Collegiate Athletic Association).

The Seawolves were on top 36-28 at Halftime, but then had to hold on tight against a furious Wildcats rally after the break. In the end Southern Maine College won out in this 79-75 thriller. Zachary Mickle led the Seawolves with 20 points while two of his teammates notched Double-Doubles – Ian Regan with 15 points & 10 rebounds, and Anderson Kavutse with 12 points & 10 rebounds. * THE SEAWOLVES ARE CHAMPIONS OF USCAA DIVISION TWO * Continue reading

COLLEGE BASKETBALL: NAIA, NCCAA AND USCAA TOURNAMENT RESULTS

NCCAA DIVISION TWO

crown college purple stormFINAL FOUR: FIRST BERTH – The 4 seeds – the CROWN COLLEGE PURPLE STORM – went up against the 5th seeded ARLINGTON BAPTIST UNIVERSITY PATRIOTS.

At Halftime the Purple Storm were out in front by a score of 38-31. From there Crown College got more and more distance from ABU, ultimately winning the game 82-63. Cade Carroll led the Purple Storm in scoring with his 23 points. 

great lakes christian college crusadersFINAL FOUR: SECOND BERTH – Up next the top seeded GREAT LAKES CHRISTIAN COLLEGE CRUSADERS played the 8 seeds – the EMMAUS BIBLE COLLEGE EAGLES.

The Crusaders dominated this game from start to finish. By the midpoint Great Lakes Christian College held a 42-27 advantage before going on to beat the Eagles by a blowout score of NINETY to SIXTY-THREE. Thirteen points from Whitney Harris of the Crusaders led this team effort.  Continue reading

DAY TWO RESULTS FROM THE USCAA NATIONAL TOURNAMENT

The latest results from the USCAA (United States Collegiate Athletic Association) –

USCAA DIVISION ONE

paul quinn college tigersFIRST SEMIFINAL – The top seeded PAUL QUINN COLLEGE TIGERS (should be the Purple Tigers) took the court against the 4 seeds – the BRYANT & STRATTON COLLEGE AT ALBANY BOBCATS.

This catfight saw the Tigers smother the Bobcats on both sides of the ball, leading them 42-23 by Halftime. After the break Paul Quinn College maintained its distance from BSC-Albany the rest of way, going on to win the game 80-59. Spencer McElway and Brandon Johnson led the Tigers with 14 points each.  Continue reading

USCAA COLLEGE BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT DAY ONE RESULTS

Here are the opening day results from the national tournaments for Divisions One and Two in the USCAA (United States Collegiate Athletic Association).

USCAA DIVISION ONE

bryant and stratton college bobcatsDAY ONE: GAME ONE – The 3rd seeded BRYANT & STRATTON COLLEGE AT BUFFALO BOBCATS took on the 6 seeds – the NEWPORT NEWS APPRENTICE SCHOOL BUILDERS (as in Shipbuilders).

The 1st Half was very competitive with the Bobcats holding a mere 33-30 edge over the Builders at Halftime. After the break Bryant & Stratton College at Buffalo got more and more separation from their opponents, ultimately winning the game by a final score of 66-52. DJ Little’s 21 points led the Bobcats in scoring.

paul quinn college tigersDAY ONE: GAME TWO – Up next the top seeds – the PAUL QUINN COLLEGE TIGERS (should be the Purple Tigers) – played the 8th seeded BLUEFIELD STATE BIG BLUES.

The Purple Tigers seized offensive control over the Big Blues and were on top 47-32 by the Half. From there Paul Quinn College confidently kept Bluefield State at arm’s length for an 88-74 victory. Spencer McElway led the Tigers with his unusual Double-Double of 23 points and 20 rebounds. Continue reading

MORE CHAMPS FROM COLLEGE BASKETBALL CONFERENCE TOURNAMENTS

college of idaho coyoteCASCADE COLLEGIATE CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – The last two teams standing in this conference tourney were the top seeded COLLEGE OF IDAHO COYOTES and the 5 seeds – the SOUTHERN OREGON UNIVERSITY RAIDERS (should be the Sea Gulls).

The Coyotes went on a 16-2 run in the opening Half and dominated the game from there. By Halftime the College of Idaho led SOU 40-27, then went on to win the game by a final tally of 78-55. Jake O’Neil of the Coyotes led his team with 13 points. * THE COYOTES ARE CHAMPIONS OF THE CASCADE COLLEGIATE CONFERENCE *   Continue reading

ADDITIONAL NAIA COLLEGE BASKETBALL CONFERENCE TOURNAMENT CHAMPIONS CROWNED

MontanaTech_150pxFRONTIER CONFERENCE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – The 2 seeds – the MONTANA TECH OREDIGGERS – clashed with the top seeded CARROLL COLLEGE FIGHTING SAINTS in the title tilt.

The Fighting Saints were on top 32-29 at Halftime, and the Orediggers were chasing them most of the 2nd Half, as well. With 2 seconds left to play, Montana Tech’s Drew Huse hit a 3-point shot to give his team a 62-61 victory. Sindou Diallo’s 18 points led the winners in scoring. * THE OREDIGGERS ARE CHAMPIONS OF THE FRONTIER CONFERENCE * Continue reading

NAIA COLLEGE BASKETBALL CONFERENCE TOURNAMENTS

CALIFORNIA PACIFIC CONFERENCE

calmaritimekeelhaulersDAY ONE, GAME ONE – The CPC tournament tipped off with the 4th seeded CAL MARITIME ACADEMY KEELHAULERS taking on the 5 seeds – the UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA AT MERCED GOLDEN BOBCATS.

The Keelhaulers were trailing UC-Merced by a mere 37-36 at Halftime. After the break CMA outscored the Golden Bobcats 43-35 for a 79-72 victory. Amil Fields led the game’s winners with 24 points. Continue reading

2022 COLLEGE BASKETBALL POSTSEASON IS UNDERWAY

Yesterday the 2022 postseason of college basketball tipped off in the divisions covered here at Balladeer’s Blog. The Frontier Conference Tournament started things off.

Montana state northern lightsDAY ONE: GAME ONE – The 4 seeds – the MONTANA STATE-NORTHERN LIGHTS – took on the 5th seeded ROCKY MOUNTAIN COLLEGE BATTLIN’ BEARS.

By Halftime the Lights held a 37-32 advantage. After the break they put up another 37 points to the 35 scored by the Battlin’ Bears for a 74-67 victory. Mascio McCadney led Montana State-Northern with 18 points. Continue reading
