ONE HUNDRED FORTY-FIVE – Both teams made the Century Club in this game between the BLUEFIELD STATE BIG BLUES and their guests the JOHNSON & WALES UNIVERSITY (NC) WILDCATS. Defense was not an option, apparently, as the Big Blues led by the unbelievable score of 82-46 at Halftime before going on to win the game 145-106. Malik Lacewell led Bluefield State with 25 points, Malik Tidwell logged 20 points and Khamaury McMillan registered a Double-Double of 12 points and 10 rebounds.
INSTANT CLASSIC – The MIDATLANTIC CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY MUSTANGS took the court against the VIRGINIA PENINSULA COLLEGE GATORS. At the Half the Mustangs were clinging to a tight 32-30 edge. After the break MACU kept the Gators at arm’s length the rest of the way enroute to a 70-68 victory. Noah Richardson-Keys led the victors with 22 points.
ROAD CONQUEST – In this game the FLORIDA NATIONAL UNIVERSITY CONQUISTADORS took it on the road against the FISHER COLLEGE FALCONS. The two teams went blow for blow and basket for basket all the way to a 46-46 tie at the midpoint. From there the Conquistadors managed some separation to win the game 94-88. Jovan Debrito tossed in THIRTY-TWO points to lead Florida National University.
TIGERS ON THE PROWL – The SALEM UNIVERSITY TIGERS (should be the Green Tigers) traveled to face the WASHINGTON ADVENTIST UNIVERSITY SHOCK. The Tigers held a slim 37-36 advantage come Halftime and squeezed out a tiny bit more separation after the break for a 77-74 triumph. Eighteen points from Fope Okuyiga led Salem University in the win.
DEFENSIVE EPIC – The WILLIAMSON COLLEGE OF THE TRADES MECHANICS battled the ALBANY COLLEGE OF PHARMACY & HEALTH SCIENCES PANTHERS. Stifling defense was the name of the game in this contest in which points were at a premium. At the Half the Mechanics led the Panthers by a mere 24-23. From there Williamson College went on to a 55-51 victory. Jack Grace led the Mechanics with 19 points.
BURN THE GAME TAPE AND DENY YOU WERE THERE – The FIVE TOWNS COLLEGE SOUND and the CULINARY INSTITUTE OF AMERICA STEELS clashed in this game. The Sound folded, spindled and mutilated the Steels on both sides of the ball, humiliating them 59-3 in the opening Half on their way to an EIGHTY-NINE to TWENTY-THREE evisceration. Damani Merritt led Five Towns College with 34 points, while teammate Paul Allen notched a Double-Double of 17 points and 22 rebounds.
HAPPY HOME STANDS – The VERMONT TECH GREEN KNIGHTS prevailed over the UNIVERSITY OF MAINE AT AUGUSTA MOOSE by a score of 68-55 ### Meanwhile, the UNIVERSITY OF CINCINNATI AT CLERMONT COUGARS won 92-86 over the BRYANT & STRATTON COLLEGE BOBCATS ### And the KENT STATE AT TUSCARAWAS GOLDEN EAGLES defeated the VILLA MARIA COLLEGE VIKINGS 80-75.
