FUTURE HISTORY: MORE ON THE SECOND U.S. CIVIL WAR

Welcome back to more of my findings from my fictional role as an archaeologist recovering relics from the future.

Last time I translated the foreward to a history book from roughly 2109 -2120. The book dealt with the Second American Civil War of 2037 – 2039, at which point China became heavily involved and the conflict morphed into the Third World War.

This time around I was able to finish a fragment of an early chapter of that same book. This chapter was examining the atrocities perpetrated by some of the units from both the left- wing and the right-wing sides of the war. The Liberal fanatics and the Conservative fanatics were both claiming to be the legitimate government of the former United States, if you’ll recall. Here are the latest lines I was able to translate from the dominant Earthly language of the 22nd Century.

” In the final third of the 20th Century the speakers and money people of the Democratic Party ( which spawned the Liberal fanatics just as the Republican Party spawned the Conservative fanatics ) began developing a very proprietary, some would say condescending, attitude toward Continue reading

LIBERALS AND CONSERVATIVES AND FANATICISM

” My plan to drastically reduce the take-home pay of those few Americans who, despite my incompetence, still have jobs will SURELY repair the damage I’ve done to the economy!”

Welcome back to the favorite place of Independent Voters, Balladeer’s Blog, the only site on the internet that is truly non-partisan in its criticism of the shrill children called Liberals and Conservatives. Last time around I examined how the unconstitutional monopoly that the Democratic and Republican parties hold on the American political system results in all our presidents being inept fools like Barack Obama and George W Bush.

Trust me, all of us would LOVE to vote for better people but the Democrats and Republicans refuse to nominate anyone who doesn’t play the same tired partisan game.

Because of my frequent references to the way Liberal fanatics and Conservative fanatics continue to tear the country apart I sometimes get emails from them asking me how I define the word “fanatic”. I’m always delighted when Liberals can tear themselves away from trite racebaiting and Conservatives can tear themselves away from their Bibles long enough to send me a few hate-filled missives so I’ll be happy to clarify my definition of the word.

YOU KNOW YOU’RE A LIBERAL OR CONSERVATIVE FANATIC IF …

You actually think people who mindlessly agree with your political views are “the good guys” and all the people who don’t are “the bad guys.”

You’ve deluded yourself into thinking that any facts that don’t fit your political prejudices are  propoganda spread by Fox News Channel and talk radio (Liberal fanatics) or spread by the Liberal media (Conservative fanatics) .

You avoid any Continue reading

NOTEWORTHY COLLEGE FOOTBALL RESULTS FROM SEPTEMBER 1ST, 2012

FROSTING FROSTY’S SHORTS – Kevin Donley, the Head Coach of the (6) ST FRANCIS (IN) COUGARS (helmet at left) tied the legendary Frosty Westering for the most wins in NAIA college football at 256.

The victory came in yet another NAIA victory over an NCAA Division 3 team as the Cougars defeated the STEVENS POINT POINTERS  39-31.

BIG RIVER BOWL – The NAIA’s football double-header event for the holiday weekend featured three ranked teams in action.

In the first game the (22) CUMBERLAND UNIVERSITY BULLDOGS (helmet at left) routed the KANSAS WESLEYAN COYOTES by a score of 31-10. Game Two presented the spectacle of the (3) MARIAN UNIVERSITY KNIGHTS (2011 semi- finalists) defeating the (11) BETHEL (TN) WILDCATS, with the only disappointing element being the fact that the game was called because of lightning after 3 quarters. The Knights won 31-7 and start the season at 2-0.

THE CONCORDIA (AL) HORNETS RULE THE WORLD – While mentioning NAIA football let me also point out that the CONCORDIA (AL) HORNETS (U) brought down DIVISION ONE’S MISSISSIPPI VALLEY STATE DELTA DEVILS, the alma mater of THE Jerry Rice. The Hornets emerged with a 20-19 win in this perfect example of college teams with heart toppling Division One schools with their enormous budgets.

TOP 25 UPSETS – NAIA – This Labor Day Saturday saw just one upset in the NAIA rankings.

The PIKEVILLE UNIVERSITY BEARS took it on the road and toppled the 25th- ranked CAMPBELLSVILLE UNIVERSITY TIGERS in a 14-7 epic that played as a celebration of Old School smash-mouth football with the defenses making the offenses pay for every yard and every point.

TOP 25 UPSETS – D3 – The ROWAN UNIVERSITY PROFS, the football pride of Glassboro, NJ, were unranked but upset the 9th- ranked DELAWARE VALLEY AGGIES by an Continue reading

COLLEGE FOOTBALL ACTION SEPTEMBER 1ST

Balladeer’s Blog welcomes you to my continued coverage of this second week of college football action for the 2012 season. It’s Labor Day Weekend and the NAIA (National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics) is holding its gridiron double feature today: the Big River Bowl.

One game will feature the (3) Marian University Knights taking on the (11) Bethel (TN) Wildcats and the other will pit the Kansas Wesleyan College Coyotes against the (22) Cumberland University Bulldogs. Historic Dyersburg, TN is the site for this very special event.

Meanwhile, the race to reach the most wins in NAIA college football history continues between Coach Hank Biesiot of the Dickinson State Blue Hawks and Coach Kevin Donley of the St Francis (IN) Cougars. Both men are tied at 255 wins with Donley’s victory over the Texas College Steers last weekend.

And speaking of teams called Cougars, the Saint Xavier University Cougars begin their defense of their NAIA football championship today. After a bye last weekend Coach Mike Feminis’ boys take on the Olivet Nazarene University Tigers. All this plus college football games in NCAA Divisions 2 and 3, in the NJCAA and in the CCCAA! Keep checking Continue reading

BAD MOVIE PAGE: GANJASAURUS REX (1987)

GANJASAURUS REX (1987) – Category: A film that doesn’t know what it wants to be.

In Balladeer’s Blog’s review of the incredibly bad horror film Horror House on Highway 5 I pointed out that a few scenes gave the impression that the filmmakers might have been trying for a wry parody of slasher movies but lacked the talent to make the film work even as a comedy. Ganjasaurus Rex has that same problem tenfold.  The parts that are supposed to be funny aren’t, the scenes that aren’t supposed to be funny are, and the end result is a cinematic misfit that is more boring- bad than fun- bad.

The film begins promisingly as a sendup of the Reagan Administration’s hilariously naive “Just say no to drugs” campaign. A fictitious arm of the Gipper’s War on Drugs called C.A.M.P. (Campaign Against Marijuana Planting) is leaning on pot growers, burning their crops and hauling them off to prison. That’s the Continue reading
