COLLEGE FOOTBALL RESULTS FROM SEPTEMBER 21st

HEADLINES

Colorado Mines Orediggers NEWKNOCKING OFF NUMBER SEVEN – NCAA Division Two’s 17th ranked COLORADO SCHOOL OF MINES OREDIGGERS traveled to face the country’s number 7 team – the COLORADO STATE AT PUEBLO THUNDERWOLVES. The Orediggers were unintimidated, leading the Thunderwolves 28-7 at the break before coasting to a 34-14 victory.

Keiser SeahawksNUMBER EIGHT TAKES A FALL – In the NAIA the KEISER UNIVERSITY SEAHAWKS took the field against the visiting number 8 team in the nation – the REINHARDT UNIVERSITY EAGLES (should be the Rottweilers). A 7-0 lead for the Seahawks remained unchanged come Halftime. Reinhardt pulled to within 7-6 to end the 3rd Quarter before Keiser U won the game 14-12 in the 4th.

HillsdaleHAPPY HILLSDALE – Back in NCAA Division Two the storied HILLSDALE COLLEGE CHARGERS welcomed the LAKE ERIE COLLEGE STORM. The Chargers led 14-7 at the Half. From there the Storm cut the lead to 20-14 in the 3rd Quarter before Hillsdale College floored it in the 4th for a 34-14 triumph. Continue reading

COLLEGE FOOTBALL RESULTS FROM SEPTEMBER 19th

Cumberlands Patriots helmet NEWNUMBER FOURTEEN ROLLS – The NAIA’s 14th ranked UNIVERSITY OF THE CUMBERLANDS PATRIOTS welcomed the WEBBER INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY WARRIORS last night. The Patriots dominated their opponents on both sides of the ball, leading the Warriors 28-0 by Halftime on their way to a 45-14 triumph.

Frostburg State BobcatsUNDER THE RADAR CLASSIC – Over in NCAA Division Two the FROSTBURG STATE BOBCATS played host to the WEST LIBERTY STATE HILLTOPPERS. The Bobcats held a 17-14 edge at the Half, following which each team added another 10 points as the Bobcats won this 27-24 thriller.

Northwest Mississippi College Rangers blueTUSSLE IN THE TOP TEN – In the NJCAA the 3rd ranked NORTHWEST MISSISSIPPI COLLEGE RANGERS battled their guests the number 8 COPIAH-LINCOLN COLLEGE WOLVES. These familiar foes went blow for blow and score for score until the Rangers emerged with a 19-15 victory.  Continue reading

COLLEGE FOOTBALL RESULTS FROM SEPTEMBER 14th

HEADLINES

Taylor Trojans helmet NEWNAIA OVER NCAA DIVISION ONE – The NAIA’s TAYLOR UNIVERSITY TROJANS once again played giant-slayer, this time on the road against NCAA Division One’s BUTLER UNIVERSITY BULLDOGS. The Trojans quieted the home crowd with a 7-0 1st Quarter lead that became a 14-7 advantage by Halftime. The 3rd Quarter ended with Taylor University on top 17-7 before the Trojans held on for a 17-14 Upset win.

Allen University Yellow JacketsNAIA OVER NCAA DIVISION TWO – The NAIA’s ALLEN UNIVERSITY YELLOW JACKETS hosted NCAA D2’s CLARK ATLANTA UNIVERSITY PANTHERS yesterday. The Yellow Jackets led 7-3 in the 1st Quarter but the Panthers went up 10-7 by the break. From there Allen University shut out Clark Atlanta while taking a 13-10 3rd Quarter edge and sealing the Upset 16-10 in the 4th.

Susquehanna University River Hawks helmetNUMBER SEVEN TAKEN DOWN – Meanwhile, down in NCAA Division Three, the SUSQUEHANNA UNIVERSITY RIVER HAWKS traveled to take on the number 7 team in the nation – the JOHNS HOPKINS UNIVERSITY BLUEJAYS. A deadlocked 7-7 opening Quarter turned into a 21-7 Bluejays lead at the Half. Neither team scored in the 3rd Quarter but the River Hawks exploded in the 4th for 21 points to win it 28-27. COLLEGE FOOTBALL RESULTS FROM SEPTEMBER 12th

HEADLINES 

Missouri WesternUPSET IN THE RANKINGS – In NCAA Division Two a Top 25 team got knocked off. The MISSOURI WESTERN STATE GRIFFONS traveled to face the number 22 FORT HAYS STATE TIGERS. The Griffons were chasing the Tigers 3-0 in the 1st Quarter but by Halftime held a commanding 21-3 lead. From there Missouri Western State coasted to a 28-17 victory.

Jones County College BobcatsNUMBER TWELVE TAKES A FALL – Down in the NJCAA the 18th ranked JONES COUNTY COLLEGE BOBCATS welcomed the number 12 team in the nation – the HINDS COLLEGE EAGLES. The Bobcats put the Eagles on Upset Alert by the Half with a 14-7 edge. In the 2nd Half Jones County shut out Hinds College while adding 17 more points of their own. The Bobcats won it 31-7. COLLEGE FOOTBALL RESULTS FROM SEPTEMBER 7th

HEADLINES

Ottawa (AZ) SpiritOTTAWA (AZ) OFFS D2 – The NAIA’s OTTAWA UNIVERSITY (AZ) SPIRIT took on the visiting NCAA Division Two team the WESTERN NEW MEXICO UNIVERSITY MUSTANGS. The already storied Spirit added to their fame with a 38-31 triumph over the upper division team. For newbies this is like a 1AA team defeating a 1A team.

Concordia_MICARDINALS PLAY GIANT SLAYER, TOO – Another NAIA team – the (6) CONCORDIA (MI) CARDINALS – paid a visit to the NCAA Division Two team the KENTUCKY WESLEYAN COLLEGE PANTHERS. The Cardinals took care of business, knocking off the D2 Panthers in a 17-14 game for the ages.

Wesley WolverinesWESLEY TOPPLES FPU – In NCAA Division Three the WESLEY COLLEGE WOLVERINES traveled to take on the Division Two team the FRANKLIN PIERCE UNIVERSITY RAVENS. The Ravens were playing in their first ever intercollegiate football game and it showed. The Wolverines tore them apart SIXTY-NINE to NOTHING! Continue reading

COLLEGE FOOTBALL RESULTS FROM SEPTEMBER 5th

HEADLINES

Central MissouriDOWN GOES NUMBER EIGHT – In NCAA Division Two the UNIVERSITY OF CENTRAL MISSOURI MULES traveled to take on the number 8 team in the nation – the FORT HAYS STATE TIGERS. The Mules were chasing the Tigers 10-0 in the 1st Quarter and 16-7 at Halftime. Central Missouri pulled to within 23-21 to end the 3rd Quarter then overtook Fort Hays State in the 4th for a 34-30 triumph.

Ferris State BulldogsCLOSE CALLS FOR NUMBER TWO AND NUMBER FOUR – Also in Division Two the 2nd ranked FERRIS STATE BULLDOGS got almost more than they could handle from the visiting UNIVERSITY OF FINDLAY OILERS in a 24-23 thriller    ###    And the 4th ranked OUACHITA BAPTIST UNIVERSITY TIGERS barely survived a 16-14 visit from the number 16 HARDING UNIVERSITY BISON. 

Johns Hopkins UniversityWHEN RANKED TEAMS CLASH – Down in Division Three the number 6 team in the nation – the JOHNS HOPKINS UNIVERSITY BLUE JAYS – took it on the road against the 24th ranked RANDOLPH MACON COLLEGE YELLOW JACKETS. A 7-3 Halftime edge for the Blue Jays became a 10-6 score in the 3rd Quarter and ultimately a 17-12 victory.  Continue reading

HUTCHINSON COLLEGE BLUE DRAGONS FOOTBALL RANKED NUMBER ONE

Through the first two weeks of the NJCAA Football season, the Hutchinson Community College football team was the only team of the preseason Top 5 to escape without a loss.

On Tuesday, the Blue Dragons made history by achieving their first No. 1 ranking in football in program history.

The Blue Dragons (2-0) took over the top spot after preseason No. 1 East Mississippi, No. 2 Iowa Western, No. 3 Garden City and No. 4 Jones all suffered losses. Continue reading

COLLEGE FOOTBALL RESULTS FROM AUGUST 31st

HEADLINES

Iowa Central TritonsNUMBER TWO TAKES A FALL – In the NJCAA the 14th ranked IOWA CENTRAL COLLEGE TRITONS welcomed the number 2 team in the nation – the IOWA WESTERN COLLEGE REIVERS. The Tritons put the Reivers on Upset Alert with a 12-10 1st Quarter edge which became a tighter 18-17 lead at Halftime. The 3rd Quarter ended with Iowa Central College on top 21-17 before they won it 28-26 from there. The NJCAA’s number 1 East Mississippi College lost Thursday night.

Morningside MustangsONE AND TWO ROLL – Meanwhile, up in the NAIA, the top ranked defending champions – the MORNINGSIDE COLLEGE MUSTANGS – annihilated the visiting UNIVERSITY OF SAINT FRANCIS (IL) FIGHTING SAINTS to the tune of EIGHTY to NOTHING    ###    And the number 2 BENEDICTINE COLLEGE RAVENS eviscerated their hosts the GRACELAND UNIVERSITY YELLOW JACKETS 72-7.

Kansas Wesleyan helmet NEWCELEBRATING FOOTBALL – Also in the NAIA the 4th ranked KANSAS WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY COYOTES welcomed the TEXAS WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY RAMS for their season-opening event called Celebrating Football. The Coyotes wound up doing all the celebrating, doubling up on the Rams for a 48-24 triumph. Continue reading

COLLEGE FOOTBALL RESULTS FROM AUGUST 29th

HEADLINES

Hinds College eagles good helmetNUMBER ONE GOES DOWN – In the NJCAA the HINDS COLLEGE EAGLES welcomed the top ranked, two-time defending champions – the EAST MISSISSIPPI COLLEGE LIONS. A 13-10 lead for the Eagles in the opening Quarter remained unchanged at Halftime. The 3rd Quarter ended with the Lions on top 16-10 but Hinds College dominated the 4th, including a pick-six as they toppled Number One 24-16.

Coahoma College TigersAND NUMBER FOUR COMES TUMBLING AFTER – Meanwhile the COAHOMA COLLEGE TIGERS took on the visiting 4th ranked JONES COUNTY COLLEGE BOBCATS. The Tigers led 6-0 in the 1st before the Bobcats went up 7-6 at the Half. Coahoma College seized an 18-7 lead in the 3rd Quarter and won it by a final score of 18-10.  

Rocky Mountain CollegeKNOCKING OFF NUMBER NINE – Up in the NAIA the 23rd ranked ROCKY MOUNTAIN COLLEGE BATTLIN’ BEARS traveled to face the number 9 team in the nation – the DICKINSON STATE BLUE HAWKS. The Battlin’ Bears defense kept the Blue Hawks off the scoreboard the entire 1st Half as a 3-0 Rocky Mountain College lead in the 1st Quarter became 10-0 at the break. That became a 20-7 advantage in the 3rd Quarter before the Battlin’ Bears had to hold on by their fingertips in the 4th for a 23-21 upset win. Continue reading
