COLLEGE FOOTBALL RESULTS FROM SEPTEMBER 21st

HEADLINES

Colorado Mines Orediggers NEWKNOCKING OFF NUMBER SEVEN – NCAA Division Two’s 17th ranked COLORADO SCHOOL OF MINES OREDIGGERS traveled to face the country’s number 7 team – the COLORADO STATE AT PUEBLO THUNDERWOLVES. The Orediggers were unintimidated, leading the Thunderwolves 28-7 at the break before coasting to a 34-14 victory.

Keiser SeahawksNUMBER EIGHT TAKES A FALL – In the NAIA the KEISER UNIVERSITY SEAHAWKS took the field against the visiting number 8 team in the nation – the REINHARDT UNIVERSITY EAGLES (should be the Rottweilers). A 7-0 lead for the Seahawks remained unchanged come Halftime. Reinhardt pulled to within 7-6 to end the 3rd Quarter before Keiser U won the game 14-12 in the 4th.

HillsdaleHAPPY HILLSDALE – Back in NCAA Division Two the storied HILLSDALE COLLEGE CHARGERS welcomed the LAKE ERIE COLLEGE STORM. The Chargers led 14-7 at the Half. From there the Storm cut the lead to 20-14 in the 3rd Quarter before Hillsdale College floored it in the 4th for a 34-14 triumph.

Chapman PanthersTOPPLING NUMBER TEN – Down in NCAA Division Three the CHAPMAN UNIVERSITY PANTHERS faced the number 10 team in the land – the WHITWORTH UNIVERSITY PIRATES. By the midpoint the Panthers held a comfortable 27-13 advantage but had to hold tight in the 2nd Half to win the game 37-30. 

NNAS_VAUSCAA OVER NCAA – The NEWPORT NEWS APPRENTICE SCHOOL BUILDERS (Shipbuilders) from the USCAA (United States Collegiate Athletic Association) played host to the NCAA’s GALLAUDET UNIVERSITY BISON. This was a tale of 2 Halves as a hard-fought 1st Half ended with the Builders on top 22-13. From there Newport News Apprentice School dominated, crushing the Bison FORTY-NINE to THIRTEEN!

Waldorf Warriors helmetNAIA OVER NCAA – The NAIA wins: The WALDORF UNIVERSITY WARRIORS won a 27-24 Instant Classic over the visiting UW-RIVER FALLS FALCONS   ###   Meanwhile the DICKINSON STATE BLUE HAWKS downed the UW-LACROSSE EAGLES 23-17   ###   And the DAKOTA STATE TROJANS hammered the UW-STEVENS POINT POINTERS by a final tally of 38-21. 

Whitewater Warhawks helmet newNCAA OVER NAIA – The NCAA wins: The UW-WHITEWATER WARHAWKS outlasted their hosts the SAINT XAVIER UNIVERSITY COUGARS 28-20   ###   And the UW-PLATTEVILLE PIONEERS made the visiting THOMAS MORE COLLEGE SAINTS their prison brides to the tune of 41-10.

** The NAIA wins the week 3 games to 2 and goes 3-0 on the season so far. **

William Penn StatesmenOTHER UPSETS IN THE RANKINGS – The WILLIAM PENN UNIVERSITY STATESMEN took it on the road against the 13th ranked BAKER UNIVERSITY WILDCATS and went back home boasting a 21-18 victory   ###    And the STERLING COLLEGE WARRIORS celebrated Warrior Fest by defeating the number 21 OTTAWA (KS) BRAVES 37-29.

Cumberland Phoenix helmetUNDER THE RADAR CLASSICS – The (25) CUMBERLAND UNIVERSITY PHOENIX snuck by their hosts the SAINT ANDREWS UNIVERSITY KNIGHTS 24-22   ###   Meanwhile the MONTANA TECH OREDIGGERS survived a 17-14 visit from the SOUTHERN OREGON UNIVERSITY RAIDERS (should be the Sea Gulls)   ###   And the TABOR COLLEGE BLUE JAYS won a 14-7 game at the FRIENDS UNIVERSITY FALCONS.

Arizona Christian Univ helmet GOODALL-NAME GAMES – The ARIZONA CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY FIRESTORM defeated the homestanding WAYLAND BAPTIST UNIVERSITY PIONEERS (should be the Flying W’s) by a score of 40-27   ###   The DORDT COLLEGE DEFENDERS crushed their hosts the UNIVERSITY OF JAMESTOWN JIMMIES 41-16   ###   And the LYON COLLEGE SCOTS won 32-17 at the TEXAS COLLEGE STEERS. 

Point University good helmetROAD WARRIORS – The POINT UNIVERSITY SKYHAWKS defeated the homestanding UNIVERSITY OF SAINT THOMAS BOBCATS (should be the Tomcats) 38-31   ###   And the (14) EVANGEL UNIVERSITY CRUSADERS eked out a 16-14 win over the CULVER-STOCKTON COLLEGE WILDCATS.

Concordia_MINUMBER ONE ROLLS – The (1) CONCORDIA (MI) CARDINALS were at the UNIVERSITY OF SAINT FRANCIS (IL) FIGHTING SAINTS yesterday. The Cardinals kept the Fighting Saints off the scoreboard until the 4th Quarter while converting a 13-0 Halftime lead into a 27-0 advantage to end the 3rd Quarter. In the final frame Concordia won it 30-7.

Ottawa (AZ) SpiritNUMBER TWO TRIES HARDER – The (2) OTTAWA UNIVERSITY (AZ) SPIRIT welcomed the TEXAS WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY RAMS. A 7-7 1st Quarter tie became a 21-16 Spirit edge at the Half. The Rams went on top 31-28 in the 3rd Quarter before Ottawa U came back for a 42-38 triumph.

Geneva College Golden Tornadoes goldBLOWOUTS – The (9) GENEVA COLLEGE GOLDEN TORNADOES absolutely mangled the THIEL COLLEGE TOMCATS to the tune of 45-10    ###    And the (3) CAMPBELLSVILLE UNIVERSITY TIGERS totaled the UNION COLLEGE BULLDOGS by a final score of 52-14.

Greenville College PanthersTRIPLING UP ON THE COMPETITION – The (11) GREENVILLE UNIVERSITY PANTHERS were on the road against the (12) UNIVERSITY OF NORTHWESTERN (MN) EAGLES. The Panthers parlayed a 14-0 1st Quarter lead into a 28-7 Halftime advantage before going on to win the game 42-14. 

Trinity Bible College Lions helmetLOL (LIONS OVER LOGGERS) – The (13) TRINITY BIBLE COLLEGE LIONS played host to the LEWIS-CLARK VALLEY COLLEGE LOGGERS on Saturday. The Loggers scared the home crowd with a 7-0 lead in the opening Quarter and a 14-6 edge at the Half. After the break the Lions outscored Lewis-Clark Valley College 27-6, leading 27-20 in the 3rd and winning it 33-20.

Albany State golden rams helmetOTHER UPSETS IN THE RANKINGS – The only other Upset in the D2 rankings came in the game between the ALBANY STATE GOLDEN RAMS and the homestanding 13th ranked UNIVERSITY OF WEST GEORGIA WOLVES. The Golden Rams put the Wolves on Upset Alert with a 10-7 Halftime lead, then went on to consummate the deal with a 26-14 triumph. 

Central MissouriWORKIN’ OVERTIME – The (20) UNIVERSITY OF CENTRAL MISSOURI MULES won a 48-45 OT affair at the MISSOURI WESTERN STATE GRIFFONS    ###   Meanwhile the FORT HAYS STATE TIGERS defeated their hosts the WASHBURN UNIVERSITY ICHABODS 41-38   ###   And in Double Overtime the SHAW UNIVERSITY BEARS beat the CHOWAN U INDIANS off a missed PAT 48-47.

Truman State helmetGIVE ‘EM HELL, TRUMAN STATE – The TRUMAN STATE BULLDOGS took on NCAA Division One’s VALPARAISO UNIVERSITY CRUSADERS. The Bulldogs once again had their way with this higher division team. The final tally in this game was Truman State 38  Crusaders 7.

Central State marauders helmetUNDER THE RADAR CLASSICS – The CENTRAL STATE MARAUDERS notched a 26-19 road victory over the CLARK ATLANTA UNIVERSITY PANTHERS   ###   The OKLAHOMA BAPTIST UNIVERSITY BISON won at the SOUTHEASTERN OKLAHOMA STATE SAVAGE STORM 34-31   ###   And the DELTA STATE STATESMEN survived a 30-28 visit from the FLORIDA TECH PANTHERS. 

NCAA DIVISION THREE

Carnegie Mellon TartansOTHER UPSETS IN THE RANKINGS – The CARNEGIE MELLON UNIVERSITY TARTANS sent the (12) WASHINGTON & JEFFERSON COLLEGE PRESIDENTS back home nursing their 20-13 loss   ###   Meanwhile the REDLANDS UNIVERSITY BULLDOGS defeated the visiting (11) LINFIELD COLLEGE WILDCATS 27-19   ###   And the AUSTIN COLLEGE KANGAROOS won 20-13 over the (19) CENTRE COLLEGE COLONELS.  

wilkes college colonelsA DOUBLE SHOT OF THAT OT LOVE – The traveling WILKES COLLEGE COLONELS and the LYCOMING COLLEGE WARRIORS went into Double Overtime before the Colonels won out 24-17    ###    And the ADRIAN COLLEGE BULLDOGS defeated the visiting WISCONSIN LUTHERAN COLLEGE WARRIORS in 2 OT’s 32-29. 

Nebraska Wesleyan Prairie Wolves helmets NEWPRAIRIE ROAD COMPANION – The NEBRASKA WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY PRAIRIE WOLVES found themselves on the road against the BUENA VISTA UNIVERSITY BEAVERS on Saturday. The Prairie Wolves dominated the Beavers, ultimately crushing them 37-16.

Claremont Mudd Scripps CollegeCOOL-NAME CLASHES – The CLAREMONT-MUDD-SCRIPPS COLLEGE STAGS survived a 24-17 visit from the PACIFIC LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY LUTES    ###    And the PUGET SOUND UNIVERSITY LOGGERS took down their guests the LA VERNE UNIVERSITY LEOPARDS by a final score of 28-24.

    NAIA football is so much better than NCAA 3 football.
