COLLEGE FOOTBALL RESULTS FROM SEPTEMBER 5th

HEADLINES

Central MissouriDOWN GOES NUMBER EIGHT – In NCAA Division Two the UNIVERSITY OF CENTRAL MISSOURI MULES traveled to take on the number 8 team in the nation – the FORT HAYS STATE TIGERS. The Mules were chasing the Tigers 10-0 in the 1st Quarter and 16-7 at Halftime. Central Missouri pulled to within 23-21 to end the 3rd Quarter then overtook Fort Hays State in the 4th for a 34-30 triumph.

Ferris State BulldogsCLOSE CALLS FOR NUMBER TWO AND NUMBER FOUR – Also in Division Two the 2nd ranked FERRIS STATE BULLDOGS got almost more than they could handle from the visiting UNIVERSITY OF FINDLAY OILERS in a 24-23 thriller    ###    And the 4th ranked OUACHITA BAPTIST UNIVERSITY TIGERS barely survived a 16-14 visit from the number 16 HARDING UNIVERSITY BISON. 

Johns Hopkins UniversityWHEN RANKED TEAMS CLASH – Down in Division Three the number 6 team in the nation – the JOHNS HOPKINS UNIVERSITY BLUE JAYS – took it on the road against the 24th ranked RANDOLPH MACON COLLEGE YELLOW JACKETS. A 7-3 Halftime edge for the Blue Jays became a 10-6 score in the 3rd Quarter and ultimately a 17-12 victory. 

westminster titans helmetORDER SIXTY-SIX – Also in D3 the WESTMINSTER (PA) COLLEGE TITANS hosted the CAPITAL UNIVERSITY CRUSADERS. It was all Titans as Westminster College parlayed a 14-0 1st Quarter lead over the Crusaders into a 42-0 Halftime advantage before going on to win the game SIXTY-SIX to SEVEN. 

Lock Haven Bald EaglesLOCK HAVEN STARTS STRONG – Back in Division Two the LOCK HAVEN UNIVERSITY BALD EAGLES have had more than their share of disappointments in recent years but yesterday they tore apart the LINCOLN (PA) LIONS to start their 2019 campaign. The Bald Eagles led it 45-6 at the Half then coasted to a FIFTY-SEVEN to THIRTEEN blowout win on the road.

NCAA DIVISION TWO

Northwest Missouri BearcatsNUMBER SIX ROLLS ON THE ROAD – The 6th ranked NORTHWEST MISSOURI STATE BEARCATS paid a visit to the MISSOURI WESTERN GRIFFONS last night. The Bearcats led 24-14 come Halftime before the Griffons pulled to within 31-28 in the 3rd Quarter. Northwest Missouri State pulled away in the 4th to win it 45-35.

Indianapolis Greyhounds helmetCLASH OF RANKED TEAMS – The number 12 team in the country – the UNIVERSITY OF INDIANAPOLIS GREYHOUNDS – were on the road against the 20th ranked ASHLAND UNIVERSITY EAGLES. The Eagles put the Greyhounds on Upset Alert with a 9-0 lead at the break but the University of Indianapolis came back to take a 10-9 edge in the 3rd before managing a 24-9 victory in the 4th.

Pittsburg State GorillasVICTORIES BY OTHER RANKED TEAMS – The (24) PITTSBURG (KS) STATE GORILLAS notched a tight 37-35 road win over the CENTRAL OKLAHOMA BRONCHOS (sic)   ###   Meanwhile the (22) SLIPPERY ROCK UNIVERSITY’s THE ROCK trounced their hosts the WAYNE STATE (MI) WARRIORS 62-37   ###   And the (23) WINGATE BULLDOGS won 42-6 at the JOHNSON C SMITH UNIVERSITY GOLDEN BULLS.

Arkansas Monticello helmetARKANSAS ARMAGEDDON – The UNIVERSITY OF ARKANSAS AT MONTICELLO BOLL WEEVILS welcomed the ARKANSAS TECH WONDERBOYS last night. The Wonderboys enjoyed a 10-7 lead in the 1st Quarter and a 17-14 advantage at Halftime. In the 3rd Quarter the Boll Weevils went on top 23-20 but Arkansas Tech tied it up at 23-23 to end the 4th. In OVERTIME UAM shut out the Wonderboys and notched a Field Goal to win it 26-23.

MillersvilleONE-POINT WONDER – The MILLERSVILLE UNIVERSITY MARAUDERS found themselves on the road against the PACE UNIVERSITY SETTERS (Irish Setters). A 7-7 1st Quarter tie turned into a 17-7 Setters advantage at the midpoint. The Marauders grabbed a 21-17 lead in the 3rd Quarter then held on tight for a 21-20 triumph.

delta stateHAPPY HOMESTANDS – The DELTA STATE STATESMEN handed the visiting TUSCULUM COLLEGE PIONEERS a 24-10 loss    ###   Meanwhile the NORTH GREENVILLE UNIVERSITY CRUSADERS defeated the NEWBERRY UNIVERSITY WOLVES 17-7   ###   And the WASHBURN UNIVERSITY ICHABODS crushed the LINCOLN (MO) BLUE TIGERS 49-27.

NCAA DIVISION THREE

Millsaps_MSDOUBLING UP ON THE COMPETITION – The MILLSAPS COLLEGE MAJORS welcomed the BELHAVEN UNIVERSITY BLAZERS yesterday. A defense-dominated 1st Half ended with the Majors up 7-0. An explosive 2nd Half saw Millsaps College leading the Blazers 28-0 in the 3rd Quarter before winning the game 28-14.

Lake Forest ForestersFORESTERS ON THE ROAD – The LAKE FOREST COLLEGE FORESTERS traveled to face the WISCONSIN LUTHERAN COLLEGE WARRIORS. The Foresters led the Warriors 7-0 in the opening Quarter and 14-7 at the break. From there Wisconsin Lutheran pulled to within 14-13 in the 3rd Quarter only to see Lake Forest College pull away in the 4th for a 27-15 triumph.

Wheaton ThunderA ROAR OF THUNDER – The WHEATON (IL) COLLEGE THUNDER took it on the road against the MANCHESTER UNIVERSITY SPARTANS. By Halftime the Thunder were on top 24-0. The Spartans offense got going in the 2nd Half but couldn’t overcome their slow start as Wheaton College wound up winning by a final score of 38-21.

Buena Vista Beavers Helmet GOODBUSY BEAVERS – The BUENA VISTA UNIVERSITY BEAVERS paid a visit to the HAMLINE UNIVERSITY PIPERS last night. The Beavers kept the Pipers off the scoreboard until the 4th Quarter while parlaying a 32-0 Halftime advantage into an authoritative 51-7 smackdown.

Trinity Tigers NEWTIGERS TAKING CARE OF BUSINESS – The TRINITY (TX) TIGERS welcomed the MCMURRY UNIVERSITY WARHAWKS. The Tigers proceeded to dominate the Warhawks on both sides of the ball, leading by a score of 27-3 at the midpoint of the game and then winning it 41-10.
