NUMBER FOURTEEN ROLLS – The NAIA’s 14th ranked UNIVERSITY OF THE CUMBERLANDS PATRIOTS welcomed the WEBBER INTERNATIONAL UNIVERSITY WARRIORS last night. The Patriots dominated their opponents on both sides of the ball, leading the Warriors 28-0 by Halftime on their way to a 45-14 triumph.
UNDER THE RADAR CLASSIC – Over in NCAA Division Two the FROSTBURG STATE BOBCATS played host to the WEST LIBERTY STATE HILLTOPPERS. The Bobcats held a 17-14 edge at the Half, following which each team added another 10 points as the Bobcats won this 27-24 thriller.
TUSSLE IN THE TOP TEN – In the NJCAA the 3rd ranked NORTHWEST MISSISSIPPI COLLEGE RANGERS battled their guests the number 8 COPIAH-LINCOLN COLLEGE WOLVES. These familiar foes went blow for blow and score for score until the Rangers emerged with a 19-15 victory.
WHEN RANKED TEAMS CLASH – Staying in the NJCAA the number 4 team in the nation – the MISSISSIPPI GULF COAST BULLDOGS – took on the visiting 13th ranked JONES COUNTY COLLEGE BOBCATS. A 7-0 1st Quarter lead for the Bulldogs turned into a 14-0 advantage by the break and 20-0 to end the 3rd. In the 4th Mississippi Gulf Coast had to hold on against a furious Bobcats rally to win it 20-14.
ROAD WARRIORS – Back in D2 the URBANA UNIVERSITY BLUE KNIGHTS took it on the road against the WHEELING JESUIT UNIVERSITY CARDINALS. The 1st Quarter ended in a 7-7 tie before the Blue Knights went up 21-13 at Halftime. The Cardinals pulled to within 24-20 to end the 3rd Quarter but Urbana University exploded in the 4th for a comfortable 41-26 triumph.
SOMEONE’S O HAD TO GO – Down in NCAA Division Three a pair of 0-2 teams met on the gridiron – the MANCHESTER UNIVERSITY SPARTANS and the homestanding DEFIANCE COLLEGE YELLOW JACKETS. The Spartans not only notched their 1st win of 2019 but did it in style, parlaying a 10-0 lead in the opening Quarter into a 38-7 Halftime advantage. Ultimately Manchester U won the game 52-21.
SHUTOUTS – D2’s WINONA STATE WARRIORS hammered the visiting UPPER IOWA UNIVERSITY PEACOCKS by a final score of 28-0 ### And the NJCAA’s EAST CENTRAL COLLEGE WARRIORS blew out their guests the PEARL RIVER COLLEGE WILDCATS 35-0.
