NAIA OVER NCAA DIVISION ONE – The NAIA’s TAYLOR UNIVERSITY TROJANS once again played giant-slayer, this time on the road against NCAA Division One’s BUTLER UNIVERSITY BULLDOGS. The Trojans quieted the home crowd with a 7-0 1st Quarter lead that became a 14-7 advantage by Halftime. The 3rd Quarter ended with Taylor University on top 17-7 before the Trojans held on for a 17-14 Upset win.
NAIA OVER NCAA DIVISION TWO – The NAIA’s ALLEN UNIVERSITY YELLOW JACKETS hosted NCAA D2’s CLARK ATLANTA UNIVERSITY PANTHERS yesterday. The Yellow Jackets led 7-3 in the 1st Quarter but the Panthers went up 10-7 by the break. From there Allen University shut out Clark Atlanta while taking a 13-10 3rd Quarter edge and sealing the Upset 16-10 in the 4th.
NUMBER SEVEN TAKEN DOWN – Meanwhile, down in NCAA Division Three, the SUSQUEHANNA UNIVERSITY RIVER HAWKS traveled to take on the number 7 team in the nation – the JOHNS HOPKINS UNIVERSITY BLUEJAYS. A deadlocked 7-7 opening Quarter turned into a 21-7 Bluejays lead at the Half. Neither team scored in the 3rd Quarter but the River Hawks exploded in the 4th for 21 points to win it 28-27.
KNOCKING OFF NUMBER TWO – In the NJCAA the CISCO COLLEGE WRANGLERS took it on the road against the country’s number 2 KILGORE COLLEGE RANGERS. The Rangers held a 10-8 edge to end the 1st Quarter but the Wranglers grabbed a 14-10 lead by the midpoint. In the 3rd Cisco College went up 24-17 then won the game by a final score of 38-23.
MARATHON GAME OF THE WEEK – This distinction goes to the D3 game between the 22nd ranked WESLEY COLLEGE WOLVERINES and the number 13 DELAWARE VALLEY UNIVERSITY AGGIES. Regulation ended in a dismal 3-3 tie followed by not one, not two, not three, but FOUR OVERTIMES with the Wolverines sneaking past the Aggies 24-18.
USCAA GAME SPOTLIGHT – In the USCAA (United States Collegiate Athletic Association) the WILLIAMSON COLLEGE OF THE TRADES MECHANICS welcomed the NEW YORK PATRIOTS. The Mechanics dominated on both sides of the ball, parlaying a 15-0 1st Quarter lead into a 36-0 Halftime advantage and ultimately a FIFTY-SEVEN to NOTHING blowout win.

NAIA OVER D3 – The NAIA’s LAWRENCE TECH BLUE DEVILS played host to D3’s WISCONSIN LUTHERAN COLLEGE WARRIORS. The Blue Devils were in charge the entire game, leading 24-0 at the Half. From there Lawrence Tech coasted to a 34-14 triumph.
MORE NAIA OVER D3 – The VALLEY CITY STATE VIKINGS were on the road against the D3 team the MINNESOTA-MORRIS COUGARS. This game was a true laugher as the Vikings folded, spindled and mutilated the Cougars to the tune of SIXTY-SEVEN to SEVEN!
D3 OVER NAIA – The AUSTIN COLLEGE KANGAROOS visited the SOUTHWESTERN ASSEMBLIES OF GOD UNIVERSITY LIONS. Neither team scored in the 1st Quarter but by the break the Lions were up 19-14. That became 26-21 in the 3rd before the Kangaroos came back to win it in the 4th, 27-26.
MORE D3 OVER NAIA – The ANDERSON UNIVERSITY RAVENS edged the CINCINNATI CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY EAGLES 27-23 ### The BUENA VISTA UNIVERSITY BEAVERS beat the CONCORDIA (NE) BULLDOGS 27-24 ### And the COLLEGE OF SAINT SCHOLASTICA SAINTS clobbered the PRESENTATION COLLEGE SAINTS 41-13.
The NAIA victory over NCAA Division One counts as 3 wins and the victory over NCAA Division Two counts as 2 wins, so the NAIA wins this week 7 to 4. (D3 did not beat any D1 or D2 teams this week) The NAIA has won both weeks so far.

WHEN RANKED TEAMS CLASH – The (15) COLLEGE OF IDAHO COYOTES welcomed the (20) SOUTHERN OREGON UNIVERSITY RAIDERS (should be the Sea Gulls). The Raiders held a slender 17-16 edge at Halftime before the Coyotes came roaring back. College of Idaho went on top 23-17 in the 3rd Quarter before holding on in an explosive 4th Quarter for a 41-38 victory.
GETTING A JUMP ON THE WEEKEND – On Friday night the AVE MARIA UNIVERSITY GYRENES took on the visiting SAINT ANDREWS UNIVERSITY KNIGHTS. The Knights seized a quick 20-7 lead in the 1st Quarter but the Gyrenes were up 28-26 at the Half. Each team added a TD in the 2nd Half as Ave Maria University squeaked out a 35-33 win.
ROAD WARRIORS – The BETHEL (KS) THRESHERS defeated their hosts the AVILA UNIVERSITY EAGLES (formerly the Avalanche) 54-34 ### Meanwhile the MONTANA TECH OREDIGGERS rolled over the EASTERN OREGON UNIVERSITY MOUNTAINEERS 35-10 ### And the (19) SOUTHEASTERN UNIVERSITY FIRE won a 27-6 affair over the POINT UNIVERSITY SKYHAWKS.
WE WENT TO A FOOTBALL GAME BUT A BASEBALL GAME BROKE OUT – The game that fits this category this time around featured the SIENA HEIGHTS UNIVERSITY SAINTS against the visiting ROBERT MORRIS (IL) EAGLES (should be the Wind Eagles). When all was said and done the Saints won it by a final tally of 6-0.
UNDER THE RADAR CLASSICS – The SOUTHWESTERN COLLEGE MOUNDBUILDERS prevailed over the homestanding TABOR COLLEGE BLUE JAYS 17-10 ### The CUMBERLAND UNIVERSITY PHOENIX downed their hosts the THOMAS MORE COLLEGE SAINTS in a 17-14 thriller ### And the (11) NORTHWESTERN (IA) COLLEGE RED RAIDERS eked out a 26-25 road win over the MIDLAND U WARRIORS.

HISTORY FOR THE RAVENS – The FRANKLIN PIERCE UNIVERSITY RAVENS, playing in their inaugural season for intercollegiate football, got their first win yesterday. The Ravens were hosting the CURRY COLLEGE COLONELS, who led them 7-0 in the 1st Quarter before FPU managed a 15-7 Halftime edge. That became a 22-14 score in the 3rd Quarter with the Ravens holding on by their fingertips in the 4th for a 29-27 victory.
WORKIN’ OVERTIME – The EASTERN NEW MEXICO UNIVERSITY GREYHOUNDS took down their hosts the COLORADO MESA UNIVERSITY MAVERICKS 44-37 in the extra session ### And the WAYNE STATE (NE) WILDCATS won a 19-13 OT affair against the visiting SOUTHWEST MINNESOTA STATE MUSTANGS.
FIGHTING THE GOOD FIGHT – The NORTH GREENVILLE UNIVERSITY CRUSADERS took it on the road against NCAA Division One’s WESTERN CAROLINA UNIVERSITY CATAMOUNTS. The Crusaders gave the Catamounts almost more than they could handle, falling to them by a tight final score of 20-17.
BLOWOUTS – The UNIVERSITY OF WEST FLORIDA ARGONAUTS tripled up on the homestanding SHORTER UNIVERSITY HAWKS by a count of 42-14 ### Meanwhile the UNIVERSITY OF SIOUX FALLS COUGARS trounced their guests the WINONA STATE WARRIORS 34-12 ### And the HENDERSON STATE REDDIES downed the SOUTHERN NAZARENE UNIVERSITY CRIMSON STORM 34-6.
NCAA DIVISION THREE
UPSETS IN THE RANKINGS – The WORCESTER POLYTECHNICAL INSTITUTE ENGINEERS edged the (19) RENSSELAER POLYTECHNICAL INSITUTE ENGINEERS 6-3 ### Meanwhile the UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN AT STEVENS POINT POINTERS won a 31-28 game over the (21) WABASH COLLEGE LITTLE GIANTS ### And the (23) UW-LACROSSE EAGLES defeated the (14) ILLINOIS WESLEYAN TITANS 33-27 in Double Overtime.
WORKIN’ OVERTIME – The UNIVERSITY OF MASSACHUSETTS AT DARTMOUTH CORSAIRS hosted the HUSSON UNIVERSITY EAGLES and won a 48-41 OT contest ### And the UNITED STATES COAST GUARD ACADEMY BEARS won a 24-23 game off a missed PAT in the extra session.
STORM FRONT – The UNIVERSITY OF NEW ENGLAND NOR’EASTERS took it on the road against the ALVERNIA UNIVERSITY GOLDEN WOLVES. By Halftime the Nor’easters were on top of the Golden Wolves 21-14 and after a scoreless 3rd Quarter won the game 35-28.
GOING GREEN – The SAINT NORBERT COLLEGE GREEN KNIGHTS welcomed the UNIVERSITY OF WISCONSIN AT EAU CLAIRE BLUGOLDS. The Green Knights were chasing the Blugolds 7-0 in the 1st Quarter but by the break had gone on top 14-7. From there Saint Norbert College won it 27-21.
