ANOTHER CHAMPION CROWNED AMID MORE COLLEGE BASKETBALL NATIONAL TOURNAMENT RESULTS

Lancaster Bible College Chargers NEWCHAMPIONSHIP GAME – The title game in the 2nd Division of the NCCAA (National Christian College Athletic Association) was played between the 2 seeds – the LANCASTER BIBLE COLLEGE CHARGERS – and the Cinderella 8 seeds – the HILLSDALE FREE WILL BAPTIST COLLEGE SAINTS. The Chargers forced the Saints to hear the chimes of midnight (for you Shakespeare fans), leading them 45-30 at Halftime enroute to a 78-65 National Championship win! Phil Carey once again led Lancaster Bible College with a Double Double of 24 points and 11 rebounds. * CONGRATULATIONS TO THE CHARGERS, THE 2015 CHAMPIONS OF NCCAA DIVISION TWO BASKETBALL! *

Davenport PanthersFINAL FOUR – FIRST BERTH – The Defending Champions go down! The 8th seeded DAVENPORT UNIVERSITY PANTHERS stunned the top seeded Defending Champs of NAIA2 basketball – the INDIANA WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY WILDCATS. An edge-of-your- seat 1st Half ended with the Wildcats on top by just 41-38 and the 2nd Half was just as close. With just 1:06 left to play the score stood at 75-75, the 12th tie of the game. COLLEGE BASKETBALL: MORE NATIONAL TOURNAMENT ACTION

Southern Oregon Raiders logoELITE EIGHT – FIRST BERTH – The (BD) SOUTHERN OREGON UNIVERSITY RAIDERS took on the (BD) GRACE COLLEGE LANCERS for this berth in the Elite Eight. The Raiders trailed the Lancers 39-35 at Halftime but pressed down on the accelerator after the break, roaring ahead for a 68-62 victory. Jordan West led SOU with THIRTY-TWO points while teammate Tim Weber notched a Double Double of 16 points and 10 rebounds. Continue reading

NAIA AND NCCAA NATIONAL TOURNAMENTS CONTINUE PLUS MORE

grace college USEDAY TWO – GAME ONE – The second day of First Round action in the NAIA2 got underway with the (BD) GRACE COLLEGE LANCERS toppling the (7) BELLEVUE UNIVERSITY BRUINS. The Lancers trailed the Bruins by just 33-30 at Halftime, then made their move during a 2nd Half dominated by smothering defense from both teams. In the end Grace College advanced with a 54-50 upset victory. Logan Irwin’s 21 points led the Lancers. Continue reading

COLLEGE HOOPS: NAIA AND NCCAA NATIONAL TOURNAMENTS UNDERWAY

Concordia (OR) CavaliersDAY ONE – GAME ONE – You want offense? The game between the (14) CONCORDIA (OR) CAVALIERS and the (BD) INDIANA UNIVERSITY EAST RED WOLVES had you covered. By Halftime the Cavaliers were on top by a blistering 66-39. After the break both teams were still rolling offensively and in the end Concordia advanced to the 2nd Round by a Century Club-level score of ONE HUNDRED SIXTEEN to NINETY! Phoenix Bears logoDISTRICT 201 – CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – Out west in Arizona the two teams left battling for this District’s championship were the PHOENIX COLLEGE BEARS and the TOHONO O’ODHAM COLLEGE JEGOS. Trinity Bantams logoIn 2nd Round action in the D3 National Tournament the TRINITY (CT) COLLEGE BANTAMS and the SALISBURY UNIVERSITY SEA GULLS played a defensive epic. At Halftime the score was a shocking 29-16 in favor of the Bantams. After the break Trinity kept up the pressure on both sides of the ball and wound up winning the game 60-47. Davis College FalconsBIBLE COLLEGE CHAMPIONSHIP – The NIT Bible College National Championship Game for 2015 pitted the DAVIS COLLEGE FALCONS against the TRINITY COLLEGE OF FLORIDA TIGERS. Falcons Coach Daniel Rathmell led his team to a 99-82 win and their THIRD Bible College National Championship. Davis College took the 2011 and 2013 titles as well.    

TODAY'S COOL-NAMED SPORTS TEAM: FRANKLIN AND MARSHALLUPSETS IN THE TOP TWELVE – The FRANKLIN & MARSHALL COLLEGE DIPLOMATS welcomed the number 11 team in the nation – the DICKINSON COLLEGE RED DEVILS – and upset them by the authoritative score of 69-53. Franklin & Marshall College played smothering defense and led Dickinson 33-23 by Halftime, then never looked back. Morgan Lee led the Diplomats with 20 points. Both teams now have a record of 20-5.  

scranton royals logoOTHER UPSETS IN THE TOP TWENTY-FIVE – The UNIVERSITY OF SCRANTON ROYALS had the Long Center rocking as they toppled the 14th ranked CATHOLIC UNIVERSITY CARDINALS in an 83-71 beating. Brendan Boken’s Double-Double led the Royals with 22 points and 10 rebounds.     ###      Meanwhile the STEVENS TECH DUCKS upset the (16) ST JOHN FISHER CARDINALS in a 60-54 defensive epic     ###      And the ILLINOIS WESLEYAN TITANS smacked down the (21) ELMHURST COLLEGE BLUEJAYS to the tune of 96-66.       Continue reading

COLLEGE BASKETBALL RESULTS

cobberleaningII%5B1%5DNUMBER TWO TAKES A FALL – The CONCORDIA (Moorhead) COBBERS welcomed the number 2 team in the nation – the UNIVERSITY OF SAINT THOMAS TOMMIES – on Saturday. The Cobbers faced a 40-31 deficit at Halftime but came back after the break to pull off the upset and hand the Tommies their second loss of the season. The final score was Cobbers 72  Tommies 66. Jordan Bolger led Concordia (Moorhead) with his 20 points and 9 rebounds as the team improved to 14-8.   

John Carroll Blue StreaksNUMBER THREE GETS TOPPLED, TOO – Meanwhile the JOHN CARROLL UNIVERSITY BLUE STREAKS took the court against the visiting 3rd ranked MARIETTA COLLEGE PIONEERS. By Halftime the Blue Streaks had seized a hard-fought 50-45 edge on their way to an 86-71 triumph. David Linane tossed in 30 points to lead John Carroll University. COLLEGE BASKETBALL RESULTS

Ursinus College Bears logoNUMBER FOUR GOES DOWN – The URSINUS COLLEGE BEARS hosted the number 4 team in the nation – the DICKINSON COLLEGE RED DEVILS in a masterpiece of defensive basketball. At Halftime the Bears had managed a 29-26 edge over the Red Devils and when all was said and done Ursinus College won in a 53-50 upset. Malik Draper led the Bears with his 14 points. Remi Janicot logged 15 rebounds.     

Carnegie Mellon Tartans logoUPSETS IN THE TOP FIFTEEN – The CARNEGIE MELLON UNIVERSITY TARTANS shocked the 12th ranked WASHINGTON (MO) UNIVERSITY BEARS, upsetting them by an authoritative 72-59 score. Seth Cordts tossed in 22 points in the win.     ###     In an 11 over 10 upset the BABSON COLLEGE BEAVERS downed the WORCESTER POLYTECHNIC INSTITUTE ENGINEERS 59-50 in their own house.   Continue reading

North Park Vikings logoVIKING ON VIKING VIOLENCE – For the second week in a row the NORTH PARK UNIVERSITY VIKINGS lead things off by notching an upset of a highly-ranked team! This time around NPU hosted the number 4 team in the nation – the AUGUSTANA (IL) COLLEGE VIKINGS. Despite trailing for the overwhelming majority of the game North Park came from behind late to play David to another team’s Goliath once again. The final score was North Park 76  Augustana 69. 

WallyWabash  Wabash Little GiantsOTHER TOP TEN UPSETS – The WABASH COLLEGE LITTLE GIANTS battled the 10th ranked COLLEGE OF WOOSTER SCOTS and led them at Halftime by a score of 36-29 on their way to a 68-65 upset win. Daniel Purvlicis led the Little Giants with 19 points and 13 rebounds!     ###      And the SPRINGFIELD COLLEGE PRIDE toppled the visiting number 6 WORCESTER POLYTECHNIC INSTITUTE ENGINEERS in a 63-59 thriller.   Continue reading
