BIBLE COLLEGE CHAMPIONSHIP – The NIT Bible College National Championship Game for 2015 pitted the DAVIS COLLEGE FALCONS against the TRINITY COLLEGE OF FLORIDA TIGERS. Falcons Coach Daniel Rathmell led his team to a 99-82 win and their THIRD Bible College National Championship. Davis College took the 2011 and 2013 titles as well.
UPSETS IN THE TOP TWELVE – The FRANKLIN & MARSHALL COLLEGE DIPLOMATS welcomed the number 11 team in the nation – the DICKINSON COLLEGE RED DEVILS – and upset them by the authoritative score of 69-53. Franklin & Marshall College played smothering defense and led Dickinson 33-23 by Halftime, then never looked back. Morgan Lee led the Diplomats with 20 points. Both teams now have a record of 20-5.
OTHER UPSETS IN THE TOP TWENTY-FIVE – The UNIVERSITY OF SCRANTON ROYALS had the Long Center rocking as they toppled the 14th ranked CATHOLIC UNIVERSITY CARDINALS in an 83-71 beating. Brendan Boken’s Double-Double led the Royals with 22 points and 10 rebounds. ### Meanwhile the STEVENS TECH DUCKS upset the (16) ST JOHN FISHER CARDINALS in a 60-54 defensive epic ### And the ILLINOIS WESLEYAN TITANS smacked down the (21) ELMHURST COLLEGE BLUEJAYS to the tune of 96-66.
BLUE DRAGONS SLIP PAST THE BEAVERS – Thanks to Bashir Ahmed, Austin Budke and DeShawn Freeman tossing in 66 points the (25) HUTCHINSON COLLEGE BLUE DRAGONS edged the PRATT COLLEGE BEAVERS by a score of 75-71. With this victory the Blue Dragons improve to 22-6 with just 2 more games left in the regular season before the Jayhawk Conference Tournament begins.
BIBLE COLLEGE NIT- THIRD PLACE GAME – The WELCH COLLEGE FLAMES came back from a 10 point Halftime deficit against their opponents the MID-ATLANTIC CHRISTIAN UNIVERSITY MUSTANGS. The Flames came out on top by a final score of 72-62. Other teams participating in the 3-day Tournament were the New England Baptist College Eagles, Appalachian Baptist College Warriors, Trinity Baptist College (FL) Eagles and the Host Institution, the Dayspring Bible College Eagles.
CENTENNIAL CLUB – Teams scoring 100 or more points in Regulation: the LAGRANGE COLLEGE PANTHERS put up 116 points to the 93 scored by the TOCCOA FALLS COLLEGE EAGLES. Tymon Enwereama’s 18 points led the Panthers. ### Meanwhile the UNIVERSITY OF DALLAS CRUSADERS won a 107-93 battle with the ARLINGTON BAPTIST COLLEGE PATRIOTS ### And the HARDIN-SIMMONS UNIVERSITY COWBOYS defeated the ever-hapless CONCORDIA (TX) TORNADOES 102-98.
DEFENSIVE MASTERPIECE – The MOODY BIBLE INSTITUTE ARCHERS took it on the road against the ILLINOIS TECH SCARLET HAWKS for a textbook case of stellar defensive play. The Archers led the Scarlet Hawks at Halftime by a score of just 26-25, then followed that up with even more suffocating defense after the break for a 49-47 victory. Trey Frank had a Double-Double to lead Moody Bible Institute with 22 points and 10 rebounds.
WORKING OVERTIME – The SKIDMORE COLLEGE THOROUGHBREDS traveled to face the SAINT LAWRENCE UNIVERSITY SAINTS and eked out a 72-67 Overtime victory ### The UNIVERSITY OF MAINE AT FARMINGTON BEAVERS meanwhile defeated the homestanding MAINE MARITIME MARINERS 71-68 ### And the CURRY COLLEGE COLONELS downed the visiting SALVE REGINA UNIVERSITY SEAHAWKS in an 84-80 thriller.
MARATHON GAME OF THE WEEK – This time around this distinction goes to the hardcourt clash between the SALISBURY UNIVERSITY SEA GULLS and their hosts the YORK COLLEGE (PA) SPARTANS. Despite a 36-30 edge for the Sea Gulls at the Half, Regulation ended in a 63-63 tie. The First Overtime ended in a 72-72 standoff but in DOUBLE OVERTIME Salisbury emerged with an 85-77 triumph. Justin Witmer’s 23 points led the Sea Gulls.
WHO GOT TO BEAT BRANDEIS THIS TIME? – The CASE WESTERN RESERVE UNIVERSITY SPARTANS held a reasonably comfortable 37-23 lead over the BRANDEIS UNIVERSITY COWARDS by Halftime. After the break the Spartans went on to win the game by a final score of 71-55. Connor Edel led Case Western Reserve with 16 points and 7 rebounds.

INSTANT CLASSICS – The FLORIDA NATIONAL UNIVERSITY CONQUISTADORS took it on the road against the TRINITY BIBLE COLLEGE (FL) EAGLES and went back home with a tight 85-83 victory ### Meanwhile the COLLEGE OF ST JOSEPH’S FIGHTING SAINTS mounted a 2nd Half comeback to beat the UNIVERSITY OF MAINE AT MACHIAS CLIPPERS 74-68 ### And in the Battle of the Bugs the CONCORDIA (AL) HORNETS took down the homestanding MORRIS COLLEGE HORNETS by a score of 87-82.
ROAD WARRIORS – The UNIVERSITY OF THE SOUTHWEST MUSTANGS traveled to take on the PAUL QUINN COLLEGE TIGERS. The Mustangs had seized a 40-31 advantage by the midpoint and then withstood a furious Tiger rally to walk away with an 85-77 road victory. Pat Beltran and Andres Gomez led University of the Southwest with 18 points each.
NORTHARK OVER WENTWORTH – The NORTHARK COLLEGE PIONEERS battled the homestanding WENTWORTH MILITARY ACADEMY AND COLLEGE RED DRAGONS. At Halftime the Pioneers held a 37-30 lead over the Red Dragons and when a Wentworth rally fell short the final score was Northark 91 Wentworth 88. Leading the Pioneers was Mark Gathright with 14 points.
BUILDING A VICTORY – The NEWPORT NEWS APPRENTICE SCHOOL BUILDERS battled their Old Dominion rivals the SOUTHERN VIRGINIA UNIVERSITY KNIGHTS. The Builders led their hosts 41-29 by the Half and then held on against an attempted comeback by the Knights for an 86-80 win. Jamal Curry was the top scorer for Newport News with 22 points.
TEXAS TUSSLE – The UNIVERSITY OF SAINT THOMAS (TX) CELTS played a game for the ages against their hosts – the PAUL QUINN COLLEGE TIGERS – on Friday. This hardcourt Armageddon stood at 33-31 by Halftime with the Celts on top. The final score in this Dallas Donnybrook wound up being St Thomas 74 Paul Quinn 67. Deric Dudley’s 33 points led the Celts.

CENTURY CLUB – The SAN BERNARDINO VALLEY COLLEGE WOLVERINES completely obliterated the visiting BARSTOW COLLEGE VIKINGS by a final tally of 100-50. Dominique Wilson came off the bench to lead the Wolverines with 21 points and 15 rebounds. ### The MENDOCINO EAGLES meanwhile defeated the SOLANO COLLEGE FALCONS in a much closer 103-82 affair ### And the ALLAN HANCOCK COLLEGE BULLDOGS eviscerated the COLLEGE OF OXNARD CONDORS to the tune of 102-50.
ROAD WARRIORS – The ANTELOPE VALLEY COLLEGE MARAUDERS traveled to face the BAKERSFIELD COLLEGE RENEGADES for a true Instant Classic. The Marauders trailed the Renegades 42-35 at Halftime but came back to win the game 76-71. Shelton Boykin came off the bench for 32 points to lead Antelope Valley College. The Marauders improved to 25-4 with the win.
CARDIAC COYOTES – The CUYUMACA COLLEGE COYOTES welcomed the IMPERIAL VALLEY COLLEGE ARABS for a truly heart-stopping game. The Coyotes seemed to be in control at the break with a 30-21 lead but in the 2nd Half the Arabs came storming back. In the end the Coyotes held on, but just barely, with the final score ending up as Cuyamaca College 66 Imperial Valley College 63.
BLOWOUTS – The IRVINE VALLEY COLLEGE LASERS took it on the road against the FULLERTON COLLEGE HORNETS and handed them a 70-49 beatdown. Chris Salas led the Lasers with 16 points. ### And the PIERCE COLLEGE BRAHMA BULLS folded, spindled and mutilated the visiting SANTA BARBARA CITY COLLEGE VAQUEROS in an 85-40 laugher.
ORGY OF OFFENSE – The CANADA COLLEGE COLTS welcomed the FOOTHILL COLLEGE OWLS for a high-scoring brouhaha. The Colts trailed the Owls at Halftime 46-44 but came back after the break to win by a score of 91-84. Another reserve player starred in this game, too, as Brian Garrett wound up leading Canada College with 26 points.
DOUBLE OVERTIME BARBECUE – The BBQ Fundraising Game between the MOORPARK COLLEGE RAIDERS and the homestanding VENTURA COLLEGE PIRATES turned into a marathon. Regulation ended with the Raiders forcing a 75-75 tie after trailing by 17. The 1st Overtime resulted in an 81-81 deadlock but in the 2nd Overtime Moorpark at last emerged with a 92-90 victory.
UNDER THE RADAR CLASSICS – The CONSUMNES RIVER COLLEGE HAWKS came back from a 36-27 Halftime deficit to defeat the visiting SANTA ROSA COLLEGE BEAR CUBS 70-67. Mitchell Love’s 21 points led the Hawks. ### And the SOUTHWESTERN (CA) COLLEGE JAGUARS downed their guests the SAN DIEGO CITY COLLEGE KNIGHTS in a 70-65 thriller.
VARYING DEGREES OF BLOWOUTS – The SAN DIEGO MIRAMAR COLLEGE JETS traveled to face the SAN DIEGO MESA COLLEGE OLYMPIANS. The Jets led the Olympians 49-36 at the Half on their way to a 98-78 victory. Jelani Carr tossed in 36 points in the win. ### And the CYPRESS COLLEGE CHARGERS clubbed down the visiting ORANGE COAST COLLEGE PIRATES to the tune of 82-59.
CLOSE SHAVES – The CHABOT COLLEGE GLADIATORS took it on the road to battle the OHLONE COLLEGE RENEGADES and headed back home with a 94-84 win. Raymond Baldwin’s 21 points and 11 rebounds led the Gladiators. ### And the MOUNT SAN ANTONIO COLLEGE MOUNTIES ruined Sophomore Night for the COMPTON COLLEGE TARTARS, prevailing in a 90-83 Instant Classic.
