cobberleaningII%5B1%5DNUMBER TWO TAKES A FALL – The CONCORDIA (Moorhead) COBBERS welcomed the number 2 team in the nation – the UNIVERSITY OF SAINT THOMAS TOMMIES – on Saturday. The Cobbers faced a 40-31 deficit at Halftime but came back after the break to pull off the upset and hand the Tommies their second loss of the season. The final score was Cobbers 72  Tommies 66. Jordan Bolger led Concordia (Moorhead) with his 20 points and 9 rebounds as the team improved to 14-8.   

John Carroll Blue StreaksNUMBER THREE GETS TOPPLED, TOO – Meanwhile the JOHN CARROLL UNIVERSITY BLUE STREAKS took the court against the visiting 3rd ranked MARIETTA COLLEGE PIONEERS. By Halftime the Blue Streaks had seized a hard-fought 50-45 edge on their way to an 86-71 triumph. David Linane tossed in 30 points to lead John Carroll University. The Blue Streaks are now 17-5, the Pioneers 21-2.     

Teacher's college of new jersey lions logoOTHER UPSETS IN THE TOP TWENTY-FIVE – The TEACHER’S COLLEGE OF NEW JERSEY LIONS played host to the number 22 WILLIAM PATERSON UNIVERSITY PIONEERS and – led by Jayson Johnson’s 25 points – upset them by a score of 80-70     ###      And the NORTH PARK UNIVERSITY VIKINGS added another upset of a ranked team to this season’s already impressive haul by downing the 24th ranked ILLINOIS WESLEYAN UNIVERSITY TITANS in an 85-83 game for the ages.  

cal lutheran kingsmen logoMARATHON GAME OF THE WEEK – This week’s winner of this distinction is the TRIPLE OVERTIME affair between the CAL LUTHERAN UNIVERSITY KINGSMEN and the WHITTIER COLLEGE POETS. The Kingsmen trailed 38-37 at the break but by the time Regulation ended things stood at 83-83. That became a 93-93 tie after the 1st OT, then 99-99 after the 2nd before Cal Lutheran at last emerged with a 111-108 victory in the 3rd OT. Coltrane Powdrill led the Kingsmen with 36 points and 16 rebounds.   

Westfield State Owls logoCENTURY CLUB – Teams scoring 100 or more points in Regulation: The WESTFIELD STATE OWLS put up 101 points to the 81 put up by the visiting WORCESTER STATE LANCERS     ###      Meanwhile the BUENA VISTA UNIVERSITY BEAVERS hammered the SIMPSON STORM to the tune of 102-75     ###      And the LAKE FOREST COLLEGE FORESTERS won a 101-94 clash with the GRINNELL COLLEGE PIONEERS.    

Roanoke College MaroonsA DOUBLE SHOT OF THAT OT LOVE – Double Overtime games: The ROANOKE COLLEGE MAROONS trailed their guests the HAMPDEN-SYDNEY TIGERS 32-27 at Halftime but tied the game at 64-64 to end Regulation. In Double Overtime the Maroons won 82-78.     ###      Meanwhile the STEVENS TECH DUCKS prevailed on the road over the ITHACA COLLEGE BOMBERS 125-120     ###      And the (15) SAINT OLAF COLLEGE OLES won a 100-88 battle at the HAMLINE UNIVERSITY PIPERS.    

Manhattanville ValiantsWORKING OVERTIME – Single Overtime games: The MANHATTANVILLE COLLEGE VALIANTS and the EASTERN UNIVERSITY EAGLES were knotted up at 32-32 by Halftime and 78-78 at the end of Regulation before the Valiants emerged with a 93-86 win     ###      The RIPON COLLEGE REDHAWKS notched an 80-73 road win over the ILLINOIS COLLEGE BLUE BOYS     ###      And the EDGEWOOD COLLEGE EAGLES defeated the AURORA UNIVERSITY SPARTANS in OT by a score of 96-94.   

* NJCAA DIVISION ONE *

Connors State CowboysCENTURY CLUB – The CONNORS STATE COWBOYS were less than hospitable to their guests the ARKANSAS BAPTIST COLLEGE BUFFALOES, clobbering them 101-66     ###      Meanwhile the COCHISE COLLEGE APACHES won a much tighter 116-106 affair with the SOUTH MOUNTAIN COLLEGE COUGARS     ###      And the NORTHWEST MISSISSIPPI RANGERS notched a 111-83 road win over the COAHOMA COLLEGE TIGERS.    

Faulkner State Sun ChiefsOVERTIME ACTION – The FAULKNER STATE SUN CHIEFS came out on top in an Overtime Instant Classic against the visiting JEFFERSON DAVIS COLLEGE WARHAWKS. The final score was Sun Chiefs 79  Warhawks 71.     ###      The BISHOP STATE WILDCATS won an 85-82 squeaker over the ALABAMA SOUTHERN COLLEGE EAGLES     ###      And the CENTRAL GEORGIA TECHNICAL COLLEGE TITANS beat the GEORGIA HIGHLANDS COLLEGE CHARGERS 76-66.   

Eastern Wyoming College LancersUNDER THE RADAR CLASSICS – The EASTERN WYOMING COLLEGE LANCERS surived a 59-58 defensive epic against the NORTH PLATE COLLEGE KNIGHTS     ###      The BALTIMORE CITY COLLEGE PANTHERS edged the HOWARD COLLEGE (MD) DRAGONS by a final score of 83-80     ###      And the GADSDEN STATE CARDINALS emerged with a 67-65 victory over the LAWSON STATE COUGARS.     

otero college rattlersBLOWOUTS – The OTERO COLLEGE RATTLERS smacked around the visiting LRAMIE COUNTY COLLEGE GOLDEN EAGLES to the tune of 92-65     ###      Meanwhile the SAINT PETERSBURG COLLEGE TITANS took it on the road and obliterated the HILLSBOROUGH COLLEGE HAWKS 75-46     ###      And the SOUTH PLAINS COLLEGE TEXANS eviscerated the CLARENDON COLLEGE BULLDOGS by a score of 89-51.   

* NJCAA DIVISION TWO *

OCC136ElectricE divideCENTURY CLUB – The OWENS COLLEGE EXPRESS folded, spindled and mutilated the homestanding EDISON COLLEGE CHARGERS by a score of 108-55     ###      The traveling KIRKWOOD COLLEGE EAGLES blasted the IOWA LAKES COLLEGE LAKERS in a 103-77 affair     ###      And the MONROE COLLEGE TRIBUNES won a 101-80 clash with the visiting MERCYHURST- NORTHEAST SAINTS.     

Elgin College SpartansWORKING OVERTIME – The ELGIN COLLEGE SPARTANS took it on the road against the COLLEGE OF LAKE COUNTY LANCERS and routed them 101-86 in the extra session     ###      And the GENESEE COLLEGE COUGARS in the meantime won a 91-88 Overtime classic against the homestanding JAMESTOWN COLLEGE AT CATTARAUGUS JAGUARS. 

Delta College PioneersUNDER THE RADAR CLASSICS – The DELTA COLLEGE PIONEERS survived a 77-73 visit from the OAKLAND COLLEGE RAIDERS     ###      The CINCINATTI STATE SURGE notched a 67-76 road win over the CUYAHOGA COLLEGE CHALLENGERS     ###      And the TOHONO O’ODHAM COLLEGE JEGOS won 80-71 at the PHOENIX COLLEGE BEARS.    

Gogebic College SamsonsHOME STANDS – The GOGEBIC COLLEGE SAMSONS won a thrilling 77-65 battle with the visiting FOX VALLEY TECH FOXES     ###      Meanwhile the SOUTHEAST COLLEGE STORM prevailed in a 90-73 hardcourt clash with the LITTLE PRIEST TRIBAL COLLEGE WARRIORS     ###      And the WILBUR WRIGHT COLLEGE RAMS defeated the COLLEGE OF DUPAGE CHAPARRALS in a 54-52 defensive epic.     

* NJCAA DIVISION THREE *

North Country College Saint BernardsCENTURY CLUB – NORTH COUNTRY COLLEGE SAINT BERNARDS registered an authoritative 109-88 victory over the SCHENECTADY COUNTY COLLEGE ROYALS     ###      The LEHIGH CARBON COLLEGE COUGARS triumphed in a 103-81 encounter with the visiting JOHNSON COLLEGE JAGUARS     ###      And the LORAIN COUNTY COLLEGE COMMODORES outlasted the COLUMBUS (OH) STATE COLLEGE COUGARS by a score of 100-88.    

Corning College Red Barons 2OVERTIME SESSIONS – The CORNING COLLEGE RED BARONS defeated the homestanding BROOME STATE HORNETS in OT by a score of 97-94     ###      The CUMBERLAND COUNTY COLLEGE DUKES won a 76-69 Overtime battle with the NORTHAMPTON COLLEGE SPARTANS     ###      And the SUNY-DELHI BRONCOS won in Double Overtime against the MOHAWK VALLEY COLLEGE HAWKS 93-88.   

Vermilion Ironmen logoROAD WARRIORS – The VERMILION COLLEGE IRONMEN notched a 69-57 road win over the HIBBING COLLEGE CARDINALS     ###      Meanwhile the DUTCHESS COLLEGE FALCONS traveled to face the CULINARY INSTITUTE OF AMERICA STEELS and went back home with a 70-55 victory     ###      And the WEST GEORGIA TECHNICAL COLLEGE GOLDEN KNIGHTS won a 70-59 showdown with the OXFORD COLLEGE OF EMORY EAGLES.   

Fulton Montgomery RaidersUNDER THE RADAR CLASSICS – The FULTON-MONTGOMERY COLLEGE RAIDERS eked out a very tight 75-70 win over the CLINTON COLLEGE COUGARS     ###      The ROCK VALLEY COLLEGE GOLDEN EAGLES defeated the visiting TRITON COLLEGE TROJANS by a score of 75-72     ###      And the MADISON COLLEGE WOLFPACK downed the MILWAUKEE TECH STORMERS to the tune of 77-70.
