COLLEGE WORLD SERIES ACTION IN THE NAIA, NCCAA, D2, D3 AND NJCAA

fresno pacific sunbirdsCHAMPIONSHIP GAME – The top seeded Defending Champions – the FRESNO PACIFIC UNIVERSITY SUNBIRDS – battled the 2nd seeded LEE UNIVERSITY FLAMES for the NCCAA crown. Neither team scored in the 1st Inning but the Sunbirds managed a 1-0 edge in the 2nd. That became a 3-0 lead in the 3rd Inning and 3-1 in the 4th when the Flames got on the board. In the 5th Inning Fresno Pacific University put up 3 more runs and rode those the rest of the way to a 6-2 victory. COLLEGE WORLD SERIES RESULTS

Vanguard U LionsDAY ONE – GAME ONE – The 10 seeds – the VANGUARD UNIVERSITY LIONS – started the day against the 7th seeded LINDSEY WILSON COLLEGE BLUE RAIDERS. In the 4th Inning the Lions took a 1-0 lead then followed that up in the 8th Inning with 2 runs to the 1 notched by the Blue Raiders. The final score was Vanguard University 3  Lindsey Wilson College 1. Pitcher Sean Isaac went 9 Iron Man Innings for the Lions. Continue reading

NCCAA WORLD SERIES: THE LATEST RESULTS

PalmBeachatlanticSailfishDAY ONE – GAME ONE – This game pitted the 4 seeds – the PALM BEACH ATLANTIC UNIVERSITY SAILFISH – against the 5th seeded CENTRAL BAPTIST COLLEGE MUSTANGS. The Sailfish seized a 5-0 lead in the 1st Inning then doubled that to a 10-0 lead in the 2nd. From there Palm Beach Atlantic University never looked back, ultimately thrashing the Mustangs by a score of SIXTEEN to TWO! Pitcher Josh Turner got the win. Continue reading

Sumter Fire AntsEASTERN DISTRICT – CHAMPIONSHIP GAME – The UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH CAROLINA AT SUMTER FIRE ANTS took on the POTOMAC STATE CATAMOUNTS for this District’s crown. The Fire Ants won a 4-2 nailbiter to become the FIRST University of South Carolina system institution to make the National Tournament. USCAA WORLD SERIES CHAMPS CROWNED AND MORE COLLEGE BASEBALL ACTION

newportnewsapprentice-school-builderCHAMPIONSHIP SERIES – Yesterday the 5th seeded NEWPORT NEWS APPRENTICE SCHOOL BUILDERS won their first National Championship in baseball since 2007. They did it in style, too, by winning THREE games in one day!

GAME ONE – The (5) Builders faced the 2nd seeded PENN STATE AT GREATER ALLEGHENY NITTANY LIONS in this game. A 1-0 1st Inning lead for NNAS became a 3-0 advantage in the 4th and 3-1 in the 5th. The Builders added another run in the 7th Inning for a 4-1 victory with Taylor Gomer on the mound.   Continue reading

newportnewsapprentice-school-builderDAY THREE – GAME ONE – In this game the 5 seeds – the NEWPORT NEWS APPRENTICE SCHOOL BUILDERS – took the diamond against the 6th seeded COLLEGE OF SAINT JOSEPH’S (sic) FIGHTING SAINTS. The Builders had hot bats very early and by the end of the 1st Inning led 5-0, then rode that advantage all the way to a 5-2 victory. Illinois Tech Scarlet HawksDAY TWO – GAME ONE – The top seeds – the ILLINOIS TECH SCARLET HAWKS – faced the 5th seeded NEWPORT NEWS APPRENTICE SCHOOL BUILDERS in this game. The Scarlet Hawks seized a 1-0 lead in the 1st Inning which became a 3-0 lead in the 3rd. After that the only run scored was by the Builders in the top of the 6th Inning as Illinois Tech won the game 3-1. Kyle Bumpass was the winning Pitcher. Continue reading

POSTSEASON COLLEGE BASEBALL CONTINUES

Northwestern Ohio RacersSANTA CLARITA REGION: DAY TWO – The 2 seeds – the UNIVERSITY OF NORTHWESTERN OHIO RACERS – started the day against the 5th seeded CAL STATE- SAN MARCOS COUGARS by overcoming a 3-0 deficit in the 3rd Inning to tie the game at 3-3 in the 4th, then winning the game 4-3 in the TWELFTH Inning! Ryan Carter got the win.     ###      Up next the 4th seeded VANGUARD UNIVERSITY LIONS converted a 6-2 lead in the 1st Inning into an 8-2 victory over the 2nd seeded UNIVERSITY OF BRITISH COLUMBIA THUNDERBIRDS. Jordan Moak was the winning Pitcher.     ###      And the (2) UNIVERSITY OF NORTHWESTERN OHIO RACERS finished the day by eliminating the top seeded MASTER’S COLLEGE MUSTANGS by a score of 6-3. Mayville State Comets SQUAREBELLEVUE REGION: DAY ONE – After 3 scoreless Innings the 5th seeded MAYVILLE STATE COMETS took a 2-1 lead over the 4th seeded MADONNA UNIVERSITY CRUSADERS in the 4th. Tyler Leibert pitched the Comets to a 6-1 victory.     ###      Next the 2 seeds – the BELLEVUE UNIVERSITY BRUINS – trailed the 3rd seeded WILLIAM WOODS UNIVERSITY OWLS 2-0 from the 3rd Inning on until their bats got hot in the 9th for a 3-2 win. Steve Sarcone was the winning Pitcher.     ###      And the top seeded TABOR COLLEGE BLUE JAYS converted a 2-0 1st Inning lead into an 8-0 shutout of (5) Mayville State.
